Workhouses or the death penalty? I can see the People's Government deciding that either or both would be a good way to further entrench their power...

Erm... HoHo... can you explain the white dog poo please?

I personally would welcome death penalty as opposed to letting repeat offenders back into society (think Venables). And the situation in prisons is ridiculous.

bluebells1 · 13/12/2019 20:36

To all the idiots on here making snide remarks, you do realise that you lot have lost? Jacob Rees Mogg won with a thumping majority. So yeah. Keep moaning and insulting.

KenDodd · 13/12/2019 20:37

So, remove judicial oversight of government by the courts which to my reading of it they can do whatever they want and nobody can take them to court for acting illegally.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 13/12/2019 20:37

They most definitely weren't talking about liquid measures, I'm afraid.

Although that's another wonderful thought: fluid ounces! Imagine the changeover if medication had to be administered in imperial measures instead of SI units.

Somanysocks · 13/12/2019 20:38

@Justcallmebebes i would prefer if some of the 5 year olds could stand at pelican crossings and press the button when they see me approach so I don't have to wait to cross.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 13/12/2019 20:38

bluebells1 It's Blitz spirit, me old china.

ArchieStar · 13/12/2019 20:40

Death penalty should never have been taken down imo. Far too many paedophiles, sex offenders, murderers, rapists, etc free to roam the streets once “rehabilitated”.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 13/12/2019 20:44

Death penalty is all well and good, when you're reading about horrors in the newspaper. It's a bit more difficult if you're the poor sod on jury service, trying to weigh up how sure you are that the personable guy in the suit across the room really did do it.

hammeringinmyhead · 13/12/2019 20:45

Are we really having "Your lot lost, ner ner" again? Is it 2016?

Anyway, I reckon Boris's capabilities extend to little bike stations all down the M6.

The “workhouse” is already back

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/12/2019 20:52

Fox hunting. It’ll be back in the next 5 years. I’d put money on it.

HoHoHoik · 13/12/2019 21:01

Conservative voters: here are some totes hilarious comments about how shit the other parties are, are you triggered you little snowflake, oh boo hoo, freedom of speech

People who have not declared their voting preferences or feelings about the result: make some jokes about Conservatives

Conservative voters: how dare you make jokes!

That about sum it up?

HoHoHoik · 13/12/2019 21:02

@LazyFace it harks back to the dog poo of my childhood. If we're going to drag the country backwards we may as well make a stop off in the 80s.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 13/12/2019 21:14

I remember white dog poo! Does anyone know why it doesn't turn white any more, or am I going to have to google it?

Hazardexhausted · 13/12/2019 21:16

They have people on UC having "work experience" in poundland already.

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/12/2019 21:18

There are a few reasons for the lack of white dog poo.

  • dog food used to be bulked out with bone and therefore poo would we whiter.
  • less people would pick up dog poo so it would be left out for weeks. Couple that with a hot summer and sun bleaching and you get white dog poo.
sammybins · 13/12/2019 21:18

Comrades, I'd like to see gulags introduced. We could dove-tail this with 'renationalising the railways'...

HoHoHoik · 13/12/2019 21:18

Dogs eat fewer bones nowadays and commercial dog food doesn't contain as much bonemeal as it used to.

Sound dead clever, don't I?

Googled it

Lindy2 · 13/12/2019 21:19

There's been a Conservative Govenment for most of my life. Never has there been any move to bring back workhouses or the death penalty.

Why on earth do you seriously think that would happen now? How utterly bizarre of you.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 13/12/2019 21:21

HoHoHulk So long as it's in your search history, not mine!

HoHoHoik · 13/12/2019 21:23

If anything ever happens to me, my Google search history will make interesting reading for the coroner.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 13/12/2019 21:24

When Boris was mayor he spent vast amounts of money planning his vanity garden bridge project (aborted) and bought some bikes. Boom boom.

I for one think that night-soil collectors should be brought back. All those unemployed layabouts lording it up on their benefits should do it.

CactusAndCacti · 13/12/2019 21:25

I think workhouses are the most likely of the two, but under a slightly different guise. There is most definitely a desire for it having read on here and fb about people getting something for nothing, so a scheme that made people 'work' for benefits would be embraced.

After all they will need to show all those labour voters who is boss, what with them not working and just wanting everything for free.

Bluesrunthegame · 13/12/2019 21:28

Pounds and ounces, according to the Sun and the Daily Mail.

I haven't seen this speech but I have been told recently that hanging was a good thing and kept down the murder rate and also, by a different person, that the birch should come back. Both the people who said this were older and were reminiscing about their youth, both conversations had been quite fun until then.

So if the prime minister is asking people what they might like to see brought back, I would not be surprised if various types of punishment were mentioned. Also corporal punishment in schools.
