To not understand some mnetters obsession with wearing pyjamas

Sure, it's nice on a dark winter's evening to relax in pj's in front of the telly. But I see threads on here where posters can't wait to get in the door after work to put them on, or don't want visitors on Christmas day because they can't stay in their pyjamas etc etc.
What's the big deal about wearing pyjamas? Yes they're comfy but it's not like most modern clothes are tortuous to wear.

I remember sleeping in my jeans as a teen. I twitch and shudder just thinking about it.

Jack80 · 03/12/2019 19:33

It's the comfort and relax feeling but I only do it when have no visitors

Rosebel · 03/12/2019 19:38

As soon as I'm home I shower and get ready for bed as long as I'm not going anywhere /expecting anyone. Just so much more comfortable and relaxing.
Not on Christmas Day though, that's a day for dressing up.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 03/12/2019 19:51

@viccat

You should ask my DM, she's obsessed with changing outfits throughout the day... Get dressed and walk the dog in dog walking outfit, come home and get dressed in daytime clothing, go to the supermarket, come home and change into leggings and long tunic for home, prepare for another dog walk and change into dog walking outfit again... grin

I think I may actually be your DM 😅

Thefaceofboe · 03/12/2019 19:54

I live in pjs. I finished work today at 12 and was in pjs by 12.15 Grin

Murree · 03/12/2019 20:08

I do come home from work and get straight into my PJs but then I do finish work at 10pm!
But I hate being in them in the day. Once I'm up, I get dressed - either joggers or leggings if I'm at home or leggings or jeans if I'm going out.

SnugglySnerd · 03/12/2019 20:11

I don't want to cook dinner and then eat it with 3 small and sticky children in my work clothes. Plus I can't wait to get my bra off when I get in. It seems like a waste of time to get changed twice in the evening so I just put my pjs on when I get home from work.

Mummyontherocks · 03/12/2019 20:15

They can be tortuous if you have autism.

CanIHaveADrink · 03/12/2019 20:26

People who change in their pjs straight away must have much posher pjs than me.
Mine are not fit to be worn around all day around the house!

lotusbell · 03/12/2019 20:32

I will get in mine as soon as I've had my tea if I'm not going out but I can't slob about in them for long in the morning once I'm up, makes me feel grubby.

Ponoka7 · 03/12/2019 20:51

I have Pj's that I sleep in if it's very cold, but I usually take them off half way through the night.
I then have Pj's that I wear in the house.
Then I have Pj's that I clean in, which are usually my house ones that have got a bit scruffy.

This started when I was only in the house to eat and do essential stuff, otherwise I was out doing stuff/gardening/working/socialising.

I buy Primark Pj's which can be thrown on a hot wash. I'm clumsy and after damaging clothes with cleaning products, doing gardening, or my dogs (German Shepards) managing to. I started to save money by wearing Pj's instead.

If your a neat and tidy family, without messy pets etc, your clothes won't go through the same wear and tear.

Like a pp's Mum, I have dog walking clothes as well and have been known to throw on walking boots.

Ponoka7 · 03/12/2019 20:53

I always get up, get a bath and put one of my categories of Pj's on. I never wear what I've slept in the next day.

Same. I do have PJ days in Winter (not Christmas Day). When I do I have to shower and put a pair of my newish ones on. I've even been known to put a bit of foundation and mascara on which makes me really wierd. I feel a bit pretty and very chilled.

MargotB7 · 03/12/2019 21:21

There is loads of nice stuff these days. Tonight though I'm still wearing my jumper I've had on today but the PJ bottoms are on.

RedWineIsFabulous · 03/12/2019 21:25

Love love love Pjs... or " comfies" as we call them in this house...

We all shower when we get in from school/ work etc and pjs go straight on.

Love the feeling of being freshly clean, no bra, bare face and feet.

maureen17 · 03/12/2019 21:33

if you wear pyjamas around the house I hope you all change into fresh ones for bed!

MdNdD · 03/12/2019 21:39

I love wearing PJs. But really only here in the UK because I find jeans and any long trousers incredibly uncomfortable.
i’m not overweight but I am from a hot country. In much warmer climates I am more than happy with a sun dress, skirts, shorts etc. it’s the trousers, leggings with thermals underneath etc that is just uncomfortable.

So, I am straight in the door and into PJs as much as possible and totally get it.

MargotB7 · 03/12/2019 21:40

Maureen17 - I don't wear them in bed. Why, is your house dirty?

Rosebel · 03/12/2019 21:50

I put clean pjs on when I get home from work so I don't change again at bedtime. Neither me or my house are that dirty.

amusedbush · 03/12/2019 22:06

I don’t own pyjamas but the second I get home I put my hair up, take my bra off and put on old leggings and a baggy tshirt. Sitting around in my own house dressed in ‘proper’ clothes sounds awful Grin

MargotB7 · 03/12/2019 22:23

I work in an office but wear jeans and a smart top most days. I would feel so restricted sat at home all night dressed like this. I wear the right size clothes too.

whostoletheeyeoutyourteddybear · 03/12/2019 22:40

If I'm home then I'm I'm my jammies. As soon as I get in it's regular bra off and sports bra on (huge boobs), fluffy jammies on, fluffy socks on, stock up the fire and start the dinner. Later, cuddle the dogs, kid and cat and watxh a movie. Our home is our sanctuary. And no, I dont wear anything in bed but I do dress up on Christmas day.

shouldhavecalleditoatabix · 03/12/2019 22:44

Another pj/joggers lover. I have cup D breasts and I hated bras. Especially under wires. Then I realised I don't actually have to wear one. My breasts aren't particularly saggy and quite frankly it's nobody's business but mine if I wear one. I now have comfort bras which I still wear for work, mainly for warmth and to prevent nipples peeking through my blouse but at home or nipping out to the shops etc I opt for a vest top and no bra. It has revolutionised my comfort! I save the old underwire/shaping type bra for a night out only. Couldn't care less if others are bothered by my womanly bits jiggling. DP likes them loose and I adore the freedom!Grin

aspoonfulofyourownmedicine · 03/12/2019 22:52

I don't understand why people get so bothered about what other people do or don't do 🤷‍♀️. I change into PJs as soon as I can. Once I'm home, it's shower and PJs on, whether that's 4pm or 8pm, I sleep naked, so strip off when I go to bed anyway. I work with young children, and often come home covered in glue, paint, dinner, saliva, snot..... I change nappies every day too, and despite wearing PPE, I'm not 'clean' until I'm home and have.been showered/changed.

Anyone who comes to mine unexpectedly will be someone who will know I'm in my jarmies at that time and won't be surprised when I open the door 😁

keffie12 · 04/12/2019 00:31

Love my pjs and loungewear and I am also one who changes into it once I am in asap! Having health issues too, means it so much comfortable to ping the bra off and put the pjs on and ah relax
