If so, how long do you think you will last before your eyelids droop and you nod off?

I reckon I can last until about 3ish.

DD is ill, so I predict I'm going to be up whether I like it or not Grin

crispysausagerolls · 12/12/2019 18:16

I really really really want to, we always do BUT toddler been sick all week so shattered, and he will be up all night too so stuck in bed with him feeding him back. Will be dozing i expect and refreshing news online. No where near as exciting!

The last exit polls have been very accurate.

BertrandRussell · 12/12/2019 18:16

I’ve been staying up for elections since I was a child and we listened on the radio. My mother always made a pile of chicken sandwiches and we had them for supper with a bottle of hock!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/12/2019 18:17

How accurate have the exit polls been in the past?

Useful piece here, showing that the last 5 have been reasonably accurate: www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2019-50716626

I've got a busy day tomorrow so will turn in if it looks definite at 10pm - if not, I'll stick it out as long as I can with the help of wine

Goldrill · 12/12/2019 18:18

I haven't done before but I felt so crushed and worried when I woke up to see the Brexit result that I think I'd like to know if it's going to be really awful again before I go to bed.

Spacerader · 12/12/2019 18:22

I usually do, but not sure how long I will last tonight. I have to be up early for work, and. Have to get through organising a Christmas concert and be alert for parents, and then it’s staright out from work for the Christmas do. So I need to get some sleep.

ThisIsSanta · 12/12/2019 18:24

I have a late start tomorrow but my first meeting is a big one. I will probably stay up till around midnight then check when I stir around 6am.

jakeyboy1 · 12/12/2019 18:26

I'm going to get up around 4am instead.

crispysausagerolls · 12/12/2019 18:27

@BertrandRussell

What is hock?

Love the sound of chicken sandwiches

randomsabreuse · 12/12/2019 18:27

BBC for me although I reckon there will be some dozing on the sofa too...

I'd like to be up to see some bigwigs lose their seats. JRM, Raab, Priti Patel and of course Johnson would probably risk the cheering waking up the kids! Corbyn too...

CantstandmLMs · 12/12/2019 18:28

Wish I wasn't at work early tomorrow with an absolute shit tonne to do and I am in need to sleep to get through my mad weekend too.

NanooCov · 12/12/2019 18:28

Yes but mainly because I have work to do.

BertrandRussell · 12/12/2019 18:30

I remember when Portillo lost his seat. Dp insisted on waking up our then 2 year old to tell her....
I still remember the look on Stephen Twigg’s face....

doistayordoigo · 12/12/2019 18:31

I will, but only because I'll be counting the votes for our area. Given the number of people voting I suspect I won't be getting home to bed until daybreak.

Echobelly · 12/12/2019 18:31

Nah, I'll go to bed before they start announcing, but if I wake early may start watching from 5 or 6 (though if I get up at 5 & Tories are on track for a majority, I'm going back to bed)

BlueJava · 12/12/2019 18:31

No, I won't stay up because I like my bed too much and watching won't change anything. I'll turn on my phone to see the news as soon as I was up though, so about 6am.

chocolicious · 12/12/2019 18:34

I won’t be staying up. I’ve voted and whatever the outcome, it is what it is.I won’t lose any sleep over it either.

Sleepyblueocean · 12/12/2019 18:35

Ds will be up at 4 so I will find out them. I was up for Portillo.

damageddownbelow · 12/12/2019 18:35

I’m up most of the night with a non-sleeping six-month-old anyway, so might as well keep up with the results as they come in.

SilverySurfer · 12/12/2019 18:37

You're all making me feel hungry and thirsty, time to find a yummy takeaway and see what's in the drinks cupboard.

crispysausagerolls in case BertrandRussell doesn't come back on the thread - hock is a German white wine.

I would love to but am teaching all day tomorrow Sad

macpumpkin1 · 12/12/2019 18:38

Have you or anyone you know ever been asked for the exit poll? Just wondered who they pick.

feelingsinister · 12/12/2019 18:39

Probably not all night but late and from previous years I'll wake up a lot. Nothing to do tomorrow apart from go out for lunch.

pigsDOfly · 12/12/2019 18:39

I generally don't go to bed until about 12.30 so will probably have a look at whats happening before I do.

I have a busy day tomorrow so can't stay up too late.

Tbh I can think of nothing more boring than sitting waiting for a slow trickle of results to come in.

And quite a number won't be coming in until tomorrow anyway, so can't see what's to be gained by sitting up all night. You still won't know the results until the morning.

harriethoyle · 12/12/2019 18:39

I'm staying up! Friends are coming round at 9pm with a takeaway, I've a fridge full of wine and a cupboard full of snacks and I'm in for the long haul...
