What do you get for free or at a very small cost?

Thought it might be fun, posting here for traffic.
What do you get for free or at a very small cost that others pay for?
This is supposed to be fun by the way...
For example
I never pay for yoga classes (family member is the teacher)
I never pay for stationary or printing (get them from work)
I never pay full price for Fatface or Debenhams purchases as I have good friends working there.

What are your freebies?

Free/cheap theatre tickets.
I’m in a group online with other theatre workers and we swop our staff freebies so get to see some decent stuff.

Bus travel, so long as I endure having DS2 with me c/o his concessionary pass.

Lambzig · 30/11/2019 21:53

Free office to use in London one day a week which has allowed me to launch my business there. Lovely friend of a friend.

I went away with my adult kids and grandkids to celebrate my 60th Birthday. When I got back home there were quite a few birthday cards waiting for me, but ........................ the most important envelope was the one containing my Pensioner's Free Travel Pass! Guess who was jumping for joy Wink Grin!

My DP works in the Sports industry so we get free tickets to any sporting event he likes. Downside is he has to go away a lot and sometimes for long periods of time when tournaments are on.

asparagusnextleft5 · 30/11/2019 23:36

Train travel 😊

ItsOurTime · 30/11/2019 23:47

Painting and decorating, courtesy of my Dad who does this professionally.

MyNewBearTotoro · 30/11/2019 23:52

DP works in media (local TV/ radio station) and occasionally gets offered free tickets to gigs and festivals etc. We usually can’t go because of the kids but we do manage the odd gig and we went to the Brit awards one year.

Reading this thread, and the one about Christmas bonuses has really hammered home how shit my life has turned out

Yup, I get nowt free or cheaply.

BittyButterflyBetty · 01/12/2019 00:30

Nothing and I’m very Envy I even have to pay for work tea and coffee (I don’t though, I just bring my own).

Dh works in public transport and we don’t even get free or discounted fares through him (he does though)

Seren85 · 01/12/2019 00:33

My Dad works in a factory so is always able to bring home bits that were just getting chucked for DIY. He used to be able to make things in his down time but that went some time ago.

Peasplease21 · 01/12/2019 00:42

Discounted theatre tickets (specific theatre) through dsis

Cherrysoup · 01/12/2019 01:03

Most toothpastes like Colgate contain Sodium Fluoride. Oral B has stannous fluoride as well and it dehydrates the oral mucosa causing the sloughing.

Is this why sheets of the inside of my cheek were coming off? I had no idea what was going on! Hasn’t happened since I swapped toothpastes. .

Foghead · 01/12/2019 01:06

I used to get gadgets free from a family member who worked in tech but they’ve moved on now.
I get to see some concerts and theatre free from a friend who’s husband gets corporate tickets and doesn’t always use them.

Has someone already said it?

How can you work for a stationery company and yet, and yet...!

RainbowMum11 · 01/12/2019 01:41

@freebiefriday if you get your free stationery as a perk for work for a company that sells stationery, it's not a great sign that you can't spell it!!

MiddleClassProblem · 01/12/2019 08:23

Not a great sign of they are an in house sign writer

Whatjusthappenedthere · 01/12/2019 08:40

Lovely friend has given us one of her friends / family supermarket discount card. 10 or sometimes 20 per cent off the bill.
Free dental treatment.
Membership to a “Company Shop” that sell all sorts of food for pennies. I love some of the more random purchases for 10p that clearly never became great sellers in the super markets. Also loads of “posh” Waitrose stuff about to go out of date.

Booboosweet · 01/12/2019 08:44

nada. Free CPD 😂 A family member is a Dr. so sometimes I ask him to send a prescription for me to the chemist. That saves 60 euro for a GP visit in Ireland. My MIL works at a popular tourist venue so we would get in there free.

roiseandjim · 01/12/2019 09:05

Married to a family of dentists with the exception of my BIL whose a GP. Very handy having them around!

Poetnojo · 01/12/2019 10:12

Transatlantic flights for about 30 quid return, ds works for an airline Grin

Lanaa · 01/12/2019 20:27

First class flights. Best mate works for an airline and get the flights for the cost of the airport tax. Haven't had to fly economy in years. It's blissful.

smemorata · 01/12/2019 20:31

Heavily discounted yearly bus pass - scheme at work to get people to ditch cars when they commute.

stereolovely · 02/12/2019 20:57

I inspect empty houses and sometimes get to keep books people abandon as they move out in a rush. Sad really.
