I mean I've seen worse pictures but still.
Gross.

I've had a cold and sore throat but now I have this red swollen infected looking thing.

It's not part of my tonsils and it's definitely not a tonsil stone.

It hurts. But I've never had that in my life?! What even is that part of your throat called?!

Is that an ulcer? Mine always start with a white cap on them.

picklemepopcorn · 06/11/2019 18:40

Is it a tonsil stone?

adaline · 06/11/2019 18:42

Tonsil stones.

Lifeisabeach09 · 06/11/2019 18:42

Tonsillitis?? Could be pus-filled.

PullingMySocksUp · 06/11/2019 18:43

That cream coloured thing on the right? Looks like a tonsil stone.

iMatter · 06/11/2019 18:43

Looks like a tonsil stone. I tried to get rid of mine the "MN way" (I think it was using an orange stick or a cotton bud) but my gag reflex is so strong I puked everywhere 🙄

ReverseGiraffe · 06/11/2019 18:44

Tbh I know you said it's not but it looks like a tonsil stone to me. But could be some sort of infection. You can get white spots in your throat from tonsillitis and that sort of thing. I'd see the nurse practitioner for that if it was me.

waltzingparrot · 06/11/2019 18:45

Looks like tonsillitis to me.

MrsToothyBitch · 06/11/2019 18:45

Bacterial tonsillitis? It starts with green crap on your tonsils.

Blippolbblopp · 06/11/2019 18:46

I know youve said its not but it really looks like a tonsil stone and looks like theres a smaller one on the other side

Gargle some mouthwash or salt water

Blippolbblopp · 06/11/2019 18:46

Sorry posted too soon

Garlgle to see if it shifts them, if it is tonsil stones their that close to the surface it shouldnt be hard to get them out

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 06/11/2019 18:48

It does look like tonsillitis - you would need antibiotics for that - but would suggest seeing your GP as could be quinsy.

Whatsername7 · 06/11/2019 18:48

Definitely a tonsil stone. My dd gets them. Gargle with salt water to losen then attempt to remove with a clean cotton bud. If you gag, the flexing of your throat wi probably dislodge it.

SleepyKat · 06/11/2019 18:51

Do you mean the thing in the top middle? Because that’s normal, your uvula.

Outsomnia · 06/11/2019 18:54

If concerned go to a doctor.

Mumsnet can tell you anything you want to hear or not. Honestly.

EwwwwGrossWTF · 06/11/2019 19:02

It's not a tonsil stone because it's not my tonsil.
And what I got it out (convinced it was a tonsil stone) it was green infection. 🤢

Mumsnet can tell you anything you want to hear or not.

I mean, I just wanted experience and to find out what part of the throat that was.

I wasn't asking for a MN ct scan and full diagnoses. 😁

cacklingmags · 06/11/2019 19:08

Hi OP, if this is a infection it is possible it is a Quinsey: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peritonsillar_abscess
You can get some pus out but there may be more there. My partner had one and was sent to hospital to drain it.

BatEaredFox · 06/11/2019 19:08

I can just see your uvula...

WelshMoth · 06/11/2019 19:09

Sore throat?

Look again tomorrow. If the patch is bigger, I'd bet it was bacterial tonsillitis.

Antibiotics will be needed to blitz that!

adaline · 06/11/2019 19:10

The red dangly bit is your uvula. It's normal.

RightEarlobeBreath · 06/11/2019 19:10

Could just be mucus build up at the back of your throat. When I get very bad tonsillitis the whole back bit gets red with green splodges everywhere and the doctor I saw (because I was convinced I had an abscess) said it was just extra mucus in the tissues at the back of my throat etc.

EwwwwGrossWTF · 06/11/2019 19:11

That bit

RightEarLobe that makes sense.
Do you find it happens under the skin? To the point of bursting?
