I honestly don't understand why anyone who cares about anyone other than themselves would vote Tory.

This is interesting, the right wing press take on the introduction of the NHS:

The state medical service is part of the socialist plot to convert Great Britain into a National Socialist economy. The doctors’ stand is the first effective revolt of the professional classes against socialist tyranny. There is nothing that Bevan or any other socialist can do about it in the shape of Hitlerian coercion.

My former MP was John Major, he was a brilliant constituency MP, I look back on him and realise just how much integrity he had.

I presume what you mean by this is that he's a europhile.

Alsohuman · 18/11/2019 18:56

No, I don’t mean that at all. At the time he was Foreign Secretary I had a problem with child benefit, it went on for weeks and weeks. Within three weeks of writing to Major it was sorted. He was greatly loved here which is why he had the biggest Tory majority in the country - which his successor has progressively decreased.

I’d never vote Tory but I do recognise a decent man when I see one.

ReanimatedSGB · 18/11/2019 19:31

I also think John Major was a basically decent man even if I didn't agree with everything he and his government did. It's worth noting that both he and Kenneth Clarke have condemned the current shower of shite.

All those whining about the 'hard left' - you either haven't noticed how far to the right the Tories have moved, or you don't think it's a problem because, waaa, immigration; waa, benefit cheats: stamp on the poor and vulnerable because their troubles are their own fault.

CendrillonSings · 18/11/2019 19:37

Did someone mention the hard left? ‘Cos Corbyn’s getting a lot of love from them:

morningstaronline.co.uk/article/c/communists-reaffirms-commitment-work-election-left-led-labour-government

Communists will work for election of left-led Labour government

THE Communist Party reaffirms its commitment of September 23 to work for the election of a left-led Labour government in the forthcoming general election.

Oh dear!

Deathgrip · 18/11/2019 19:42

Well obviously. Do you think people who are actually far left are clamouring for another tory term?

What do you think you’ve demonstrated with that post?

Graphista · 18/11/2019 19:54

I've yet to see even ONE argument with supporting evidence of how the tories have done the country good over the last 9/10 years that hasn't been soundly debunked by fact.

The majority of posts from the most stringently pro Tory are little more than name calling, no debate, no argument offered.

Many many links to the damage they've done though, and sensible compassionate ideas on how the Labour Party propose to improve things.

If those of you who think Tory is better want to convince floating voters of their validity you need to do better than "labour sucks so there!"

Sakura7 · 18/11/2019 19:59

Clearly to some on here, communists = bad, far right fascists = good.

Obviously neither is good and we should be worried about the rise of extremism in politics, but it has been far more pronounced on the right (Trump, Brexit, Putin, Orban, Bolsonaro, Salvini et al) than on the left.

IndieTara · 18/11/2019 20:28

Ever increasing amounts to think about before Dec 12

CendrillonSings · 18/11/2019 20:36

What do you think you’ve demonstrated with that post?

That far-left extremists nostalgic for the Soviet Union support Corbyn. I’d have thought that was pretty clear Smile

Deathgrip · 18/11/2019 20:54

Congratulations. You have categorically proven that people on the far left want to support the party that’s left wing rather than right wing.

Somebody call Nobel, this is indeed a historic revelation.

Up next: EDL members mostly vote Brexit Party. Fascinating stuff.

CendrillonSings · 18/11/2019 21:04

I’m just wondering what makes literal communists so excited by Corbyn and his agenda that they want to campaign for him, that’s all.

Alsohuman · 18/11/2019 21:13

Maybe you should go and ask them. You’re not going to find any answers here.

Deathgrip · 18/11/2019 21:42

You weren’t wondering anything - you thought that was somehow a giant egg in labour’s face, when in reality it’s not surprising to anyone at all.

Again, “far left people support left wing party to lead country” doesn’t really require questions - it’s self-explanatory. Of course they want a left wing party to defeat the right wing government, and the only viable option for that is Labour.

Deathgrip · 18/11/2019 21:46

Hold on one second... does this mean Boris Johnson is actually an EDL member? I mean, it must do, surely?

It's bloody Orwellian!
