What time does your alarm go off, and do you ping out of bed straightaway?

I have a new medication to take at least an hour before coffee or tea, so was feeling annoyed I'll have to set my alarm for about half an hour before I plan on getting up - but then realised I never get up with the first alarm anyway Grin so I just need to tweak my way a bit.

I have a few set over the course of 20 mins or half an hour to ease myself into the morning. Am shit at getting up really.

How do you do the morning wake up? Do you need time to acclimatise or do you leap out of bed?

My alarm goes off at different times, depending on where I need to be that day, but I do* have to ping straight out of bed, otherwise I'd just go back to sleep. I am NOT a morning person, and set my alarm for as late as I can leave it, to give me enough time to be up and out.

Catonawall · 04/11/2019 22:17

6am and yes I do. I would feel so groggy if I kept getting woken up by numerous alarms then falling back to sleep again.

Daylight alarm has really helped as I usually wake up a few minutes before my alarm now so I don’t get the horrible alarm shock!

DameSylvieKrin · 04/11/2019 22:20

My alarm goes off at 7am and I get straight up. It’s not that I love getting up, it’s that sleep has no quality for me after the first alarm so I set it to the time I really have to get up. I will never understand people who use the snooze function and, I imagine, they will never understand those of us who don’t.

FlamingoAndJohn · 04/11/2019 22:20

6am.
I say ‘oh fuck’ and get straight up.
The cat hears the alarm and comes flying up stairs to shout her breakfast demands.

IrrationalIrational · 04/11/2019 22:21

No! I snooze for half an hour Grin

Gertie75 · 04/11/2019 22:22

In term time the alarm goes off at 7.30 and 7.32, I have to get up straight away or we're late on the school run.

I love sleeping and wouldn't dream of setting an alarm to disturb me earlier than I needed.

NotStayingIn · 04/11/2019 22:23

I always wake up before my alarm goes off and always at the same time. But the reason might be that I get up and go to bed at the same time 7 days a week. I think your internal clock gets used to it. So if you need to make a change you may also need to look at the time you go to bed and your weekend routine. The more streamlined everything is the easier it will get.

dementedpixie · 04/11/2019 22:23

I dont use an alarm. My body clock wakes me up (or my bladder!)

TokyoSushi · 04/11/2019 22:23

6:30am alarm and then snooze in 10 minute increments until 7am, I absolutely hate getting up, always have and I suspect always will 😴

FuriousFlannels · 04/11/2019 22:24

7am. Straight up and out with the dog for an hour. Perfect way to start the day.

makingmiracles · 04/11/2019 22:24

6.30am which is technically 30mins before I really need to get up, I like to have a cuppa and wake up before facing everyone else! I get straight up when alarm goes off, dp often snoozes his and either ends up running late or waking up in a panic that he’s overslept!

dalmatianmad · 04/11/2019 22:25

My alarm goes off at 4pm, I usually get straight up.
I do some tea, spend time with the kids and leave at 6pm for my 13 hour night shift 🙄

Itstheprinciple · 04/11/2019 22:25

6am and yes. But I do get back into bed to eat my breakfast and watch the news while everyone else uses the shower.

AmberAndAlexsMum · 04/11/2019 22:26

7am, I immediately sit up on the side of the bed, make myself have a happy thought, and then get into my morning routine.

For some reason, yesterday, my happy thought was Roses !! Not sure where that came from or why but if it makes me happy then so it is :)

Witchonastick · 04/11/2019 22:27

7am then a 10 min snooze. Have been known to doze on till 7.30/45, but that means panic stations!

gamerchick · 04/11/2019 22:28

Depends on the alarm. A loud siren had me backpeddling up the bed and into the corner, heart pounding. A little tinkle has me snoozing for 40 minutes.

LaurieFairyCake · 04/11/2019 22:28

I wake up naturally at about 6 ish. The second I'm awake my dog (whose arse is literally embedded in my back) is up and bouncing off the bed as she knows it's breakfast time.

If I'm slightly slow going down the stairs she prods me with her nose Hmm

Doormat247 · 04/11/2019 22:29

5am. I'm generally straight up as I can't risk falling back to sleep and missing my train or bus.
I sometimes snooze it for 10mins especially now I'm pregnant so sleeping badly. It's not worth having to rush around to catch up the time though.

Echobelly · 04/11/2019 22:30

Alarm is set for 6.48. I usually lie in bed for another 10 mins or so, but if need to wash my hair or buy milk or something I'll get straight up and shower.

Hassled · 04/11/2019 22:31

6am, which gives me 30 minutes to sit and do nothing before I actually need to be in the shower etc. I feed the cats, make coffee, look at bbc news, do a crossword - I love that 30 minutes.

AbsentmindedWoman · 04/11/2019 22:31

Most folks seem to favour getting up straightaway, with a few committed snoozers in addition to myself.

I say snooze but I cannot trust the actual snooze function, because I just kill the alarm altogether when half asleep, rather than pressing snooze. I have to set separate alarms (the night before) and doze between them.

wineisnecessary · 04/11/2019 22:33

6.35am and I occasionally snooze depending how tired I am but usually I need the loo .
My dh snoozes 3 times but the third time I kick him as it's early 5am.

BitOfFun · 04/11/2019 22:35

My mum says that she and my dad were always a bit freaked out by how instantly I would spring up ("like Dracula from his coffin"Grin) as a child when being woken for school. I still do it now- I'd a million times rather sleep properly and then get up when I need to, rather than do what my husband does, which is to set his alarm half an hour before he needs to and keep pressing the ten-minute snooze.

RiftGibbon · 04/11/2019 22:35

I've just changed the alarm time &sound. I was setting it for 7.15 ,snoozing for 15mins and then struggling to get up.
I now have a 7am alarm, but can get up as soon as it goes.

BumbleBeee69 · 04/11/2019 22:36

4am, and absolutely I am up immediately. I cannot ever risk sleeping through.
