Very impressed with her clear headed answers. Envy Scottish people for having someone so good fighting in their corner.

She certainly isn't the bogeyman some people seem to imagine she is, when they say things like "But...but...but Corbyn will do a deal with...der der derrrrrrrr! NICOLA STURGEON As if she's Voldemort. Good! I say in response. Frankly, when you already have a perfidious wankpuffin as PM, almost anyone would be better.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 23/11/2019 06:16

“What makes you think the SNP are anti-England”. That is one of the funniest things I have ever read on MN!!

Educational utopia? How about watching the dismantling of a once great education system before your very eyes and realising there is nothing you can do. It doesn’t matter what you say, the cult SNP will have an answer. And education is governed in Scotland - but I’m sure “Westminster” is to blame.
Scotland receives more per person than England.

I’m a Scot living in Scotland who desperately wants to save the UK, loathes the EU and loathes the SNP. And in that fact, the massive mistake Sturgeon has made is not appreciating that a good proportion of the SNP cult also loathe the EU due to its effects on fisheries, which is huge in the NE Scotland.

I’m afraid that in general it is now the less informed that continue to support the SNP or the very rich who can buy their way out. The intelligent middle utterly despise what they have done to scotland. And I can assure you “despise” is the right word.

“Once in a generation” referendum. The bloody woman is a liar

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 23/11/2019 07:16

Yep.
The posters fawning over the SNP & all it stands for, are the very same posters ( almost always English ) who call people racist for voting leave & flying the England flag,
Politically- they don’t know their arse from their elbow.

The SNP are an anti English party.

Sceptre86 · 23/11/2019 07:35

She is articulate, passionate and has been in her job a long while. I like her in that front. However, she is a nationalist, as someone from England now happily living in Scotland it feels wrong to vote for her but she will put the needs of Scots first and my kids are Scottish. My dh and friends up here with kids in the education system think it has gone to pot since the SNP came into power. They are building housing everywhere in our area which is very much needed but no thoughts on the strain on existing infrastructure. 150 houses were built in the village next to us and now the wait for an appointment at the surgery is two weeks unless for a child under 5. Prior to that you could get an appointment the same week. Also no thoughts with regard to the the impact on traffic as many people commute to Edinburgh to get to work.

Catapultaway · 23/11/2019 07:37

She's vile. She knows the damage independence would do to Scotland for the next generation but she doesn't care.
If you want her down in England then great, there are plenty up here that would gladly pay for her to relocate

GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/11/2019 07:39

YANBU. She's excellent, hope Brexit leads to an independent Scotland.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 23/11/2019 07:46

If you want her down in England then great

We don’t.

Fifthtimelucky · 23/11/2019 07:48

I was impressed with her last night and thought she came over better than the other three candidates. I disagree with her on many things though, so I wouldn't vote SNP even if I could.

HeresMe · 23/11/2019 07:50

She does represent the majority ....

In the 2016 Scottish parlimentry elections she clearly doesn't she operates a minority government in Scotland and more people voted for other party's than her.

She shouldn't have even been on question time as she isn't standing for election. Ian Blackford is leader of SNP who is standing to be a MP, but think he would fill a full half hour with his first answer.

She's pretty useless, the SNP failed a lot in Scotland they should concentrate more on running the country than independence.

foxyknoxy30 · 23/11/2019 09:08

What really annoys me is where she was talking on the question time last night she kept making out as if she was talking for the whole of Scotland as if we were all desperate to get another referendum but she doesn't care about the people who don't

downthestrada · 23/11/2019 09:17

I strongly suspect that the reason Nicola Sturgeon, the SNP and independence seem unusually unpopular on MN compared to off-line is that any criticism or doubt expressed off-line is met with personal attack, abuse and constant attempts to persuade the speaker that they are wrong. I voted No to independence and since before the Referendum I have largely kept my views to myself because expressing them has been met with antagonism and unpleasantness.

Unfortunately, in the town I was living in during the independence referendum, it was people campaigning for independence that had their property vandalised and were attacked.

