I find Corbyn deeply unsettling

There is something about the man that makes me shudder - the cold detachment of the man.

I really do worry about what would be unleashed if he were elected.

I can cope with much of the sentiment in the Labour manifesto, but not the man. Similar feelings about Mc Donnell, but he seems to manage to pull out some humanity in interviews

@katseyes7 also see my comment above about the mass murder. The mans a psychopath. Don’t feel bad, they’re notoriously difficult to spot if you don’t know what you’re looking for, even at your age.

Justanotherlurker · 10/12/2019 20:25

Posted too soon, we have spent the past 3 years with the russians being the bogey man, especially with regards to Trump, why is it being ignored now.

Poppinjay · 10/12/2019 20:25

How anyone can claim to feel uncomfortable about the Labour leader when it is patently obvious that we're headed for a Conservative majority that will mean numerous unnecessary deaths and widespread poverty and suffering while millionaires and billionaires get tax breaks is completely beyond me!

When I vote, I'm voting for the policies I feel will best benefit our society, not for a personality.

I certainly won't be voting for the party led by a cold, calculating character who has conned the voting public with his carefully cultivated and finely honed lovable, bumbling fool act. Now he is someone who really does make my blood run cold.

reginafelangee · 10/12/2019 20:28

I agree. He gives me the absolute creeps. That plus I'm revolted by his anti-semtism and fondness for terrorists.

astralweaks · 10/12/2019 20:29

Saw a clip of him doing something with young children today. Just caught a glimpse but he was so stern and po faced. The man is awkward, in more ways than one.

katseyes7 · 10/12/2019 20:29

ChristmasSpirtsOnTheRocksPleas
l appreciate your comment. However l'll just bring to your attention the 'mass murder' committed by the Conservative party and the DWP by their policies.
And l'd appreciate it if you don't patronise me. l was in the police for 28 years. l'm a pretty good judge of character. As good as you, it seems, by you failing to mention how many have died because of Tory policies.

astralweaks · 10/12/2019 20:29

Corbyn, that is.

BiologyIsReal · 10/12/2019 20:31

*@BiologyIsReal I’d recommend voting based on policies rather than personalities. Although I genuinely like and trust Corbyn, I’m aware he’s a polarising character and can see why some people don’t.

This website is useful if you’re unsure

voteforpolicies.org.uk/*

Sad geek that I am I have read all the manifestos and, as I said, I am politically homeless.

Also, I think that while personality is not everything it can set the tone of a Government.

katseyes7 · 10/12/2019 20:32

ChristmasSpirtsOnTheRocksPleas l'm not sure what you're referring to by 'YS?

Cam77 · 10/12/2019 20:34

I posted my vote off today. It’s in a marginal and I voted Labour. Best manifesto by a mile particularly on jobs, housing and the environment (while virtually all the other parties are making an effort to plan long term, the Conservative manifesto is particularly appalling on the environment, unforgivable really). No idea what Corbyn is “really” like in his personal life but he seems decent and honest, and genuinely seems to care about the people in his constituency -which is more than can be said for you know who.

HideYourBabiesAndYourBeadwork · 10/12/2019 20:34

Whatever your view on Corbyn I’d accept him any day as PM over bloody bastard Boris- a proven liar, a manipulator and an all round nasty, racist, bigoted, thick monster.

But for what it’s worth, I don’t recognise Corbyn from your description of him in your OP. He’s far from perfect but I do believe he believes what he’s saying.

Elephantlegs · 10/12/2019 20:35

I will be voting labour to get me blobby out who I didn't vote for!

astralweaks · 10/12/2019 20:38

Boris is a buffoon, however. At least Corbyn is not that.

catsarecute · 10/12/2019 20:39

@MistyCloud I've looked at several constituencies and they don't all recommend Labour. Try it and see. For example, look at Bath. Then look at Richmond Park etc etc. Yes people are taking them very seriously. If you are unsettled by the conservatives (I take it you're not from your post, but you may be a bit worried about the power of the tactical vote...) they are our very best chance. I will be voting tactically.

Jellykat · 10/12/2019 20:39

God, give me JCs 'i give a shit' serious face, over BJs 'jokes on you' smirking anyday!

Cam77 · 10/12/2019 20:39

How anyone can criticize Jeremy Corbyn on character or being a bit weird or whatever after that video the other day of serial liar, philanderer, known racist Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson pocketing that journalists phone like some dodgy street seller is beyond me.

Amanduh · 10/12/2019 20:40

I agree, but you’re not allowed to blast Saint Corbyn on MN OP!

Bluewavescrashing · 10/12/2019 20:40

I don't feel unsettled by Corbyn.

Boris is laughable and a sexist, bigoted, racist, chauvinist dick.

Also, I doubt his IQ is very high which leaves him looking even more stupid.

HotWaterBottleAndABottleOfWine · 10/12/2019 20:42

So vote for someone else (though there is no-one better!) Personally I don't mind him.

ArseDarkly · 10/12/2019 20:42

Turns out he's so 'cold and detached' that he draws welcoming crowds when he's out campaigning and was responsible for attracting a huge new membership to Labour.

Meanwhile Boris Johnson, who was constantly talked up as 'charming and charismatic and funny' is increasingly despised as a soulless dirty cheat even by people who intend to vote Tory.

You're entitled to your opinion of course - but it's full of shit.

BustedDreams · 10/12/2019 20:47

I totally get where you’re coming from @Yarboosucks. He has a sinister air and an unsettling presence. I get the shudders too.

Elbeagle · 10/12/2019 20:47

I agree, but you’re not allowed to blast Saint Corbyn on MN OP!

You’re ‘allowed’ to say whatever you want. Other posters are also ‘allowed’ to disagree Smile

reginafelangee · 10/12/2019 20:47

@ArseDarkly and yet

  • he personally polls as the most unpopular labour leader ever
  • has had the worst election results for labour in decades
  • is cited as the number one reason for former Labour voters switching to other parties
  • is going to lose on Thursday
Poppinjay · 10/12/2019 20:53

Saw a clip of him doing something with young children today. Just caught a glimpse but he was so stern and po faced. The man is awkward, in more ways than one.

Well that's a great way to choose a future prime-minister.

I suppose Boris comes across as an affable chap so at least we can enjoy watching his bumbling fool act, smiling indulgently while he leads the campaign to destroy our welfare state and plunges whole swathes of society into poverty.

So much better than having a government that will give us an NHS and a benefits system that keep people alive but is led by someone who looks a bit ill at ease around small children he doesn't know Hmm

ArseDarkly · 10/12/2019 20:54

reginafelangee

  1. yes it's funny isn't it...almost as if polls were full of shit - good god! Shock
  2. Not true
  3. More fool them for still being in love with Tony Blair
  4. See 1 Grin
