Aibu: PJs with pants underneath at night?*

I do, partner does, and so do the kids. However we didn't when we were kids, and my nieces don't when they come to stay. Was reading something on the NHS site about worms recently (prompted by the wildly inappropriate 'medicating-someone-else's-kid' post a few days ago - I mean the action was inappropriate, not the "thread") and it suggested wearing pants with PJs to combat thread-worms, implying that ppl don't normally??

Aibu in that we all do wear pants with nightwear as it's basic hygiene to me ?

*Not a pants-troll, but you'll either believe me or you won't....

You must all be very leaky, sweaty people!!

This. 🤮

Well I do get vaginal discharge that leaks. No need for the sick emoji, it's rather natural and not something you should be trying to make people feel ashamed of.

Soontobe60 · 12/12/2019 20:07

My genitals manage to breathe very well with both pants and pjs covering them overnight. I've never had thrush, or a UTI. If I didn't need wear pants I'd need clean pjs every night. That seems a bit extravagant.

TimeforanotherChange · 12/12/2019 20:07

I don't like pants under pjs...however I am wearing at the moment cos I am full of cold and coughing. Which means I'm a bit inclined to wee myself when I suddenly cough...Blush. Need pants and pad.

TheClausSeason · 12/12/2019 20:19

Commando in a nightie, pants in pyjamas. I move a lot in my sleep- without the pants under pyjamas I essentially end up flossing with them. Very uncomfortable and pretty unhygienic too!

namina · 12/12/2019 20:21

Nope the bits need to breathe, also it's so
Uncomfortable

UserPop · 12/12/2019 20:22

Always wear knickers with pjs, can't stand without I change twice a day too, morning and night!

TurquoiseDress · 12/12/2019 20:25

No way!

Pyjamas are just not right with underpants underneath!

My solution is changing my PJs once or twice a week- I've got loads

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 12/12/2019 20:26

Nope the bits need to breathe

How do they breathe smothered by duvet?

Livpool · 12/12/2019 20:27

I only wear knickers to bed if I am on my period. Usually all I wear for bed is a t shirt or naked

christmasathome · 12/12/2019 20:29

No pants here unless i was having a period or occasionally if I've put pjs on really early in the day.

Windygate · 12/12/2019 20:30

@siacolouredthesmallone I bet DP isn't the one doing the laundry

oblada · 12/12/2019 20:32

Definitely no pants. Sleep naked anyway. Kids wear nightie/pj with no pants underneath. Don't change the sheets daily. Or the pj's. Just wash them at regular enough intervals. Too much washing isn't good for us. Being too clean and 'hygienic' is not good for our health. We're pretty clean and healthy people otherwise :)

SuitablyDull · 12/12/2019 20:35

Only wearing pants under pyjamas at the moment because I'm pregnant and need to wear panty liners. Otherwise no I dont

Mumtotwo82 · 12/12/2019 20:36

Ok I'm gonna say it because surely every woman must get this... discharge (any small amount of discharge) I prefer confined to pants it's more comfortable for me I hate the feel of wetness in-between my legs and on my pjs, plus the thought of washing PJ's every use (I don'ts have the space for 7 pairs of PJ bottoms I have like only 3. I only wear pants in summer but both in Winter. Only cotton comfortable pants all the time...surely PJ's and a duvet on is hardly letting them 'breath' either. Fyi also I've never had infections or thrush Confused

Yellredder · 12/12/2019 20:39

I don't wear any. But my DD who will only wear nighties has to have knickers on!

HuntingCuns · 12/12/2019 20:40

You don't have to wash extra pants though. Just keep the same pants on from the day

This is enough to make me hyperventilate.

A bit TMI-ish, but I'm perimenopausal and hot, so there are no big duvets here. I can't even cope with a sheet. I dump all the bedding on top of DP, who is not perimenopausal and feels the cold. So there's plenty of air circulating around my nethers overnight. Grin

HuntingCuns · 12/12/2019 20:41

Also wondering, in an over-invested way, if the people who wear pyjamas also wear trousers? I don't possess any of either.

Hopalong34 · 12/12/2019 20:51

None of us wear anything to bed xx

The idea of wearing the same pants all day and night is considerably yukkier to me than wearing no pants at night and changing PJ's every couple of days.
Each to their own.

Jenpop234 · 12/12/2019 21:01

If I don't wear pants then I will change my PJs every day because otherwise it's just like wearing the same pair of knickers for more than one day. So usually, I wear pants so I don't create extra washing.

Scarlettpixie · 12/12/2019 21:07

I have always worn pants under pjs. Clean pants after a bath/shower and always in the morning. Pjs last a few days.

DS 13 wears one or the other. My ex never slept in pants it was pjs or nothing at all.

Do what you are comfortable with.

SheOfManyNames · 12/12/2019 21:08

Nope, unless I'm on a period.

MyOtherLifeIsAFairytale · 12/12/2019 21:09

Nah, no pants w my jammie bottoms. Used to sleep in the noddy, but after kids I don’t (as had to get up ALL the time to feed, change etc and hopping in and out of a robe or bottoms was precious sleep time wasted.)
Cannot have pants w Pjs. Whole household is pantsless come to think of it. Thought it was normal?
