To not understand some mnetters obsession with wearing pyjamas

Sure, it's nice on a dark winter's evening to relax in pj's in front of the telly. But I see threads on here where posters can't wait to get in the door after work to put them on, or don't want visitors on Christmas day because they can't stay in their pyjamas etc etc.
What's the big deal about wearing pyjamas? Yes they're comfy but it's not like most modern clothes are tortuous to wear.

You don’t need PJs to take your bra off.

Don’t own PJs, don’t own a nightie.

Don’t want to spend evenings in wearing nightwear and can’t imagine having sex with PJs on Smile.

if you wear pyjamas around the house I hope you all change into fresh ones for bed!

I definitely don't do that!

I love PJs but wouldn't want to be in them during the day - like others it would make me feel like an invalid. I might put them on after dinner in the eve to sit on the sofa & watch TV before bed but that's it. I get up in the morning and put clothes on that I wear for the rest of the day. If I have to wear smart clothes I'll switch to casual clothes - jeans or leggings when I get home. I have no need to take my bra off but I do understand people that do - I just don't get the going about your daily business - cleaning the house and cooking dinner etc. dressed in PJs.

Answering the door to delivery men during the day dressed in PJs and a dressing gown? Definitely not for me.
On another thread someone posted that they even had tradesmen working in the house while they - the poster - wandered about during the day wearing PJs and a dressing gown. I was flabbergasted.

I'm not a pj wearer... but I do strip off and put my dressing gown on when I know nobody else is going knock the door etc. I live alone. Fuck it 😂😂

I never wear pyjamas in bed, too hot. So mine are “day” clothes in a way. I wfh and get up in the morning and the pjs go on then! I only wear outdoor clothes if I need to go out. My clothes aren’t horrendously uncomfortable, it’s just pjs are more comfortable! And why not be the most comfortable you can be? If I get a delivery or something I couldn’t care less what the person thinks. I doubt they care either.

As soon as the kids are in bed I shower and put my pyjamas on. It’s not really comfort related, just that I like to be mostly ready for bed before I sit down in the evening so all I have to do when I go up to bed is clean my teeth. For me it’s like kitchen is clear, toys are away, kids are in bed, my day is done. I get dressed as soon as I’m up in the morning though, can’t stand staying in pyjamas then, feels slovenly even though watching tv in them in the evening is fine Xmas Hmm

Cremebrule · 04/12/2019 09:33

It depends what I’m wearing. Jeans will come off in favour of pj bottoms. If I’m wearing work dresses they’ll be swapped out as soon as possible. If I’m in leggings, I wouldn’t bother changing. Basically if I’m at home, I want to be as comfy as possible.

" can’t imagine having sex with PJs on"

I hear they have invevted pyjamas you can take off now.

Sweetpea55 · 04/12/2019 16:39

We call them 'snuggies'

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 04/12/2019 17:21

YABU. I live in my pjs at home.

Ablemaybel · 04/12/2019 19:09

I don't wear pyjamas, too hot as I have a feather/down duvet. I do like to change when I get home for the evening though.
I usually leave the top on I'm wearing, but change into joggers, fluffy socks and slippers.

FelicisNox · 04/12/2019 20:18

For most people is very psychological and if that's what makes people happy then who are we to judge?

I'm straight into my PJs, as soon as I've done dinner, tidied up and had a bath. Why would I want to sit on my sofa in the same clothes I went to work in? (Yuk) and likewise, what is the point of changing into loungewear after work to change again for bed? It's twice as much effort and twice as much washing.

I used to work very long shifts so for me it's a hangover from that. It signifies that I'm clean, cosy and relaxed.

What I take issue with is people in the supermarket shopping in their pjs, some people may have a decent reason but the majority are just lazy grubs.

Harls1969 · 04/12/2019 20:20

I love to wear PJs in the evening and I often slob about in them until midday at the weekend, but the only time I wear them all day is if I'm poorly. It's a comfort thing (no bra too 🙌)

Tubbymummy44 · 04/12/2019 23:59

I find clothes incredibly uncomfortable. I'm in my pyjamas or loungewear type clothes as soon as I'm through the door.
