So i originally followed Mrs Hinch when i saw her on This Morning and i thought i would be a great way of getting cleaning tips.....which originally it was. But now i think it has turned into this one big advertising campaign and what items she has been gifted.
So i have decided to unfollow her and i feel so much better for it.
What are your thoughts?

Yes I agree. It’s got too much. She buy and gets gifted so much yet her house is like a show home? She just sell on most of what she gets gifted?

I followed her in the early days and quite liked it but can’t bear hear or see about her now. It’s not that she’s a terrible person, she seems lovely but she’s cleaning a clean home. A real cleaning blog for me is a house that actually needs cleaning!

She’s also making everyone broke because they buy all the Products she advertises!

CLEANING is fashionable? Huh?!?!?!

the organised mum
Mrs Hinch obviously
KonMarie

the list goes on

yes, I'd say it's very fashionable.

astralweaks · 10/12/2019 20:16

Meant this 🤣 not that 🐖!!

astralweaks · 10/12/2019 20:18

Cleaning is not fashionable. What an odd thing to say. Perhaps you could explain what you mean?

MamaFlintstone · 10/12/2019 20:18

I never really got it tbh; the all grey house is dull and who the hell wants to use that many chemicals in their home. Beauty/fashion instagrammers are more my thing and they all lose their charm once everything becomes #ad #gifted and there’s nothing to stand them apart from regular magazine advertising.

astralweaks · 10/12/2019 20:19

The list above is so limited, it’s laughable.

LoungeLizardLhama · 10/12/2019 20:22

Mrs Hinch is a one woman climate catastrophe encouraging people to use all those chemicals!Shock

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2019 20:22

Many years ago all of my friends and I were doing FlyLady which involved shining your sink before bed and throwing all your belongings out. Grin

astralweaks · 10/12/2019 20:23

Just to make clear, I care for my living space and I think it reflects me - and OH to some extent. So it is not grey! And I don’t think I am being oh so fashionable when I open the Cif. Confused

Shesalittlemadam · 10/12/2019 20:27

I used to like Kate McCabe but now it's all "Look at my huge Georgian Mansion and all the free stuff I've been given!!" Hmm

The final straw for me was when she said she fancied some new artwork for her 'snug' and so she messaged some company essentially asking for a freebie and low & behold two expensive pieces or artwork arrived HmmHmmHmm

I already found it a little grating how she brags about well off she is and that she shops in Sue Ryder & Poundland

HermioneMakepeace · 10/12/2019 20:30

The world needs an eco version of Mrs Hinch. A beautiful, stylish home filled with reclaimed furniture and eco-friendly materials. And cleaned with eco-friendly products not in single-use plastic, like vinegar and bicarb, etc.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 10/12/2019 20:32

Aw wow, past blast - forgot all about Flylady Grin
Wasn't that the one where you got dressed and shoed first thing to feel ready for the day, and shine your sink? (I think)
and get a bag and find 27 things to chuck out whether it just wrappers, rubbish or whatever lol Grin
Something like that

Shinyshoes2 · 10/12/2019 20:42

I don't get the " filter " .... to me I wouldn't know her if I passed her on the street because on Instagram she looks about 80 .... but she goes on telly ??
Is she trying to be incognito or no ??
If she tries to be anonymous then why go on telly showing your face
Clearly I missing something

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2019 20:42

Yes Wotcha you had to get dressed and put your shoes on straight away (controversial now!).
The site is still there and still looks the same complete with sink shining video. I got rid of so much stuff though, it was ahead of it's time. Grin

As for Mrs Hinch, I had a friend who used to work for her when she was a sales manager for an advertising company. She has always been an amazing sales woman (won awards for top sales woman and had the gift of the gab) and was always outgoing, confident and loud. Nothing like the 'hairdresser' with anxiety, girl next door she claimed to be. She made out she was humbled by going to all these fancy places as her instagram career took off, but the reality is, she used to visit these places anyway when she won sales awards to go to them.

This doesn’t surprise me in the slightest, I don’t think a hairdresser with anxiety would be able to put their life out there for public comment, or have such an expensive house, car, furniture and flamboyant wedding. I’ve no doubt she’s very clever indeed and the whole thing was planned as an experiment or partnership with P&G. I’m interested to see how it all ends. I’ve no doubt she’ll put a foot wrong or a disgruntled former colleague will sell a story to the papers.

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2019 20:43

The 'Gretel' filter is to stop the papers using her Instagram stories apparently.

MY list might be limited because I can't be bothered, but feel free to google and make your own. Making cleaning some kind of way of life happens to be fashionable, so what? Not sure what your problem is.
I haven't waited for the trend to keep a house the way I like, it doesn't mean the trend isn't here right now.

Sparklingbrook · 10/12/2019 20:45

It makes me wonder if she has got all of her neighbours to sign a gagging order. Grin

andpancakesforbreakfast · 10/12/2019 20:46

there are loads, you just need to find the right one you like to follow.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 10/12/2019 20:48

I don't get the " filter " .... to me I wouldn't know her if I passed her on the street because on Instagram she looks about 80 .... but she goes on telly ??

That's the point - it's only fairly recently that she's started showing herself on camera, before it was just her arm cleaning for example, you never saw her.
Then after she appeared on telly (This Morning, I think?) she showed herself and the papers kept picking her up and featuring her - she finds they leave her alone more when she's Gretel and she gets to keep her account more anon like back when she started.
I only know this stuff as I've been watching her stories for ages now lol

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 10/12/2019 20:49

Bold fail - top bit was supposed to be quoted comment

Shinyshoes2 · 10/12/2019 20:52

" gretel ".... Now that is very interesting and media savvy !

PeterRouseTheFleshofMankind · 10/12/2019 21:06

I don't understand where she puts all the utter tat she is gifted? She is always opening some crappy teapot or storage basket or personalised thing for Ronnie, and yet there is nothing anywhere in her house? Does she just chuck it all or regift it?

NemophilistRebel · 10/12/2019 21:16

@peterrousethefleshofmankind - she had an extension for that

Symbollove · 12/12/2019 10:31

Her instafame will die soon, I don't say that out of spite, I've seen many instagrammers having to vlog their entire life on YouTube to make money as their instafame started to die down

I occasionally watch her stories, couldn't do it everyday tho, too repetitive.

I refuse to buy products that are promoted by 'influencers' as I feel it loses family when thousands of influencers recieve it for free; and I've seen many who then sell it because they themselves don't need it! So not only do they make money from ads they then profit from selling the items
