I find Corbyn deeply unsettling

There is something about the man that makes me shudder - the cold detachment of the man.

I really do worry about what would be unleashed if he were elected.

I can cope with much of the sentiment in the Labour manifesto, but not the man. Similar feelings about Mc Donnell, but he seems to manage to pull out some humanity in interviews

Corbyn should go now instead of clinging on ... I think the unions want him to stay while they find someone just like him to take over.

No. She represents a Labour stronghold. I doubt very many of the 40k voted for her personally. They just voted Labour.

Clearly people's voting choices and behaviours are influenced by a number of factors. It's daft to suggest, as you have done, that the constituency MP is irrelevant to Labour voters in strong Labour seats.

In this election, lifelong Labour voters didn't automatically vote Labour - some of them voted Tory for the first time. Traditional Labour seats were not bulletproof - some changed hands having been Labour for up to 100 years.

Abbott's vote share in the same seat for previous elections, although pretty high, has been as much as 20% lower. Her vote share loss in this election was also lower than the average Labour vote share loss in strong remain constituencies.

Give her some credit.

Fully aware of that. But DA's constituency is strongly Labour and strongly remain. So they're not going to vote Tory whoever their MP is. I suspect that most of those that changed hands were in strong leave constituencies which made Labour voters vote Conservative.

Do we have any evidence to prove that people jumped all the way from labour to Tory ?

Labour to BXP I can fully believe

eg Sedgefield
Tory got 3500 votes more than last time
Labour got 7100 less
BXP/UKIP got 1700 more
LibDem got 1200 more
Green got 300 more

I was making a broader point about strong Labour areas not necessarily being able to rely on traditional Labour votes. Of course there's a strong correlation between loss of Labour votes and predominantly leave constituencies. But Labour still lost votes in Remain constituencies. DA's vote share loss was less than the average Labour vote share loss in Remain areas (and nearly matched the Green/Lib Dem vote share increase in her constituency). The point is, her statistics are still good compared to other strong Labour seats; compared to her own performances in previous elections and compared to the Labour vote share loss in predominantly Labour, predominantly Remain, London. I therefore disagree that she is not a factor in why people vote Labour in her constituency.

The Brexit Party ultimately decided not to contest 300+ seats previously won by the Tories, limiting the choices for Leave supporting Labour voters. I saw a number of election coverage pieces interviewing (sometimes lifelong) Labour voters saying they would be voting Tory.

Some of whom were shown up to be mates of the Tory candidate lying through their teeth