I guess we will see how people vote to get a true picture.

downthestrada · 23/11/2019 09:17

Bold fail - sorry

SunsetBoulevard3 · 23/11/2019 09:31

They are building housing everywhere in our area which is very much needed but no thoughts on the strain on existing infrastructure. 150 houses were built in the village next to us

Yes, building 700 homes on green field sites ruining the area near us. The roads are already absolutely choked, the infrastructure is creaking at the seams. Doctors surgeries can't cope already and the schools are massively oversubscribed. I just see building, building everywhere, just wrecking the character of long established areas with no thought for the residents or their needs, the impact on traffic and services.
The new housing in N Berwick has ruined the town.

CactusAndCacti · 23/11/2019 09:32

I am finding this interesting, on one hand we have posters declaring Scotland to be some wonderful land of milk and honey and on the other declaring that Scotland is in an absolute mess education, health and infrastructure wise.

I'm not sure which one is the truth?

OhioOhioOhio · 23/11/2019 09:50

I'm a teacher.

In Scotland.

I see no milk, honey or school budget.

It is Individual professional integrity that is keeping it going. Not snp policy.

If you knew how much basic provision schools are going without you would be horrified.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 23/11/2019 09:56

@Cactus I do think Scotland used to be superior in its education system , health system and many other things. Those days are long gone. I remember when the SNP used to be a joke. I do think Sturgeon is a very astute politician. She speaks extremely well and she has integrity. However she is absolutely obsessed with Independence above all else and I can't see her or her party have done any good at all in Scotland. Alex Salmond is now the subject of a court case. So I'm not sure about his integrity.

reginafelangee · 23/11/2019 09:57

We've had another UK leaders debate with Nicola Sturgeon taking part

...

London lefties: "I tell you what, that Nicola Sturgeon is really impressive."

Scottish lefties: "She's quadrupled austerity to councils and still blames the Tories for everything she's responsible for that's gone bad."

London lefties [not remotely listening]: "Sooo brilliant."

...

Scottish lefties: "You realise she won the last Scottish election on a pledge not to raise income taxes? Exactly like the Tories?"

London lefties [still completely oblivious]: "She's just so right about how awful the Tories are. I wish I could vote for her."

Scottish lefties: [banging heads off tables]

...

London lefties: "She's so right about Brexit and the economic damage it would cause."

Scottish lefties: "She campaigns for Scotland to leave the UK, which itself would cause huge economic damage, and she lies about Scotland being able to stay in the EU afterwards."

London lefties: "Yes, staying in the EU is good."

...

Scottish lefties: "You are against dividing people by creating new and unnecessary borders, and you strongly oppose the dangerous nationalism that created Brexit, right?"

London lefties: "Oh absolutely right."

Scottish lefties: "So...?"

London lefties: "I wish the SNP stood here so I could vote for them."

MzPumpkinPie · 23/11/2019 09:57

Are you feeling ok op ? Maybe you've got a bit of a fever !

Bloomburger · 23/11/2019 10:00

Sturgeon giving everyone in Scotland free university education, prescriptions and baby boxes has just added to their massive deficit. 👏👏👏

SunsetBoulevard3 · 23/11/2019 10:01

The raising of stamp duty a few years ago beyond the levels in England is also another bug bear of mine!

ginghamstarfish · 23/11/2019 10:03

Clear headed ONLY about making her name by gaining independence. I live in Scotland and know nothing else about her policies, or if she has any aside from the ridiculous notion of independence.

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/11/2019 10:06

I've not heard anything positive about education recently, it's a fricking mess.

TooLateThePhalarope · 23/11/2019 10:06

I do think Scotland used to be superior in its education system , health system and many other things. Those days are long gone

Agreed long gone re education.

Bloomburger · 23/11/2019 10:06

I would like to know whether Nicola Sturgeon associated with Alex Salmond after he was arrested or charged with attempted rape and sexual assaults on women

^ and this. We are castigating Prince Andrew for associating with Epstein but apparently NS broke ministerial code by not reporting meetings she had had with AS

Iggi999 · 23/11/2019 10:31

Go no. She’s more annoying than Lulu even
What connection does she have with Lulu? Or is she the only other Scottish person you can think of? Hmm

@Butterisbest yes and no - it's racism under the Equality Act, which includes nationality.
