I mean I've seen worse pictures but still.
Gross.

I've had a cold and sore throat but now I have this red swollen infected looking thing.

It's not part of my tonsils and it's definitely not a tonsil stone.

It hurts. But I've never had that in my life?! What even is that part of your throat called?!

I have EXACTLY the same (I had to check hadn't name changed & posted this after wine)! I've had it since having larangytis in August. Had antibiotics, x Ray & ent camera down throat (I've lost upper register in voice too - they weren't just investigating the spot!) I asked ent consultant about it & he said was just a 'mucus sac' and not to worry - but it's still there & throat sore in & off (and upper register still gone). None the wiser but following this with interest to see if anyone else knows!!

Willyoujustbequiet · 06/11/2019 19:14

Which bit? The dangly thing in the middle is normal.
The white bit on the right is either a stone or tonsilitis

Doletmeknow · 06/11/2019 19:14

If it was a quinsy, you’d know about it, you’d be in agony

GriseldaChop · 06/11/2019 19:15

Is it a retention cyst? I have a white lump in back of my throat too, was referred to a specialist who lanced it, was funky, like yours, but it just came back. Was told it's a retention cyst and nothing to worry about.

GreenyEye · 06/11/2019 19:16

do you mean the pussy little bump on the back right hand side?

It will be a throat infection of sorts, (And i'm including tonsillitis in that) go see your gp!

wannabebetter · 06/11/2019 19:17

See - snap!!!

CAG12 · 06/11/2019 19:18

It isnt quinsy. Those swell up and can occulde the airway. Thats how big they get.

If you're concerned go to a urgent care centre or make an appointment with your GP.

Im not sure its anything to be concerned about.

wannabebetter · 06/11/2019 19:19

Can't possibly be tonsillitis for 3 months could it? I'd try & pop but bad gag reflex!!

GreenyEye · 06/11/2019 19:21

i've had my tonsils removed, when I get a sore throat now, I get little lumps like that on the tissue between mouth and throat.. there is still a 'ridge' even when the tonsils are gone), usually diagnosed as a throat infection.. more often then not i'm told to go away for a week, then if its persisting, go back.

MorganKitten · 06/11/2019 19:22

That looks like a tonsil stone, has them years. But recently I thought I had one but was the start of tonsillitis.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 06/11/2019 19:25

Looks like tonsillitis. After I caught chicken pox from my kids many years ago I had repeated tonsillitis for a few years - it always started like this coupled with a sore throat.
Try gargling with salt water and take painkillers for the pain. (My OH worked in the Sydney Opera House scenebuilding many years ago and met Pavarotti who swore by the salt water gargle if he was getting a sore throat and had a performance).

EwwwwGrossWTF · 06/11/2019 19:25

ITS NOT MY TONSIL!!! 😂😂😂😂😂

Thanks for your posts though, I've had a cold I think it's a mucus sack as others have suggested. Grossn

Is it not just your uvula?

I can't see anything particularly worrying about that photo.

Bit of a raw throat, is all.

Mothership4two · 06/11/2019 19:26

Throat ulcer? Need to see gp

KylieMinow · 06/11/2019 19:27

That's exactly where your tonsils are. An dits a tonsil stone.

I get them.
In exactly the same place.

I push them out with cotton buds.

managedmis · 06/11/2019 19:27

The spot thing?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/11/2019 19:27

No way is that tonsillitis!

Not nearly red and swollen enough.

adaline · 06/11/2019 19:28

No need for the Hmm face, your original question wasn't exactly very clear!

WhoKnewBeefStew · 06/11/2019 19:30

Looks like an ulcer. I get them when I get tonsillitis. I get a cotton bud, cover it with bongela and dab the ulcer. Hurts like a mother fucker at the time but feels loads better afterwards

MissRabbitNeedsAHoliday · 06/11/2019 19:30

I know you've said (multiple times) it's not your tonsil 😂 but I do get those when I have tonsillitis. You would probably know if it was that thought it's very painful.

Considermesometimes · 06/11/2019 19:31

Go and see the doctor, your throat looks like mine did a few years ago when I had a throat infection. Mine spread quickly and made me quite ill. Check your temperature, and see the doctor. You may need antibiotics.

ALemonyPea · 06/11/2019 19:32

A rogue tooth Wink

EwwwwGrossWTF · 06/11/2019 19:33

That's exactly where your tonsils are.

It's really isn't. Perhaps my picture isn't clear enough.

I do understand that it could be a 'tonsils stone' that is away from my actual tonsil. But when it burst it was infection type that came out.

CTRL · 06/11/2019 19:33

It’s a tonsil stone. If you use cotton buds you can maybe squeeze it out - there’s loads of videos on YouTube.

I dare you to sniff it though Shock the smell will knock you out

RightEarlobeBreath · 06/11/2019 19:35

Yeah, the doctor I saw said it was mucus trapped under the top layer of tissue or something. It looks like it would pop but it won’t so don’t poke it!
