Aibu: PJs with pants underneath at night?*

I do, partner does, and so do the kids. However we didn't when we were kids, and my nieces don't when they come to stay. Was reading something on the NHS site about worms recently (prompted by the wildly inappropriate 'medicating-someone-else's-kid' post a few days ago - I mean the action was inappropriate, not the "thread") and it suggested wearing pants with PJs to combat thread-worms, implying that ppl don't normally??

Aibu in that we all do wear pants with nightwear as it's basic hygiene to me ?

*Not a pants-troll, but you'll either believe me or you won't....

I've never worn my underwear to bed. I always buy PJ's that are several sizes too big for me so nothing is digging in or gripping my bits. It's like being bottomless only your not because your bum is covered. When I first got married I wore nighties and when they rode up in the night my husband thought I was giving him the old 'come-on'.

surreygirl1987 · 12/12/2019 21:36

Wait, what? People dont wear pants under their PJs?! Did not know that!! I always do. Hmmmm. Wonder if that's why I used to get a lot of thrush? Wouldn't you have to change your pj bottoms every day though?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 12/12/2019 21:49

I wear pants and a nightshirt. Haven't had thrush for about thirty years so I don't think the pants are doing me any harm.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 12/12/2019 21:53

Am now chuckling away to myself though at all the breathing genitals on this thread though. Am I the only person who sleeps under a duvet? I could be buck naked and still nothing's "breathing" under my 10 tog duvet. Are the rest of you spread-eagled on top of a thin sheet with the window wide open letting a fresh Arctic breeze in? Confused

BennyTheBall · 12/12/2019 21:53

It seems excessively buttoned up to me.

But we sleep naked all year round, so any nightwear is excessive imo.

JewelTheft · 12/12/2019 21:56

Not read the whole thread, so apologies if it's already been covered, but dont5 you end up with a wedgie in your sleep, with pants on?

HuntingCuns · 12/12/2019 21:57

Are the rest of you spread-eagled on top of a thin sheet with the window wide open letting a fresh Arctic breeze in?

In a word: yes (see previous post). Grin

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 12/12/2019 21:58

Oh noooo my nights sleep is ruined if I don’t have a a nice big pair of parachute pants on to keep me tucked in.

ButterflyBook · 12/12/2019 22:05

You must all be very leaky, sweaty people!!
I have always had rather overactive vaginal discharge which has, especially when in my teens, caused me no end of management problems. Less so since I plucked up the courage to consult my GP who assured me it was perfectly normal.
But anyway, thanks for that.

lunkitsmum · 12/12/2019 22:09

Urm I've always worn pants under PJ's and never once had thrush.🤔 If you don't wear pants under PJ's because it's so important to air the foo foo I'm wondering why you wear them under clothes the rest of the time?

happycamper11 · 12/12/2019 22:11

You must all be very leaky, sweaty people!!

Surely even if you have nether regions as dry as the Sahara desert you still change your under crackers after a days wear? In the absence of pants the pyjamas as taking the place of them as direct contact so surely you'd need to change them within the same timeframe?

My solution is changing my PJs once or twice a week- I've got loads

Surely that's the minimum anyone changes their pyjamas even if there is underwear used. A week sounds pretty grim anyway let alone when no knickers have been used

itbemay1 · 12/12/2019 22:13

No pants, clean pjs every night for whole house

happycamper11 · 12/12/2019 22:14

This thread is now making me think of the husband poo crumb thread of old - yet another reason for pants 😆

Jolonglegs · 12/12/2019 22:20

I wear knicks under my nightie, changing them in the morning.

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 12/12/2019 22:23

I hate my OH sleeping naked :(

Missymare · 12/12/2019 22:24

No pants here and clean pjs everyday so no hygiene issues

Spinmynipplenuts · 12/12/2019 22:26

Always wear pants here. Never had an issue with thrush!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/12/2019 23:01

I wear a nightshirt (or one of DP’s t-shirts) and always pants. Clean nightie Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, bed stripped every weekend.

My colleague and I had this conversation recently, and she revealed she (and her family) wears no pants, nightwear is washed once a week, and the beds are stripped fortnightly. I was quite shocked.

Heartburn888 · 12/12/2019 23:15

Another vote for no pants unless it’s that time of the month

BluebellCockleshell123 · 12/12/2019 23:23

No pants under PJs for anyone in this house (except me when in have my period and need to keep a pad in place). I hate having anything tight on when I’m sleeping and would prefer to sleep naked but it’s too cold in winter for that shenanigans.

Usually change our Pjs every couple of days & bedcovers every week.

ButterflyBook · 12/12/2019 23:42

I actually remember Dr Christian having this type of conversation with some rugby players. He said no matter how well you wipe, you still have poo bacteria on your bum skin. It sort of travels. Best kept inside your pants, to coin a phrase.

ButterflyBook · 12/12/2019 23:45

Bed pants don't have to be tight. That's the beauty of bed pants.

ApplejackCriesOnTheInside · 12/12/2019 23:52

No pants under pyjamas.

64sNewName · 12/12/2019 23:55

We also do no pants, daily clean pyjamas.

frillyfarmer · 12/12/2019 23:58

No pants, no pjs for the grown ups in the house either. How else does the P meet the V?
