I find Corbyn deeply unsettling

There is something about the man that makes me shudder - the cold detachment of the man.

I really do worry about what would be unleashed if he were elected.

I can cope with much of the sentiment in the Labour manifesto, but not the man. Similar feelings about Mc Donnell, but he seems to manage to pull out some humanity in interviews

@katseyes7 I have to take issue with what you said, as an animal lover, on behalf of all alley cats. How very dare you Grin

lilgreen · 10/12/2019 19:52

I see passionate and thoughtful. When I look at Boris I see entitlement and arrogance.

MaMaMaMySharona · 10/12/2019 19:52

Also anyone still peddling the IRA sympathiser and antisemite rubbish has clearly done absolutely none of their own research and is just relying on right wing press headlines to form their opinions.

Jeremy Corbyn has categorically always been on the right side of history. His voting record says it all, as do the TWO peace prizes he received for his efforts in getting the Good Friday Agreement in place (something some Tories were against).

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/12/2019 19:53

Oh and Boris is a warm hearted guy is he

TinMansBrain · 10/12/2019 19:53

I'm not a fan, but cold and detached?

No.

I worry more about Boris Johnson's vilification of single mothers and working class men. And him being PM.

YABU.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 10/12/2019 19:54

Cold detachment describes the implementation of cruel tory policies quite well

katseyes7 · 10/12/2019 19:54

Wakingupnow l apologise profusely if l have offended any alley cats. My bad.

fropper1 · 10/12/2019 19:55

I really like him! He's calm and the only one who cares!

lilgreen · 10/12/2019 19:57

I liked him even more when it became evident he doesn’t watch the Queen’s speech. Neither do I. Very annoyed with the interviewer saying “It’s on at 3 when EVERYONE watches it!” Well we never have and never will.

Yarboosucks · 10/12/2019 19:57

I am not voting for Johnson. He is abhorrent, but his flaws are so transparent

I hear and read the words that Corbyn say and they are (broadly) good words. That is not my point. There is something about him that I find chilling. I suppose I sense ruthlessness.

Treaclepie19 · 10/12/2019 19:58

Cold and detached?? Corbyn?!
I'm so confused. I think he seems warm and genuine.

Lumene · 10/12/2019 19:59

YANBU Corbyn gives me the creeps.

FizzAfterSix · 10/12/2019 19:59

@Squirrelblanket; you're being ridiculous.
If someone doesn't like or trust the leader of a party it's hardly unsurprising that she doesn't want to vote for that party.

The amount of anti-Semitism in the Labour Party is off the scale so I pray they won't get in.

darkriver19886 · 10/12/2019 19:59

I watched him in a mean tweets video yesterday and found him warm and charming.

Don't ever get that feeling with Johnson.

MarshaBradyo · 10/12/2019 19:59

Lol at ruthlessness. No I’m not getting that.

The Cons are good at doing whatever it takes though

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 10/12/2019 20:00

MaMaMaMySharona

I did my research during the Labour Party Leadership contest in 2015 did you ?

I was already aware of Corbyn as many people who have had an interest in the Labour Party (as I am as I was a party member for over 20 years) were and aware he voted against his own party numerous times

So no my knowledge is not from right wing press they didn’t show much interest in him as he wasn’t expected to win - this such an old line

Right side of history Grin that’s right from his PR team

Few can claim even if they like him that he has been a good opposition leader - he has been shockingly poor he simply isn’t leader material

MrsMaiselsMuff · 10/12/2019 20:00

I've met Corbyn a few times. I'm autistic so socially pretty awkward, and he is one of few people who puts me at ease. He's patient. I stumble over words and ramble, but however busy he is he listens.

OP your description is far from the reality.

Lumene · 10/12/2019 20:01

Also anyone still peddling the IRA sympathiser and antisemite rubbish has clearly done absolutely none of their own research and is just relying on right wing press headlines to form their opinions.

Yep the Chief Rabbi has no clue about antisemitism, gets all his views from the right wing media, no idea what he’s talking about Hmm

Thoughtlessinengland · 10/12/2019 20:01

Oh dunno. I feel a bit unsettled and shudder myself really when I hear our prime minister call Muslim women letterboxes. But clearly coldness (apparently) is real shudder-inducing.

FizzAfterSix · 10/12/2019 20:01

Really sorry that so many posters are belittling Jewish people's concerns over anti-Semitism in the Labour Party and seeing it as some kind of `right wing plot'.
Please educate yourselves.

catsarecute · 10/12/2019 20:01

This is what I find deeply unsettling. P48 Conservative manifesto.

If they win this gives them a blank cheque to change everything. Including the ability of the courts to challenge parliament. And 'updating' (read weakening) the Human Rights Act. We should be very, very afraid of a Conservative government.

"After Brexit we also need to look
at the broader aspects of our
constitution: the relationship between
the Government, Parliament and the
courts; the functioning of the Royal
Prerogative; the role of the House
of Lords; and access to justice for
ordinary people. The ability of our
security services to defend us against
terrorism and organised crime is
critical. We will update the Human
Rights Act and administrative law to
ensure that there is a proper balance
between the rights of individuals, our
vital national security and effective
government."

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 10/12/2019 20:02

Fed up with these threads placing anti labour scaremongering titles on active threads. This campaign really has been the pits.

Saddler · 10/12/2019 20:03

Absolutely agree OP

Drabarni · 10/12/2019 20:03

Detached and cold he isn't, whether you like his politics or not.
He really is the only one who cares and McDonnell is lovely and kind, especially to ethnic minorities.

MaMaMaMySharona · 10/12/2019 20:03

FizzAfterSix that’s a dangerous and incorrect statement. Actually, the percentage of antisemitism in the Labour party is lower than many others.

Doesn’t make it ok, obviously. Antisemitism shouldn’t exist within any party.
