Aibu: PJs with pants underneath at night?*

I do, partner does, and so do the kids. However we didn't when we were kids, and my nieces don't when they come to stay. Was reading something on the NHS site about worms recently (prompted by the wildly inappropriate 'medicating-someone-else's-kid' post a few days ago - I mean the action was inappropriate, not the "thread") and it suggested wearing pants with PJs to combat thread-worms, implying that ppl don't normally??

Aibu in that we all do wear pants with nightwear as it's basic hygiene to me ?

*Not a pants-troll, but you'll either believe me or you won't....

I sleep in vest and knickers.

Likethebattle · 12/12/2019 18:34

Always with pants. I shower in the morning and apply clean pantage and on holiday I take 14 pairs as there will be clean ones after my morning shower (unless wearing a swim suit) then I shower before going out and apply a clean gusset then too.

This is where the term 'letting it breathe' comes from. This ^ is not healthy. If you never took a sock off except when you were bathing, your foot would eventually get something wrong with it. Same with bits. They need air sometimes.

Nonsense, I feel the cold terribly. Feet are the worst affected. Socks are removed only to wash with exception of summer heatwaves. There is absolutely nothing wrong with my feet. What do you suggest might go wrong? As in 40 years it's yet to happen.

zemblanity · 12/12/2019 18:48

I don't wear anything to bed. Dh wears an old pair of basketball shorts (he has several pairs of these). Dc wears pjs but without pants.

MapMyMum · 12/12/2019 18:49

You must all be very leaky, sweaty people!!

I sleep in the nip, the others in the house wear pjs with no pants underneath. No leaking or sweating issues!!

eaglejulesk · 12/12/2019 18:57

I wear pants. Shower in the morning and change into fresh pants for the day ahead.

eaglejulesk · 12/12/2019 19:02

Incidentally I am not young, have done this all my life, don't get thrush and am one of the healthiest people I know! (and I've never had any problem with my "bits"). So, if you want to wear pants then wear them, it won't do you any harm.

TatianaLarina · 12/12/2019 19:11

I don’t leak or sweat, I just don’t want to wear something that’s been next to my privates all night more than once. It just doesn’t feel clean.

meyouandlulutoo · 12/12/2019 19:11

I wear pants under pjs and put clean pants on again in the morning, otherwise I would have to wash pyjamas every day. I find cotton pants are more comfortable than pj bottoms. When I was younger I wore nothing in bed and I haven't noticed any difference in nether region health with or without.

Carry on doing whatever you like.

HavelockVetinari · 12/12/2019 19:15

I wear pants under PJs, I almost never get thrush or UTIs. I'd have to change my PJ bottoms after one wear if I didn't wear pants, it would somehow feel icky (don't know why, it's not like I'm particularly dirty or have large amounts of discharge)

namynom · 12/12/2019 19:17

I wear pants every night either on through own or with pjs on top, have never once had thrush or anything similar!

BreatheAndFocus · 12/12/2019 19:21

Pants under pyjamas - for me and the DC Smile

It feels wrong and uncomfortable without pants, and I don’t think it’s hygienic. I also feel pants are more comfortable for my bits than PJ bottoms.

As for ‘airing’, under PJs and under a duvet, there wouldn’t be much airing at all. Choose the right pants and your bits shouldn’t need airing anyway. Grin

Stuffedcrust55 · 12/12/2019 19:23

Pants and pjs here. If I didnt wear pants I would have to change pjs every day.
Kids dont wear pants with their pjs and wear the pjs a few days. Not sure why I treat them differently.

justcly · 12/12/2019 19:29

How are people's bits getting air if they have pjs on?

rattusrattus20 · 12/12/2019 19:30

as noted by others it's IMO important that adults of both sexes don't sleep in anything too tight or unbreathable, at least covering their genitals.

amaryl · 12/12/2019 19:33

Defo pants on for me. But ds wears just his pants or his pjs with no pants, so just one layer.

stripeypillowcase · 12/12/2019 19:35

How are people's bits getting air if they don't have pjs on?

Skyejuly · 12/12/2019 19:36

Always pants under PJ.

ButterflyBook · 12/12/2019 19:36

Me too. Even in summer I wear trainer socks, never sandals. Don't like the feel of bare feet in shoes and they can get smelly. Nowt wrong with my feet and I've had them for years. It's just skin like the rest of me.

Mmmcheesecake · 12/12/2019 19:39

Always wear them under pjs. However I’m in an absolute parallel universe to everyone else as I hate taking my bra off and sleep in one as well!

ClientListQueen · 12/12/2019 19:57

I sleep with thermal socks on. Rarely have bare feet and no foot problems

snowybaubles · 12/12/2019 20:00

If you never took a sock off except when you were bathing, your foot would eventually get something wrong with it. Same with bits. They need air sometimes.

If you take your socks off your feet are exposed to air. If I take my pants off the only way my fanny is getting air is if I lie in top of my bed covers with my legs wide apart Confused

OlaEliza · 12/12/2019 20:00

You must all be very leaky, sweaty people!!

This. 🤮

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 12/12/2019 20:01

So why don't all the Pants On People get something wrong with their bits? 🤔 Could it be because it's simply not universally true?

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 12/12/2019 20:03

You must all be very leaky, sweaty people!!

And the Pants Off People must all be harbouring nasties in their nether regions if wearing pants at night gives them infections etc.

Or possibly, it's just that everyone is different... I wonder which is it?
