Have you ever taken drugs?

Inspired by another, more serious thread. Am curious.. how many Mumsneters have, at some point in their lives taken anything stronger than smoking a bit of weed?

Yes. Weed, mushrooms and MDMA. The latter is the most amazing thing on this planet. Just the most incredible feeling.

I have babies now though so those days are behind me.

Not even weed but been around loads who did. Great thing about real friends was no peer pressure.

Yes in the 80s 90s clubbing scene. Fabulous time. Ibiza raves. Wouldn't now though.

No never ! Too many horror stories when it all goes wrong . Not worth the risk for me regardless of how good it must feel .

Yep. 40s now but from age 17 until early 30s -tried weed, speed, acid, pills/MDMA, coke, ketamine. Mostly MDMA which seriously is the best feeling in the world, nothing comes close.

I do feel nostalgic for mdma but as a mother now would never risk taking anything, although I do think the risk would be minimal.

In my experience it's very normal for people to have dabbled when young and everybody I know who did is now a settled professional. No casualties.

Yes, a few times via a boyfriend. Would never dream of it now for several reasons, first of which is my family. But family aside I wouldn't touch hard drugs now that I know so much more about the supply chain and the damage these people do to innocent people in their communities - I naively used to think the supply chain just consisted of and affected criminals, who deserved any consequences.

Yes. MDMA is beautiful, so much love and friendliness. If we could put all the world leaders on it we'd have the planet sorted out in no time. Alcohol is evil and should be made illegal while we all get wired and love each other.

Took the tiniest puff of a spliff once 20 years ago which someone gave me after I'd experience a terrible bereavement but I didn't smoke so had no idea what to do really.

However, I've been prescribed morphine several times and taken a Valium prescribed by gp which was for anxiety. I remember absolutely not giving a shit and totally see the appeal.

Not tempted to try any recreationally as I totally don't trust myself to not get carried away.

I tried speed once. It made me fall asleep. And cannabis made me fit. I've decided that I've got faulty wiring and thought it best not to try anything else.

I'm a bit Hmm at the judgemental posters who think that anyone who hasn't tried anything else hasn't lived.

I'm 61 and only knew a few weed smokers when I was young, and one girl who used LSD. She had a horrifying flashback at a party I was at.

Apart from that no-one I know takes drugs or has admitted to taking them in the past. I know drugs are supposed to be easily available but I really wouldn't know how to get any. Not that I'd want to.

I'll stick to legal drugs instead - alcohol.

Dabbled in my student days. Recreational only. I don't seem to have an addictive personality.

I lost 2 friends to drugs along the way however. And two friends I know from those days both seriously ill now but alcohol related in each case. All male.

Nothing at all. It never appealed to me and I grew up with some heavy drug users (heroin etc) and that kind of put me off taking anything

Also my cousin was a heroin addict and he warned me very strongly never even to try it once. He said it's so amazing that even though he's managed to wean himself off it he misses it everyday and would love to to do it again nothing in real life ever comes close once you've tried it apparently.

I used to work in the music industry where drugs are plentiful as you know.

Drugs make even the funniest and interesting people really fucking boring IMO. They think they're super fun when they're quite the opposite.

I'm a Londoner, 45 years old, so did all my partying in the late 80s/90s and did pretty much everything apart from H. Last time I touched coke was 7 years ago and it was one line, the time before that was 10 years previous. I don't regret it, I had a blast.

Would never do it again though.

I’ve never taken even a bit of weed. No form of illicit drug whatsoever. Never had a cigarette over my lips either. I do drink alcohol though
