AIBU?

I can't watch the leaders debate tonight. I'm too angry.

I'm too angry about brexit. And the effect it'll have on us all. I can see a tory majority happening and it sickens me. I don't know what's happened to ordinary people. They've fell for something that will make their lives worse, sold to them by an elite that has shafted them.

I can't fucking bare it.

Thanks to the op for tipping me off; I didn't know it was on so will avoid.

He's going with the will of the people. How could anyone with any disabled friends/ elderly relatives/ children vote tory? Surely it's only billionaires, bankers and people that don't understand the damage the conservatives have done who could possibly vote for them. It genuinely puzzles me.

I thought Julie Etchington was dreadful - stopped any debate flowing. It needed someone strong running it.

@Mamasaurus82

I remember the damage labour did last time they were in power. I voted them in and then couldn’t wait to vote them back out.

@EverdeRose, I think the point is just when the research is so strong and the long hours culture is so damaging to health of the population, that it's a policy worth exploring. I think it's interesting.

True DBML - austerity is the result of there being no money left after the last Labour govt.

I am fine with Boris continuing to ask Corbyn about Brexit - because it’s unbelievable for someone running for PM to not have a definitive stance on the key issue for the country at this time.

Smilingelizabeth

His glasses probably aren't the most important thing in the world.

But... They make him look ruffled, like the debate has affected him and Boris has got under his skin, and also a bit scruffy. You'd imagine PR wise they'd want him to look a bit more put together and be able to control the story, since when he isn't the story is always how unkempt he looks (think of anorakgate at the cenotaph)

I guess they would vote Tory because they think voting for someone different would make things even worse.

They were both shite.

Felt a bit sorry for Jc there, he was outclassed and on the back foot from the start, his brexit policy is just too unclear, and then he started talking shite about selling the nhs which Johnson put to bed immediately.

Don't think he really stood a chance. The social media out put will tell all by tomorrow but I suspect Boris won and labour face another drop based on Jc's performance.

If he had said which way he'd campaign he'd probably have come off better,

I can see why people can’t bear BJ.

But JC is just unthinkable as PM, esp if fucking Brexit flushes us all down the toilet. Imagine him trying to negotiate deals, whilst he tries to hard to be the eternal rebel.

I wanted to vote Lib Dem, but I can’t see JS as credible either.

What a massive fuck-up Sad

yolofish · 19/11/2019 21:09

how can you think JC looked scruffy everderose when compared with BJ?! you'd think someone at no.10 would have sent him to the barbers, made sure his shirt was ironed etc - I guess no Eton fags available.

And as for "the institution of the monarchy is above reproach", well I guess you need to say that after you've lied directly to HMQ.

You had already avoided it so the empty virtue signal wasn't really needed.

As for OP:
I don't know what's happened to ordinary people. They've fell for something that will make their lives worse, sold to them by an elite that has shafted them.

If they was just as intelligent as you, then maybe we wouldn't be in this mess right?

Maybe if you was as intelligent as you try to make out you could see the nuance in the situation and not try and subtlety play partisan lines under the guise of being angry, has your 5yr old come in and cried about Conservatives probably winning the next election?

I will give it a 2 out of 10 on the concern troll factor

I remember the first leaders’ debate, I think it was in 2010. The contenders were Brown, Cameron & Clegg, none of whom were ideal PM material but next to Johnson & Corbyn they look like Churchill, Attlee and Lloyd George....

Report
churchandstate · 19/11/2019 21:11

Corbyn’s looks aren’t the issue. He answered the questions (Brexit stance aside - more nuanced because his stance is ostensibly more impartial) and Boris just threw mud.

Report
dadshere · 19/11/2019 21:11

Anyone who watches the debate and thinks Bozo was doing better needs a brain transplant. Bozo failed to answer any questions at all, he just kept going on about brexit like a one trick pony. The billionaires controlling the media want you to believe that Brexit is the only issue on the table worth talking about. It ain't even close. Education, Hospitals, Doctors, Nurses, Police, the state of our roads and railways, rampant tax avoidance by the very rich.

Report
Bluntness100 · 19/11/2019 21:12

I also though Corbyn looked a bit disheveled, he's very thin, his suit was too big, his glasses were wonky and he really looks his age, a man in his seventies, out of his depth.

Report
greenlavender · 19/11/2019 21:14

Johnson can talk alright, but he is completely and utterly untrustworthy. Not a word he says carries an ounce of credence. Even before Brexit he wrote & published a for & against essay, such is his breathtaking hubris.

Report
EverdeRose · 19/11/2019 21:14

I didn't think he looked scruffy. Both looked like little boys wearing too long ties. JCs glasses weren't on straight but BJ looked like his mum had attacked him with a slightly damp comb just before he went on. BJ looked more unkempt

But you know that no matter what BJ looks like, the story is in the daily mail will be, always scruffy JC looking frazzled by Boris.

Report
dadshere · 19/11/2019 21:14

To those saying Corbyn's stance on Brexit is unclear, you are either lying or stupid. It couldn't be clearer. Ask the public what they want and then implement it, it is called democracy. How is that hard to understand? seriously? My dd understands it and she is in 2nd grade.

crispysausagerolls · 19/11/2019 21:16

bluntness

I agree with you re how JC looks. I know this is wrong but I do see BJ and think he just looks more robust. Less weedy, less scrawny and scraggly and haggard. Inspires slightly more confidence, even if his jacket is also undone and hair flopping around the shop.

churchandstate

JC also wouldn’t provide a yes or no answer on whether or not Brexit was more important than the union
