I mean I've seen worse pictures but still.
Gross.

I've had a cold and sore throat but now I have this red swollen infected looking thing.

It's not part of my tonsils and it's definitely not a tonsil stone.

It hurts. But I've never had that in my life?! What even is that part of your throat called?!

GP here.

  1. Whether you believe it or not, it’s a tonsil stone
  2. It is absolutely not a quinsy
  3. You do not need antibiotics
Namechanger001 · 06/11/2019 20:49

That’s not on the tonsil. Tonsils are further forward than that. It just looks like an ulcer to me.

EwwwwGrossWTF · 06/11/2019 20:53

@PlonkyPlink I didn't think it was quinsy or needed AB's.

It didn't appear at all like tonsil stone though. Green pus and not the nasty smelling white solid stuff that comes out.

DrPlonk I've seen God knows why a YouTube vid of someone popping out a tonsil stone with a cotton bud. Is that healthy??!

EwwwwGrossWTF · 06/11/2019 20:55

I love the "GP here" my ears instantly pricked up.

I wonder if I can use that in future or a variation.

"Astronaut here. Youre all wrong." 😁😁😁😁😁

Doingitaloneandproud · 06/11/2019 20:59

Not sure what it is, it looks like the tonsil stone I had to get out this morning but mine was solid and yours was green so maybe get the doctor to have a look if it hasn't gone? Just in case of antibiotics, hope it goes soon though!

Sorry I'm no use, I just was like what a coincidence, first time I've ever read about tonsil stones this morning when I wondered what the hell mine was and now I see this thread about tonsils Grin

Hollyhobbi · 06/11/2019 21:00

It looks like a mouth ulcer to me. I used to get them a lot when I was younger. Have one now just at my lip. They hurt like hell☹️

PlonkyPlink · 06/11/2019 21:01

@EwwwwGrossWTF I wish I had the power to get my kids ear to prick up Wink

PlonkyPlink · 06/11/2019 21:02

@ WelshMoth I wouldn’t recommend it but would probably do the trick!

ClapHandsAndSaveTheFairies · 06/11/2019 21:07

@iMatter but did it come out Grin

LittleMsM · 06/11/2019 21:10

If you don't have a temperature, it's unlikely to be bacterial tonsilitus. If it gets increasingly difficult to swallow - and your ulvula (dangly bit) bends to one side - quinsy could be a possibility. But other than that - don't know.... Does it hurt?

commanderdalgliesh · 06/11/2019 21:13

How on earth are people taking pictures of your tonsils!

Loaf90 · 06/11/2019 21:18

Tonsil stone

ZandathePanda · 06/11/2019 21:21

These are really good to have a closer look. Haven’t used it to pop out a tonsil stone and if you are getting ooze out I probably wouldn’t poke. They do have a really good light so you can investigate though.

BendyLikeBeckham · 06/11/2019 21:22

is anyone else taking photos of their throats or examining them in a mirror? Grin

Or just me? Blush

Justaboy · 06/11/2019 21:30

That does look exactly like a tonsil stone. I get them and they don't half stink:(

However it may well be possible that there is something else there in ADDITION to the simple Tonsil stone.

Why not just see your GP?.

worriedmumtoteen · 06/11/2019 21:34

I feel ill after all these close-up photos of tonsils.

Grin at everyone who has said ‘it’s just your uvula’

Hope you feel better soon, op.

EwwwwGrossWTF · 06/11/2019 21:40

Yeah it does hurt. I've had a sore throat and cold for a few days and now I'm losing my voice.

It's not a tonsil stone.

SusieOwl4 · 06/11/2019 21:48

could be quinsey feels like you are swallowing a golf ball

hallohallohallo · 06/11/2019 21:50

Is that area the posterior faucial pillar?

Could be herpangina? Do you have any other symptons OP?

fernandoanddenise · 06/11/2019 21:53

Hand foot and mouth?
If you’ve also got diarrhoea could be herpangina. I’ve had that and it was so deeply minging. Crater like mouth ulcers and horrific poo trouble.

Whataliberty · 06/11/2019 21:57

Bless you, that looks very sore. Get one of those throat numbing sprays and see your doctor. Looks like a throat infection to me. Not a GP - but had enough similar things to know!

ThankYouStavros · 06/11/2019 22:00

It's a tonsil stone. Really easy to get out but it will stink of death. I get them all the time.

picklemepopcorn · 07/11/2019 13:24

OP, do you think it's a tonsil Stone? Wink

Lifeisabeach09 · 07/11/2019 22:01

I just had to google tonsil stone removal on YouTube. Haha. Oh my. Not for the faint hearted.

Not saying it was tonsil stones, OP. Was just curious.
