I find Corbyn deeply unsettling

There is something about the man that makes me shudder - the cold detachment of the man.

I really do worry about what would be unleashed if he were elected.

I can cope with much of the sentiment in the Labour manifesto, but not the man. Similar feelings about Mc Donnell, but he seems to manage to pull out some humanity in interviews

Yep the Chief Rabbi has no clue about antisemitism

I don't deny that there is a problem with antisemitism, but I can't take seriously the chief rabbi when he fails to call out the problems with antisemitism in the Conservative Party, and he is known to be a friend of Johnson's. His obvious bias has seriously dented his credibility.

SecondaryBurnzzz · 10/12/2019 20:03

It’s about the party/policy not the leader surely?

catsarecute · 10/12/2019 20:05

If you are concerned about a conserative government, check the tactical voting recommendations for your constituency here www.votesmart2019.com/?fbclid=IwAR1ORb0UDqIxJg4jLJas9nm2NT8h584HiIf-JrXE1QPwztyYGV-TjMnFU_M

MistyCloud · 10/12/2019 20:05

I don't like Boris at all, and will not be voting Tory, but for all the people on here who seem to be championing CORBYN, all I will say is that the multiple millions of people who have deserted Labour, cannot all be wrong.

Personally, I would not vote for Labour in a million years, not with Corbyn as leader, even though people keep repeating that mantra 'you are voting for the PARTY not the leader...'

Corbyn AND the entire Labour party are waaaaaaaaaay too far left for me, AND many others, and that is why Labour have lost millions of voters. I can't believe some people can't see that Labour will not win this election in a million years, and it's because Corbyn is leader. The ignorance and denial is astounding.

As I say, I am not a Tory, and would never vote for them, but will not vote for Labour either. Not with their current leader and with the (very far left) way they are now.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 10/12/2019 20:05

This is just this week, and the candidates have been allowed to stand. So Johnson's claim that any antisemites would immediately be chucked out the Conservative Party are not true.

MaMaMaMySharona · 10/12/2019 20:06

Why is everyone so bothered about antisemitism within the Labour Party and not others? Have you questioned why the papers have leapt all over this story and put no attention on the Prime Minister’s own racist comments, and those within his party?

I’m not saying the Labour Party are innocent by any means, I’m just saying if that’s one of your concerns then you need to put all parties under the same scrutiny.

BiologyIsReal · 10/12/2019 20:06

He's got a good line in playing the nice old gentleman, but when you see his history it doesn't gel with his hard left background.

I believe Stalin was known as "Uncle Joe". Grin

Basically we have to choose from among a hard left anti-semitist condoner, a bullshitting liar, a hectoring schoolmarm or the airy fairies of the green movement.

I am politically homeless.

FizzAfterSix · 10/12/2019 20:07

@DonkeyHotty; so are the 47% of Jewish people who want to leave the country if anti--Semite Jeremy Corbyn wins the election all `Tory bots?'

I don't like Boris either but Corbyn puts ideology before people and common sense and is even worse.

LakieLady · 10/12/2019 20:07

@katseyes7: great post!

I used to be very involved in the Labour party in the 80s and met Corbyn several times.

I suppose he could have changed since then, but he was very warm, mild-mannered, considerate and genuinely interested in people.

Not as hot as the young John McDonnell though. Grin

BlackSwanGreen · 10/12/2019 20:07

I'm not a big fan of Corbyn, but he is far better than the morally reprehensible BJ.

MistyCloud · 10/12/2019 20:08

@catsarecute

LOL, every single one of those 'tactical' voting sites, tells you, (no matter WHERE you are,) to vote for Labour.

LMFAO! Grin

No-one takes these sites seriously, surely.........

Softleftpowerstance · 10/12/2019 20:09

I’m with you OP but it’s a minority opinion.

Corbyn makes me feel deeply unsettled. He triggers my abusive man radar if I’m honest. Maybe it’s because he so palpably hates the media and forgets that in glaring at their cameras he’s glaring straight into my living room.

I’ll be voting Labour anyway (lifelong Labour voter) but I have a strong visceral reaction to Corbyn and don’t understand this caring sharing magic grandpa persona at all.

MaMaMaMySharona · 10/12/2019 20:09

@BiologyIsReal I’d recommend voting based on policies rather than personalities. Although I genuinely like and trust Corbyn, I’m aware he’s a polarising character and can see why some people don’t.

This website is useful if you’re unsure

How is the weather in Moscow this morning ?

BarbedBloom · 10/12/2019 20:10

I don't see it either. I do however despise Boris. I am not voting for Corbyn though, but instead for the NHS, the most vulnerable and the hungry children I see every day. I happen to agree with a lot of the manifesto though

slipperywhensparticus · 10/12/2019 20:10

It's ok boris idiots will still vote for you stop spending your budget on slagging off the opposition

katseyes7 · 10/12/2019 20:13

LakieLady Thank you! l consider myself a pretty good judge of people. l'm 61 so l've had a lot of time to hone my skills.
l've never met him, unfortunately, but when l've seen him on tv he seems a genuinely decent, compassionate person. And l really think that's what we need right now. Someone with some empathy and care for others. Not more nest feathering and 'bugger the plebs'.
Those of us who need, or may need the NHS (l certainly do) need to consider that as well as everything else. lt's been sold down the river by the Tories.

Treaclepie19 · 10/12/2019 20:14

@catsarecute pg48 is what's unsettling to me too. I can't believe it's being brushed over.

katseyes7 · 10/12/2019 20:14

BarbedBloom l'm thinking pretty much the same as you about the NHS. The amount of people in the States who have gone bankrupt and lost their homes because of medical bills is terrifying.

FettuciniAlaFagiola · 10/12/2019 20:15

I really like and support corbyn

Justanotherlurker · 10/12/2019 20:19

Lumene · 10/12/2019 20:19

McDonnell is lovely and kind

Ha ha ha ha ha.

ChristmasSpirtsOnTheRocksPleas · 10/12/2019 20:21

Maybe it’s the fact that he openly admired mass murderers? Just a thought.

ChristmasSpirtsOnTheRocksPleas · 10/12/2019 20:23

@katseyes7 what does the YS have to do with it? As an Australian I shudder at the huge numbers of people in Britain who die needlessly waiting ages for treatment.

Justanotherlurker · 10/12/2019 20:23

The amount of people in the States who have gone bankrupt and lost their homes because of medical bills is terrifying.

How come every time discussion around the NHS happens we by pass the nordic countries or rest of europe. No one is even suggesting we go down the full US route (which would be political suicide), I mean you could cling onto the russian leaked report if you want and then try and work out who that report is attacking and who the russians would actually prefer in power (hint it's the one who is generally anti nato with a leader who wanted us to send data from the Salisbury attack to russia...)
