To shave down there for my partners sake

Loneranger14 · 18/11/2019 23:18

I used to always fully shave down there but now been mid 30s and 4 DC later I go all natural, my OH told me last night to shave downstairs I carnt even go to the toilet without having 1 of my DC clinging to my leg never mind a bit of me time, he said he doesn't like it and wants me to shave but to be honest I really don't care and haven't got time and it doesn't bother me. So I guess my question is aibu to not give in to his request

Adult women have public hair

Only on their heads, usually.

JinglingHellsBells · 19/11/2019 13:02

It is my experience that with shaved areas there is less chance of a pissy taste getting into the mouth during oral sex. Even a good old wipe and splash will often not remove the last traces of piss from your pubic hair and as such oral sex can become a slightly different experience.

@WestSideSnorey Well bully for you (literally) that you asked your partners to shave. More fool them for obliging and being told what to do with their bodies.

Maybe a less drastic move would have been a shower or a bath beforehand? Which is what most considerate people do before oral sex. (I'd have thought...)Or a clothes peg on your nose perhaps?

In all honesty, @WestSideSnorey if you are so delicate that you don't like normal bodily smells ( and come on, women don't smell of piss - it doesn't make their pubes smell as you like to think) I'm surprised you like sex at all!

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 19/11/2019 13:02

It's not about shaming women who choose to shave

no. you are mid 30's, not a prepubescent school girl!!

why he wants you to look like a prepubescent girl.
15 posts below the first statement...

I could have gone up as well....

He gives you a half-day off every week without being responsible for the kids (so you've time to shave etc.)

I thought i had pretty long pubic hair, how long must it be if its taking half a day.... takes three mins max for maintenance. 5-10 if im going from long. If you dont know then don't comment about what you dont know.

I dont want to is a damn good argument for not shaving. You need to look after the kids so i will shave for you is a really poor argument for not shaving and reeks of misogyny.

So if my personal experience is that i do do find hair a bit of a pain and feel cleaner im meant to ignore that and not share because im perpetuating a myth right?....

So my experience isnt real cos its just a myth.... isnt that gaslighting?

Just a thought is not insisting women who shave look like prepubescent girls also perpetuating myths.... i definitely dont look anything like a prepubescent girl whether im wearing hair or not. I find it hard to imagine anyone really does...

Maybe a less drastic move would have been a shower or a bath beforehand? you could always shave together in the bath or shower... one doesnt preclude the other. Shower doesnt help pubic hair getting in the way physically though.

Your pussy, your choice

Best answer yet. 5 pages and 4 words nails it!!GrinGrin

I'm surprised you like sex at all!

Wow id missed that...

Likethebattle · 19/11/2019 13:39

I removed it once, got a Hollywood was for going on holiday (I usually get a bikini wax). I have scarily thick pelt there, needs proper hedge trimmers!

I hated it, DH wasn’t a fan either. I keep it trimmed and tidy but never remove the hair.

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 19/11/2019 13:41

myth is that pubic hair is unclean and disgusting

And yet you have (admittedly supposed) women confirming thats their experience. Of men as much as women....

Actually theres not societal pressure on me at all at the moment. Theres no man in my life and no prospective man. As i mentioned before, the only societal pressure im currently feeling is that i ought to have a bush in order that im not being hypocritical trying to discuss of consent pornification of society etc with DD13....

While its itchy and annoying. It catches on stuff and feels sweaty...

Lets not kid ourselves, there's significant pressure to keep the bush that article link "prepubescent girls" "Im surprised you like sex at all". I don't find that pressure any more respectful to woman.

Anyone noticed op has not yet returned?

LentilHearted · 19/11/2019 13:52

It's not his decision what you do with your own body. Why do men like shaved vulvas? Porn! Vulvas looking as close to children's vulvas as possible is the norm in porn. Weird isn't it? YABU to shave your vulva to please a man, YANBU to not bother pandering to men's porn conditioning.

It catches on stuff

So who has had to call the emergency services because their pubes have got trapped and they can't extricate themselves...?

HmmBiscuit hyperbole much....

Loopytiles · 19/11/2019 14:38

There was a fun item on pubes and cycling on Womens Hour a while back - a dermatologist was arguing that removing hair, by any method, damages the skin and that if you’re doing other things that can also damage skin eg riding, cycling, it’s inadvisable.

The item followed (sexist IMO) media speculation about women cyclists and pubes.

Havaina · 19/11/2019 14:57

I imagine pubes provide padding when cycling.

There was coverage Of it with the Olympic women’s cycling team

Can people stop likening shaved pubic hair to having the body of a child. Women who choose to shave do not look like children, they look like women who've removed thier pubic hair FFS. Stop judging women who choose to do this, it makes you as bad as the men who tell their partners to shave.

Havaina · 19/11/2019 15:21

I do agree with that thurman I keep hair free for hygiene reasons not for male approval.

I especially prefer being hair free when I have my period as I used pads.

stucknoue · 19/11/2019 15:24

It's personal preference, I prefer to wax every 8 weeks or so, shaving makes me itch but I find it's a bit cleaner and better for swimming, sometimes I just bikini wax, sometimes all off, depending on how I feel. No man gets to choose.

I've passed on several men recently because (before they got anywhere near my house) they started implying they liked a hairless woman! The delights of modern dating

Whilst he can say he prefers you shaved, I dont understand he saying you have to.
Whats he going to do if you don't? Also what is he going to do if you do?
It seems such a random comment I just cant understand how the conversation flowed.
