Thought it might be fun, posting here for traffic.
What do you get for free or at a very small cost that others pay for?
This is supposed to be fun by the way...
For example
I never pay for yoga classes (family member is the teacher)
I never pay for stationary or printing (get them from work)
I never pay full price for Fatface or Debenhams purchases as I have good friends working there.

What are your freebies?

During the hours I'm at work all my meals, coffee, snacks etc are free, this includes evening meal if I'm there. I also get 25% off Topshop as my mother worked for the group before retiring, she had over 25 years with them so Jeep's discount card for life

runningtogetskinny · 29/11/2019 14:48

*keeps! Ffs

stucknoue · 29/11/2019 14:49

Tea and biscuits at work, and wine too, but it's revolting communion wine, I work for a church. They wouldn't change for my funeral either but don't intend to pop my clogs any time soon

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 29/11/2019 14:49

I get a lot of free food, but not much else. I get lamb (as much as I want), also geese(from someone we allow to shoot on our land), lobsters and the occasional salmon. My son works at a bakery and they give him bags of free stuff sometimes.
So we are all pretty well fed, if nothing else!

Turquoisetamborine · 29/11/2019 14:51

Civil Servant so I'm a member of CSSC and HASSRA. I get free entry for up to six people to Royal palaces, English heritage places, a taste card, just bought some Wetland Trust tickets for £1 each and loads of savings on theme parks etc. Well
worth the 4 quid taken off my pay.

My husband works for a mobile phone company so we get 30% off mine and sons mobiles and H gets his free. He gets a new phone every few weeks so always has the latest one as well as ipads etc.

Do churches normally charge for funerals? We've never paid, but that might be because we had a close relative who was a senior-ish clergyman in our diocese. We've never paid for baptisms, weddings etc either, but most of the time it was BYOP (bring your own priest!).

I'm self-employed, so sod all work-related benefits. However, every couple of weeks I go to a meeting in a fairly corporate office, and take at least one biro from the supply on the table.

Apples - lots of neighbours leave their windfalls for passers by to pick up.

I sometimes get a discount from my lovely hairdresser, but I tend to pay him it back as a tip.

kateandme · 29/11/2019 14:53

discount on ski cabins in norway.best holidays ever.
hustled through airport in norway(family pilots)

staying in the hotel right outside the london eye!was eeeeeeee-mazing.

farming family.so really expensive meat.and products from farm shop.best cheeses ever.

staying in a b&b (not really though as it was my grandparents so we really just stayed with them and therefore in the hotel) but it felt really exciting as little ones.we had our own sign in regesters and everything.

none of this anymore because money money money so they cut and stopped it all from happening.

Eminybob · 29/11/2019 14:55

Medical advice: One of my best friends is a doctor.

Celebration cakes: SIL has her own cake making business.

LouisaJenny · 29/11/2019 14:59

Meals at work, can take anything home at the end of the week if it’s not been eaten, so I usually have enough to get me through the weekend. Food shopping bills are very low.

Stationary from work. No one bats an eyelid.

Think that’s about it.

RollOnNextYear · 29/11/2019 15:00

thenightsky · 29/11/2019 15:13

Free fancy dress outfits. DD works for a high end supplier.

x2boys · 29/11/2019 15:13

Cheap make up ,th works for a Subsidiary of Tesco ,and near Xmas time staff can purchase cosmetics for a fraction of the price they are the testers ( un used!)We also get Tesco platinum cards but rarely shop at Tesco.

EssentialHummus · 29/11/2019 15:18

DH works for a big tech company, so our phones, computers and gadgets are free or heavily discounted. The downside is that the free stuff is usually things not yet released to the public, which we are "testing" - probably massively exciting if you're a tech fiend, not so exciting when you've asked it 12 times to play an episode of Peppa and it confirms that it's added pepper to your shopping list.

I'm battling to think of anything else!

SuperficialSuzie · 29/11/2019 15:19

OH works for a wine importers. Our wine racks are always well stocked.

Booksandwine80 · 29/11/2019 15:21

Free national rail travel, discounted European train travel. Smile

redandwhite1 · 29/11/2019 15:26

I work for a large food manufacturer who also do home care and personal care products so get lots free or very cheap

Inebriati · 29/11/2019 15:26

I get some free or discounted food (but I don't always get to choose what) because family member works for a Big Supermarket and gets to take home any food that would otherwise be thrown away.

I actually like the randomness, its fun and a challenge working out what to do with them. Last year we had a freezer full of sandwiches, and atm its a million gammon steaks.

katseyes7 · 29/11/2019 15:27

Free food (toast, etc), fresh fruit and hot and cold drinks at work. Sometimes there are boxes of chocolates, cakes too.
