Very impressed with her clear headed answers. Envy Scottish people for having someone so good fighting in their corner.

Dont shes a fucking liability

MistyCloud · 22/11/2019 21:52

@Nearly47 No way.

She doesn't care about anyone except Scotland. Not a fan of hers at all.

FizzyIce · 22/11/2019 21:52

You can fuck right off

UrsulaPandress · 22/11/2019 21:53

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

Biggreen87 · 22/11/2019 21:55

Have you been drinking op?

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/11/2019 21:57

I don't think she is amazing or excellent, and I don't think Scotland is nearly as progressive as they like to make out either, and I think Ruth Davidson went a long way towards making voting Tory in Scotland ok too

But up against the others she looked polished and experienced. It wasn't exactly tough competition...

pobparker · 22/11/2019 21:57

YABVU
Nationalism by its nature is divisive , Sturgeon is a Nationalist
She does not represent the Scots who voted to remain in the UK

Chloemol · 22/11/2019 21:57

Yes

Nearly47 · 22/11/2019 22:00

@TheMidasTouch, If we start asking who has been associated with people involved with sexual crimes .... Our PM for example doesn't seem at all bothered about the accusations against Trump. Or Andrew ....

That's the fundamental issue i think pobparker; independence is so divisive (rather like Brexit) and it's such a big issue that it just drives a huge chasm through Scottish politics.

I did have to laugh at the claim that there was a proper plan in 2014 for what independence would have looked like though. What the white wish list Nicola? What was the currency plan again....oh

longwayoff · 22/11/2019 22:03

User3421090989098 · 22/11/2019 22:04

No thanks

OverByYer · 22/11/2019 22:04

No thank you. Her voice is like nails on a blackboard

Nearly47 · 22/11/2019 22:06

People saying she is a liability, how so? Honestly interested as I don't leave in Scotland

Many middle class scots dislike the SNP and Sturgeon.

StatisticallyChallenged · 22/11/2019 22:33

Don't think it's limited to middle class scots...but it suited the divisive rhetoric to blame it all on posh rich folk in 2014

downthestrada · 22/11/2019 22:51

She’s very popular in the town I am from and other towns I have lived in in Scotland. I always find mumsnet fascinating when discussing Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP - it just seems so different from my experience and the opinions of people in the places I have lived.

PP saying that Scotland is outperforming other parts of the U.K. in some areas - I think this is true. Whilst it shouldn’t stop us from aiming for better, I think we do need to acknowledge things that are good.

downthestrada · 22/11/2019 22:53

Many in the borders dislike her and the snp but I think opinions are changing. Hard not to with what’s going on in politics at the moment.

spacepyramid · 22/11/2019 22:55

I'd prefer her to Boris Johnson. This is not a ringing endorsement.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 22/11/2019 22:55

Having experienced both the English and Scottish NHS recently I am so grateful I am under care of the Scottish one.*

yogafailure · 22/11/2019 22:56

Christ no, I'm Scottish and I wouldn't want her leading me as far as my front gate. I have to switch channels when she appears on the TV screen as DH will launch anything nearby at it. I hope we never have to go through 2014 again...what a nightmare that was. She certainly doesn't speak for me or many folk I know despite her constantly speaking for "the whole of Scotland" 🤔👿

TARSCOUT · 22/11/2019 22:57

Good god no

SunsetBoulevard3 · 22/11/2019 23:01

Not my experience. The NHS in Scotland is far worse. They won’t refer to a specialist unless you are dying on the doorstep. Waiting lists are much longer. Their knowledge doesn’t seem as good. They seem under much more pressure and seem to care less. The attitude to lack of vitamin D and it’s effects are brushed off with ‘everyone in Scotland is deficient’. So they don’t see any need to test for deficiency or supplement. No provision for mental health issues.
Roadworks going on all the time everywhere.
Schools very underfunded and bullying seems not to be taken seriously.
The Police force on its knees.
I don’t see any good coming from the SNP
Her claim that the endemic of drug use is people who took drugs in the eighties is ridiculous. Drug taking, suicide and depression are at record highs.

ThanksMateThanksMate · 22/11/2019 23:01

I'm Scottish, live in Scotland and have voted Scottish Labour for the majority of my voting life.
When Nicola Sturgeon became first minister and then we sent 50+ SNP reps Westminster I decided to pay a bit more attention to what the parties actually did for our nation.
I think she has integrity, intelligence and vision. No other party is led by anyone similar.
I would like to live in an equally-footed, self-governing country alongside our European neighbours. What is wrong with that?

SunsetBoulevard3 · 22/11/2019 23:06

Someone told me recently that before the SNP got in there was finding for the teaching of two languages inPrimary schools. A friend of mine taught German in several schools under this scheme.
As soon as the SNP got in all the funding was pulled. Tells you something.
