Bare bum in dressing room , AIBU.

I take DS to swimming. I got the times wrong turned up for the wrong lesson. I decide to go back to the changing room to wait. I find it hard to breath in the pool area, 30 minutes is ok, an hour and I can feel my asthma begin to act up.

There is a dad there getting his daughters dressed (fine) he was in the pool and he's down to his underwear.

Another dad arrives with his son, him and my DS are in the same lesson.

Anyways dad of daughters decides to get dressed... he drops his pants and is stark naked in front of his daughters. He is also by the door so if another parent was coming in their child would have walked into his penis! And it wasn't less than a minute because he was drying himself as well 🤢...

There are cubicles. He could have used a towel as well.

Why would and adult choose to get naked in a dressing room at a swim lesson for children with strangers around.

AIBU to find it bizarre?

His bum was also hairy and unattractive 🤢.

My comment of olden days of male/female changing is in all the pools around us are now village changing or unisex. In saying that I would expect a man commenting on me and my hairy arse drying drying my young sons. Especially if they were sitting fully dressed "waiting" it's a bit Blush

Would not ffs sorry typo

@MrsFoxPlus4Again

I hope everyone has a great day and manages to avoid walking into anyone’s penis or see a hairy bare arse Grin

Old thread but I just came across the same situation. Inclusive change room, men, women, kids. Walking in first I saw two teens (boy and girl) , the girl just in a gstring getting stuff ready at the locker. Whatever, girls bums are accepted these days. Turned the corner where there was a family of 4, dad was just taking off his swimsuit, buns out! I quickly turned away and found a locker, and when I looked back he had a towel covering up his front while he helped get stuff from the locker for his wife. He was obviously not bothered about being bare bum with me not too far away. It actually got me thinking why girls bums are ok but mens are more threatening.

I decided on the spot that it's a change room and was kinda in a corner so I removed my clothes facing the lockers and put on my suit right in the open as well. It's really not a big deal. Just my 2 cents from what I learned this week.

Not in the UK surely? Unisex rooms will have cubicles for everyone, have never come across one like that it's completely unacceptable

ilovetofu · 20/04/2025 09:11

In the men’s changing room YABU

JLou08 · 20/04/2025 09:26

I'm really surprised by the amount of people who don't mind this. Cubicles are there for a reason. People should dress in them, especially when other people's children are around.

Sorry, but: He is also by the door so if another parent was coming in their child would have walked into his penis sounds a little hysterical. Presumably he would have moved away if anyone else came in.
Can't get too worked up about naked people in a swimming pool changing room, sorry.

I wonder if the OP has ever been to the toilet in a French cafe?

Not in the UK, never been! There are cubicles but not enough of them as they are always full. Yes lots of children including my own. Men, women, and whatever other gender you wish to name

JorgyPorgy · 21/04/2025 02:05

sounds unnecessary. But then I am probably a bit of a prude as ( slightly off topic) I get dry in the shower cubicle and get changed under my towel and I question why women walk around the changing room naked or hold towel in front of them on way to shower, rather than put it around them, no one needs to see their butts are on show. I just don’t wanna see their naked bodies 🤷‍♀️. I’d be no good living on the continent. I should start my own AIBU 😬

1950swallpaper · 26/08/2025 16:21

In the UK that is absolutely not OK. It is not relevant that it is a unisex changing room. The cubicles should be used. It is indecent exposure in the same way that it would be on the street. It is very disrespectful.

1950swallpaper · 26/08/2025 16:23

Oh - just seen it was a male changing room 🤦‍♀️ I take back previous comment!

🙄

Not sure of the set up here. Is it a mixed sex changing room or was the hairy-arsed dad in the ladies?

Gladysknightjustwalkinmyshoes · 30/08/2025 18:29

2019🤯

Laura95167 · 30/08/2025 19:36

As a dad with daughters I can see why it was easiest for him to dress in the main area.

Id honestly find it more weird the woman sitting in it not getting changed but watching others. I know you explained the asthma, but if I was in the changing room a man changing with his children wouldn't seem weird to me, a person male or female, sat dressed watching others would.

This is a zombie thread, but now I'm here:

This was covered early in the thread. It was the men's. The OP thought you went in the changing rooms corresponding to your child's sex, not yours 🙄
