Inspired by another, more serious thread. Am curious.. how many Mumsneters have, at some point in their lives taken anything stronger than smoking a bit of weed?

Yes, Es, LSD, coke and various other things between the ages of 16-24...grew up and never touched them again. A fun but retrospectively a dangerous time in my life. Extremely comfortable upbringing, education and family support... I think it was teenage boredom and rebelling.

Too much of a chicken. Alcohol is enough for me.

Why are you asking OP are you a would-be dealer scoping out the customer base?
presumably we are just talking about illegal intoxicants or do you want to include alcohol?
Are you also including illegally purchased pharmaceutical products in general?

Not sure if it counts but when on uni trips a rag soaked in chloroform was often passed around for inhaling. It is a very odd to be sat on a coach seat to have that cloth put over your mouth and nose from the person sat behind.

Don't worry most of the people on that coach will be pharmacists now...

I've tried weed a couple of times when it was passed around at parties but never any hard drugs. I was always too scared to try them and still am.

I love a mushroom. Pick it myself. Suits my resilient temperament. Hate weed, reminds me of dodgy men. Would never take tablets or powdered drugs becasuse lord knows what’s in them.

No. It's never appealed to me at all. I'm older, mid-50s. In my circle when I was younger we just didn't, and I've never come across any more recently either.

Yep - and had a bloody good time too Like many others have said. Recreational clubber from late teens to 30's. Still enjoy the odd festival every now and then although the last few years have been busy making babies!

@Iamnotagoddess, it’s a long while ago but will you talk a bit about what heroin was like, I’m curious about how it actually feels.

I smoked a looot of weed for years, mushrooms etc but nothing more. I was about to start taking pills when I was 20 and then one of my flat mates died doing it

@Leflic if only I had the confidence to pick them myself. I was a student in Amserdam so used to buy them at the weekend in a punnet like in Waitrose! I used to take half a punnet at 18.00 then the other half at 22.00!
I miss those days.
Didn't take anything once of become a parent though.

I was always interested in counter culture and actually devised a 5 point plan for taking drugs at the age of 16. I planned booze, weed, acid, speed then coke then Es came along so I did them too. Too much of my youth spent reading psychedelic books.

I’ve tried almost everything in my younger days. Ironically only been addicted to Codeine after a prescription!

Yes, recreationally. i experimented a lot in my teenage years and was particularly fond of LSD.

Erm......yes. Long time ago but, yes.

It makes you forget all your anxieties and it makes you feel like you are floating on a cloud.

When you come down you throw up a lot.

It makes you very constipated and you don’t eat.

It consumes your very being.

Never taken any drugs including cannabis. I grew up in a shit home and was on a one way trip to a better life. Wasn't prepared to take any risks whatsoever.

Loads of sensimelia, ganga, in early 20's
E's and whizz in late 20's, early 30's

The e's were the best thing ever. You can't imagine how wonderful it is to come up on an E in a field with 10,000 ravers at an illegal party to the most incredible music in the universe, just the best feeling on the planet, it's seriously spiritual.

I'm in my 50's now and have teens, would never touch anything again and haven't for 20 years, god i miss it though sometimes.
