To shave down there for my partners sake

Loneranger14 · 18/11/2019 23:18

I used to always fully shave down there but now been mid 30s and 4 DC later I go all natural, my OH told me last night to shave downstairs I carnt even go to the toilet without having 1 of my DC clinging to my leg never mind a bit of me time, he said he doesn't like it and wants me to shave but to be honest I really don't care and haven't got time and it doesn't bother me. So I guess my question is aibu to not give in to his request

We shave under arms/legs due to social pressures.

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 19/11/2019 19:28

I have a full on bush for the last few years. I originally grew it so my ex didn't keep pestering me to let him perform oral on me which I can't stand (makes me feel physically sick) in the 10 years we were together he never stopped pestering me about it until I stopped shaving that is.

LimeRedBanana · 19/11/2019 19:35

Why do we have underarm hair?, most all women get rid i of it without a moments hesitation.

Because it's not socially acceptable for women to have underarm hair.

Any woman sporting it would pretty much be a figure of fun. Same with hairy legs. No thanks.

canveyisland · 19/11/2019 19:37

Porn. Poor you.

MarianneSolong · 19/11/2019 19:45

Perhaps I am just very tired and old.

But I can't help thinking - is it worth it? If sex for either or both parties involves not just keeping vaguely clean and taking care of oneself and - for example avoiding becoming morbidly obese - but a kind of elaborate regular routine of plucking and trimming and shaving... It just seems a great deal of faff and a lot for people to demand of one another.

I tend to fancy people because they make me laugh and are kind and caring - not because of their depilation routine.

The idea that desire might depend on my trimming pubes into some kind of Bermuda triangle of 'womanliness' makes me feel as if I'd rather catch up with a good book. Far simpler.

Velveteenfruitbowl · 19/11/2019 19:47

Everyone removing hair for hygiene reasons you really need to shower more often. It doesn’t matter whether you have pubic hair or not you need to wash often to stay clean. Envy

PepsiLola · 19/11/2019 19:56

Pubic hair doesn't make sex rubbish, make you unhygienic or ugly.

Bald does not make you look like a child, have better orgasms or a fanny that smells like roses.

Do whatever you want. If you're gonna shave, remember in a week or so you're going to have that itchy regrowth stage. If you're struggling for time this might be a con.

Like you I used to shave, but now I don't get privacy from my kids enough to maintain it. So I don't! I would never shave to follow instructions from my partner, I do it when I want

spanglydangly · 19/11/2019 20:04

I'm amazed at the amount of women that have to use the phrase "down there", ffs it's pubic hair!

Baldcrusader · 19/11/2019 20:27

If a guy is concentrating on the garden whilst meandering down south he's clearly missing the point somewhat. Missing all that heavenly glory to paraphrase Bruce Lee. Women's bits, women's rules.

It's not just for sex though, I find it shows through some clothes... and I don't like that.

Wear something thicker than chiffon. HTH.

Bluerussian · 19/11/2019 23:52

Flipping cheek of the man!

The bare pubes is a fashion. Prior to that people only trimmed and shaves at the sides so as not to have hairy bits showing in bathing costumes. No one complained. I used to get a bit of razor rash around the side so dread to think what I'd have if I shaved the lot off.

There are men (I only know this from seeing something on TV a while ago) who say, "Bring back the bush!". As a woman I echo that sentiment.

Grown up people have pubic hair. End of.

TheSandman · 20/11/2019 00:01

I am one! I find it astoundingly odd that (so many) women seem to think that they need to look like plastic dolls. I hate it when my wife shaves 'down there' - or anywhere else for that matter. We're mammals! We're supposed to be hairy.

Just to clarify - I'm not fetishistic about this. I don't perv over hairy women. I just find shaved bodies unnatural. It's weird and off-putting.

(And don't get me started on breast implants, Botox and all that other self mutilation that passes for 'beauty treatment' these days.)

Thanks. I'll look out my tweeds.

LimeRedBanana · 20/11/2019 01:11

But seriously - what are you wearing that pubic hair would show through?

And how is a naked pubic area showing through preferable? Confused

HeadLikeAFuckinOrange · 20/11/2019 01:21

Jesus. The comments on here that if you shave you look like a young girl are nothing short of sick.

Yeah, "your body, your choice" is a load of shit for some posters on here. It's your choice...unless you shave, because then you're pandering to porn standards, and your DH is a pervert".

Bluerussian · 20/11/2019 01:43

There is definitely a porn connection with men wanting a shaved woman. I've already said how I feel about it and what I did but my husband never said anything about it (except once when we were young and he suggested shaving the edges to make it heart shaped :-). I never did and he didn't complain, ever). Husband was hairy, even down his back, and it has become common for men to have hair removed too. It's unnatural imo.

However I don't criticise anyone who goes hairless if that is what they want to do and many do. I don't like hairy legs and armpits, some would criticise me for that but it is my choice, nothing to do with a man. I just like being smooth. Now I'm nearly 70 I grow less body hair :-). Thankfully my head is still full of thick, wavy hair (but that may not last forever...God forbid).

PhoneLock · 20/11/2019 08:23

But seriously - what are you wearing that pubic hair would show through?

Nothing weird, just normal summer weight maxi dresses usually. It's sometimes an issue with other dresses. It depends on the cut, and the fabric to a certain extent.

And how is a naked pubic area showing through preferable? confused

Huh? It's just smooth fabric. Nothing shows through. That's the whole point!

MorganKitten · 20/11/2019 10:53

If you’re keen on the idea of infected spots, ingrown hairs and itchy regrowth, plus the time consuming hassle of repeatedly shaving, then yeah, go for it!

I get waxed and never have those issues, aftercare is a thing...

Justgorgeous · 20/11/2019 10:57

The only time i could imagine pubic hair showing through is if you were wearing white swim wear !

prawnsword · 20/11/2019 10:58

Oral feels better with your lips shaved

FYI

I shaved and i never had any trouble with this. Im rubbish at aftercare too. A bit of conditioner instead of shaving foam and a sharp razor. i can shave whilst i leave conditioner in my hair, 3 mins max for maintenance 3-5 if im going from hairy.

Emeraldshamrock · 20/11/2019 11:05

You dont shave your labia minora, majora. Do you? I didn't think lips got hairy? Mine don't Blush

Aridane · 20/11/2019 11:07

YABU - you used to and that's what he is used to and I guess your bushy state doesn't do,it for him. I would feel the same of my clean shave partner could no longer be bothered to shave

Pinkblueberry · 20/11/2019 11:09

YANBU. But I have to say, I prefer my DH to be trimmed down there too, if he started going very ‘natural’ I would probably give it a mention too. Works both ways I suppose...
