Have you ever taken drugs?

Inspired by another, more serious thread. Am curious.. how many Mumsneters have, at some point in their lives taken anything stronger than smoking a bit of weed?

Yes, clubbing in the late 80s/90s. They were the happiest days of my life.

I still do now and again. About once a year from a good source and test them.

Everything I’ve tried has been overrated and/or my mind can’t cope with it. All in all, drugs just aren’t my bag, and I find those who indulge openly in them dull. But maybe it’s because I come across too many middle aged coke heads...

Never tried, probably won't. Although I did get offered them unsolicited over instagram yesterday!

Never smoked in my life though or drank much alcohol, drinking always made me feel like shit the next day, yuck!

I was addicted to street valium after I lost my daughter 5 years ago, lost 6 months of my life, I’m thankful to have such an amazing sister to basically baby sat me until I sobered up. Awful experience. I nearly lost my family.

Not cheeky at all! I'm midforties, had a 15 year break when the kids were little and now go away occassionally to festivals with friends and a weekend of fun.

I’ve never even smoked a bit of weed. But once, at an all night party where everyone was on speed, cocaine and whatnot, I was persuaded to put the minutest amount of speed on my gums. It did nothing whatsoever of course. But it annoys me as I feel I am lying when I say I have never taken drugs!

I've smoked lots of weed, taken pills, speed and coke.
I like them all apart from pills.
I had my drink spiked once too if that counts, that was awful although I obviously don't know what it was. I'd had about 2 pints and all of a sudden I couldn't stand, whooshy vision, losing consciousness, couldn't talk.

Never taken anything not even weed. Why would you🤷‍♀️

Yep, mostly weed, mdma and coke. Recreationally clubbing and parties. As others said, some of the best times of my life.

YANBU another Gen Xer who grew up in London. Those years of dancing my tits off in pills were amazing (other substances less so but I’ve never been able to swear off anything even if it’s previously made me feel shit - have quite the self destruct button)

I would love to take E again but not sure I’d chance it now I have children and the amount of people who’ve died because of drugs wars in Colombia and Mexico make too guilty to ever do coke again. I feel really shitty for being an active part of those wars because of my recreational drug use

@Yestermost Thank you. I have no idea how I done it. I’m thankful my husband stopped covering for me, he was grieving a loss as well but he was loosing me at the time too. Never again. It wasn’t anything anyone expected me to do, I don’t even drink, smoke anything.

Timinfuckingruislip all of my friends who were into the clubbing scene and I have all done very well for ourselves, I wouldn’t touch anything now though, am very much the responsible parent.

Because it feels good, makes you feel happy, free, experience things differently. Why do people drink alcohol.

I do miss that feeling of coming up.

Loads of party drugs in my 20s and 30s. Nothing now, I can’t deal with the come downs. I can’t be spending all Sunday in bed getting over a big night when I’ve got a daughter who needs me .

Am so curious. I honestly don’t know many people who haven’t... I’m also curious about perhaps region variation etc.

Examples for me-
Went on a work night out with a group between ages maybe 22 - 50 - someone bought some coke - everyone partook.
