I honestly don't understand why anyone who cares about anyone other than themselves would vote Tory.

@crispysausagerolls I honestly dont understand why thinking that public services should be funded sufficiently is viewed as "far left" Hmm

Kanal : All the labour voters I know are like us, in higher income households. We're voting labour because we want more resources going to families who aren't as lucky as we are. I would happily pay more taxes if it led to an end of the need for food banks. I believe that every adult should hang their head in shame while there are children going hungry in this country.

Yes, me too. Bringing everyone along for the ride improves the ride for everybody. As the Scandinavians have demonstrated.

As for 'doctors and nurses voting Tory', well, I work in one of the leafiest, most expensive cathedral cities an hour's train ride from London. Many of the consultants I know openly say that their 'natural constituency', being white, privileged males- would be Tory.

But so many can't bring themselves to do so this time.

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 18:03

@steff13 I think its really very important to try and understand those I don't agree with! Especially when their opinions are likely to affect the society we live in 🤷‍♀️

and ops like this explain why labour is behind in the polls - the same as last election, nonsense about all tory voters or prospective tory voters being murderers/evil/selfish etc. I wish labour had a better team in charge.

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 18:04

@missyB1 realistically I think a vote for the lib dems will put the tories back in. I agree with you about brexit though.

@DappledThings well your mum sounds like a nice person.

Terrorist sympathiser and anti semitic?
That's what the conservatives and DM say about Corbyn, and too many believe it.
I look at the work he has done in the past and still involved with now, I'm not a huge fan but when I've voted it's always been labour.

What has he allegedly done or said?

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 18:06

@MrsMaiselsMuff completely agree re: tactical voting.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/11/2019 18:06

The Tories will never be voted out

"Never" is a long time - quite simply they'll be voted out when sufficient people feel there's a better alternative

And if they do get a majority and it leads to some soul searching among Labour and the ejection of Corbyn, McDonnell et al, some might think that a greater service than any the Tories have given us so far

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 18:07

@jellybeans44 yup! 🙈

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 18:09

Yes @BlueMoonRising but voting for other parties could just mean we end up with more years of selfish Tories destroying our society 🤷‍♀️

Isn’t it shocking that we live in a democracy and so different people can vote for whichever candidate they want ?

I’m really struggling with the idea of someone so narrow that despite being a citizen of this great democracy they have never met an ordinary person with different political views from their own.

Somewhere between a quarter and a half of the population vote for each of the big parties in each election. It’s that simple !!

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 18:13

@PBo83 well i suppose that depends on what you think is best for you and yours hey?

If you think a world with no NHS, underfunded schools, underfunded police, no youth services, no rape crisis centres, no tolerance, no caring....is best for you and yours, then I think you're wrong and an asshole 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
zafferana · 15/11/2019 18:13

So those of you voting Tory dont use schools, parks, the NHS / Emergency services at all then?

Yawn. Don't you have anything better to do on a Friday night than lecture people about their voting choices?

And why is always the lefties haranguing everyone? I can't imagine voters of any other party doing this.

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 18:14

Totally agree with you @PissedOffProf

Alsohuman · 15/11/2019 18:17

I can't understand why anyone who cares about everybody would not vote for the Tories, the least bad of the bunch.

Look at their record for the last nine years and try to say that with a straight face.

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 18:19

@zafferana well that was a useful contribution.

Because. It's. Important. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

@Puzzledandpissedoff lets hope so! 🤞🤞🤞

OP posts:
zafferana · 15/11/2019 18:22

It's important to YOU. But telling people to vote Labour is ludicrous. I'd rather disenfranchise myself than vote for that bunch of loonies.

Deathgrip · 15/11/2019 18:23

You can find just as many links and studies proving how ridiculously bad labour is and would be for the country. Feel free to have a google.

People catastrophising and propagandising about how bad labour would be for the country is entirely different from reporting the harm that already been done, is being done and will continue to be done under another Tory term. But I guess that’s one way of sticking your fingers in your ears and pretending it’s not happening.

It would be hilarious if they were not a genuine threat.

A genuine threat? Please point me in the direction of this genuine threat, given that people are literally dying in their tens (possibly hundreds) of thousands because of this government’s policies, and that the likely effect of a Tory Brexit would be the loss of workers rights, the NHS, not to mention the catastrophic impact on the economy.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 15/11/2019 18:24

I believe that every adult should hang their head in shame while there are children going hungry in this country

That’s not down to who is in power though but the choices made by the parents of the children. Surely we should be advocating personal responsibility rather than tax payers picking up the cost.

I fully believing a tax system to fund the NHS, education, public services and would rather we improved them than have labour in power going back to the likes of tax credits etc.

Deathgrip · 15/11/2019 18:25

Yet another thread where people regurgitate tabloid / Tory party soundbytes about Labour without any understanding of what they’re saying, and with no effort to quantify it.

Anotherlongdrive · 15/11/2019 18:25

It's quite funny that people keep saying that that Tories are solely to blame for the this shit show.

Pretty sure the shit started with labour.

ilovetofu · 15/11/2019 18:27

@LinnetBird
I don't think he is a terrorist sympathiser or an anti Semite.

That said he's not responded to complaints of anti semetism adequately.

There's also a confusion of pro Palestine / anti semitism - the two are not the same.

Boris has made SO many out and out racist comments its getting ridiculous! And Rees-Mogg blaming the victims of Grenfell for their own deaths because they didn't ignore instructions to stay put is just beyond belief. These people don't care who they hurt. They are just vile.
