What do you get for free or at a very small cost?

Thought it might be fun, posting here for traffic.
What do you get for free or at a very small cost that others pay for?
This is supposed to be fun by the way...
For example
I never pay for yoga classes (family member is the teacher)
I never pay for stationary or printing (get them from work)
I never pay full price for Fatface or Debenhams purchases as I have good friends working there.

What are your freebies?

No offence @freebiefriday, but if you work for a stationery company then you really should know how to spell stationery! Remember E for Envelope.

FloreanFortescue · 30/11/2019 17:24

Chocolate for next to nothing (SIL works in a chocolate factory) so it's about 10p for most things!
Free videography/photography
Mechanical work
Horse riding lessons/livery
Accounting
French/Spanish lessons
Accommodation in Portugal, Spain, Germany, Edinburgh, Lake District, Tenerife, New York, London and Australia
Beauty treatments/waxing
Financial and legal advice

We're extremely fortunate with family!

AnnabelC · 30/11/2019 17:28

Absolutely nothing 😭

Freebiefriday · 30/11/2019 17:44

@Swisskit RTFT I explained it was an autocorrect (I’ll blame the new phone...not company phone though unfortunately) I’m not offended though I found it quite funny!

I get loads of books through my job, and promotional stationery and gadgets through DH’s job. Free electrical repairs and German lessons from DM and DF.

spacepyramid · 30/11/2019 17:49

riiiggghhhtt, OP so you work for a stationEry company but you can't actually spell stationEry??

Maybe the company is stationary because they make a loss due to giving stationery away?

nuxe1984 · 30/11/2019 17:49

You do pay for stationery/printing. This costs your company money. This money will come out of the pot before they look at how much profit they've made and whether to give you a pay rise.
Thus, indirectly, using company resources affects your salary ...

We get free meals out through a mystery dining company. We have to fill in a questionaire after every visit though.
Some time ago, I was a sales rep for a paper company and didn't have to pay for tissues, kitchen towel, toilet paper or tampons for the best part of 10 years. Most of it had damaged packaging which we had to exchange in the retailers for good stock, but who cares. We also used to swop with other reps in the likes of Asda car parks. Asda were the most stringent at demanding replacement stock for damages, so there was always lots of stuff available.

funnyfeeling · 30/11/2019 19:21

Furniture. We pretty much furnished our flat on stuff dp was given at work (removals) not in recent years though I'm guessing with facebook marketplace etc.

nevernotstruggling · 30/11/2019 19:24

A city wide and multi storey parking permit. It is the singular perk of working for the city council. It's valid at all times and has saved me hundreds in parking over the years. I am truly grateful

Sparklesocks · 30/11/2019 19:25

Massages! My job is big on wellbeing so we have a lot of initiatives designed to help staff relax. I look after the office well-being calendars - yoga, Pilates, massage, nail painting - self employed contractors come into the office for appointments with staff at reduced rates. The massage woman gives me free appointments for managing the diary for her, it’s great!

Bobbi73 · 30/11/2019 19:42

Not any more but I used to work for a corporate party planner and at the end of the night, we could take home flowers, chocolates, party bags (some were amazing with designer lipsticks etc. in), sometimes we got given champagne. It was a crappy job but the perks were amazing and my flatmates absolutely loved me!

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 30/11/2019 20:00

I’m a student so not much, but I am in Scotland so don’t have to pay tuition fees, which I would in England.... and I get £2400 a year towards childcare. I also have a disability so applied for a laptop and software to help, but have also been given a printer, enough paper to last me 5 years and quite a lot of ink too so I guess I get free printing. Nothing at uni is free, we don’t even have a kettle, so if I bring my own teabags I still have to pay Starbucks 20p for hot water. I did get a free student ticket to a conference last week and came away with 3 tote bags, 6 pens and a lanyard, so swings and roundabouts 😄

NoParticularPattern · 30/11/2019 20:04

Milk, potatoes, carrots, eggs

Celestine70 · 30/11/2019 20:18

Cheap cinema tickets. Via DH job which negotiates discounts from various retailers etc.

ToftyAC · 30/11/2019 20:35

I used to get free legal advice and legal services. Saved a mint. Now? I could get something metal electroplated for nothing.... not very usual though, or needed.

PegasusReturns · 30/11/2019 20:45

Work iPad and iPhone so if don't have my own.

Plane tickets - Good friends are pilots so we get lots of heavily discounted (90% off standby 50% off confirmed) tickets plus I travel loads for work so I currently have about 600k air miles - enough for plenty of upgrades.

DH is an architect so didn't pay any fees for renovating our house and lots of trade discounts.

bee222 · 30/11/2019 21:27

I get a lot of premium brand cosmetics, toiletries, perfume, wellness and foodie bits and bobs free through my job.
