If so, how long do you think you will last before your eyelids droop and you nod off?

I reckon I can last until about 3ish.

Probably. I think this is the most important election ever and I'm very sure it's going to go the wrong way.

burntpinky · 12/12/2019 18:42

I’ve started on the wine but suspect ll be in bed by 930. But DC going through a “phase” (this too shall pass) of waking for a couple of hours around midnight so might watch then (though no wine at that point - off work tomorrow but loads to do)

ChilliMayo · 12/12/2019 18:43

I'm on a wake-night shift so I'll keep the telly on low and keep updated whilst getting paid for it.

Alarae · 12/12/2019 18:43

Nope- staying up won't affect the result so I will have a quick Google when I wake up at 6:30am for work!

I wouldn't survive anyway. I'm normally in bed by 9pm as being a walking boulder (pregnant) takes it out of me. Plus it's my works Christmas party tomorrow, so I can't have two late nights in a row!

Schwibble · 12/12/2019 18:44

No. Don't want to be tired tomorrow.

U2HasTheEdge · 12/12/2019 18:46

I don't need to. Tories have it in the bag. I see no point in being shit faced for work just to have that confirmed.

SilverySurfer · 12/12/2019 18:54

And quite a number won't be coming in until tomorrow anyway, so can't see what's to be gained by sitting up all night. You still won't know the results until the morning.*

True but we will hopefully get a good indication through the night - enough to know if we need to drown our sorrows or celebrate, either way we can finish the bottle Grin

Looking at it another way, it means that it's going the right way for the majority.

Bertrand

Seeing Portillo lose his seat is my first real election memory. I was 11. My dad let me stay up watching, i had fallen asleep on the sofa and he woke me up

AG29 · 12/12/2019 18:58

I would love to but I won’t make it much past 10pm. Been up since 5 and busy all day. I’m planning an early night and waking up bright and early again to watch it all!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/12/2019 18:58

No, but DP has taken a half day from work and will stay up. I’ll go to bed about midnight then check Twitter first thing.

mantlepiece · 12/12/2019 19:00

I will be watching, usually do but definitely tonight!

isseywith4vampirecats · 12/12/2019 19:01

no will find out in the morning who won

DivisionBelles · 12/12/2019 19:02

Yes, me! Got the day off tomorrow, have got strong coffee and chocolate and reckon I'll make it to around 3 before I get droopy eyelids. Both DC are in the audience on the C4 Alternative Election Night so hoping I might be able to see them.

BloomedAgain · 12/12/2019 19:05

I'm feeling gloomy and weirdly find all the breaking news good for me. So I'll be watching.

Abc123def · 12/12/2019 19:06

I’m staying up until 12am. Then set an alarm for 3am. Quick check. Then alarm for 6am. Then we’ll know. 😌.

RedLipstickHighHeels · 12/12/2019 19:07

Absolutely not up at 6am as usual working in the morning

actiongirl1978 · 12/12/2019 19:07

Yes, going to watch the exit polls then go to bed for 3 hrs and get up at 1 to crack on.

Bacon sandwiches will be served at 1 or 2 and then coffee.

I stayed up for my first all nighter election for the Dudley by-election which I think was 1995 when I was doing a-level politics.

I love the commentary, the winners and losers and surely this one is even more exciting?

I don't understand NOT wanting to watch, it's so important and also entertaining!

NotStayingIn · 12/12/2019 19:09

I need to stay up for it for work (but not actively working on it) so glad I have you guys to keep me company!

Abc123def · 12/12/2019 19:10

I’m actually going to be really tired tomorrow. I’m working 12.5 hours aswell :/

backouch · 12/12/2019 19:11

I've got a baby who is still up a lot so I'll be keeping up with it when awake with him. I love to sit up all night for elections but can't do that, too tired!

crispysausagerolls · 12/12/2019 19:11

Thank you OP!

I’ve started the party early by eating Doritos in bed in the dark whilst holding sleeping sick DS.

Obviously my best is now a sea of Doritos that missed my mouth and regret.

crispysausagerolls · 12/12/2019 19:11

*bed,
Not best

OlaEliza · 12/12/2019 19:12

I want up but don't have TV. I'll have to make do with online updates.

MerryDeath · 12/12/2019 19:12

hahahaha that's funny. NO. the news will be the same in the morning. i expect my mother will be up until the small hours but then all she's got to do tomorrow is go over to her equally furious friend's house to drink tea and commiserate.

emmetgirl · 12/12/2019 19:14

Not planning to but I never plan to and always do on the night of a GE!
