What time does your alarm go off, and do you ping out of bed straightaway?

I have a new medication to take at least an hour before coffee or tea, so was feeling annoyed I'll have to set my alarm for about half an hour before I plan on getting up - but then realised I never get up with the first alarm anyway Grin so I just need to tweak my way a bit.

I have a few set over the course of 20 mins or half an hour to ease myself into the morning. Am shit at getting up really.

How do you do the morning wake up? Do you need time to acclimatise or do you leap out of bed?

5am, and if I'm not up by 5.04 I'm running late. Leave the house at 5.30 so everything is timed to the minute.
New job in the new year and won't need to leave the house until a more reasonable 7am so looking forward to that.

GooseFeather · 04/11/2019 22:45

I am a committed snoozer who hates mornings. However, DS has to be on a school bus from the next village 2 miles away at 7am, so alarm goes off at 6am and I get straight up and ready so he doesn't miss it. It is torture, and I live for the holidays and getting a lie in before getting up for work!

Kahlua4me · 04/11/2019 22:50

AmberAndAlexsMum that sounds like a great morning routine!

Getting straight up and having a happy thought would work for me so I am going to try it out. Really struck a chord this evening 😊. I used to be great at getting up as have always been a morning person until the menopause hit me like a steam train!

mindutopia · 04/11/2019 22:55

5:50am, yes, I’m up straight away. I have a co sleeping toddler and need to silently sneak out without waking him in the mornings (dh is there with him still). On mornings that I don’t set an alarm, it’s more like 6-6:30am. If I had a choice though, I wouldn’t mind an extra snooze or two.

bumblingbovine49 · 04/11/2019 23:06

I at the alarm for 6.30 and always set the snooze several times. I.never get up much before 7.am and sometimes around 7.30am. I even sometimes get up to go to the loo when the alarm goes off and then get back into bed !!!!

I need to leave by 7.45am so I am quite often late !!!Blush..

-Usually- Sometimes I cadge a lift off DH instead of walking the 50 mins to work to get my only some exercise in for the day.

I really really loathe mornings

Drogosnextwife · 04/11/2019 23:08

Alarm goes off every 15 mins from 6. I get up around 6.45/7 depending on what time I need to start work.

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 04/11/2019 23:14

I set my alarm for 7.30 but if I haven't slept well I often turn it off and sleep on til 9am.

BlueJava · 05/11/2019 00:05

On weekdays my arm goes off at 6.30am
I turn it off, immediately shower and dress and leave by 6.30am. If I leave it later it screws my commute. At weekends its usually 7.30am, but i still.immediately get up.

Pandora73 · 05/11/2019 00:10

5.40am, snooze til 6.00am, start work at 7.00am

Gillian1980 · 05/11/2019 00:13

Set for 7am and snooze as long as possible.

Now we have ds in our room, I tend to bring him into bed and feed him while snoozing.

I don’t think I’ve ever sprung out of bed on the first alarm in my life.

BoswellsBollocks · 05/11/2019 00:18

I need to get up at 6:30 but set alarms at 5:30 (radio alarm) and 5:40, 6:00 and 6:18 on my phone Blush

I snooze them all until I have to get out of bed at 6:30. I’m not a morning person.

theemmadilemma · 05/11/2019 00:21

8am, alarm off, covers off, up.

DP is a snoozer. We had to find a compromise because I don't fall back asleep easily once an alarm has gone off so it ruins my sleep in the morning if he's up earlier. He'll snooze it 5 or more times if he has his own way. One snooze is the rule now.

JaceLancs · 05/11/2019 00:21

6.45 then 1-2 snoozes depending on how I feel
Although I’m really not a morning person I do like time to gather my head n drink coffee

PumpkinPieAlibi · 05/11/2019 00:30

4:20 a.m.

Usually sulk under the covers, cursing the Gods for inflicting this particular flavour of torture, then roll out of bed around 4:25.

PinkGinny · 05/11/2019 00:48

Ah, but surely the real question is...

What time do you go to bed? Smile

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 05/11/2019 01:01

On a school day, I have six different alarms. One to wake me up, one to remind me to wake up, one to tell me to get up, one that is 'get the fuck up' (I am usually up and dressed by that point, but just in case), one to remind me to wake the DC up, and then a final 'SHIT SHIT SHIT WE'VE ALL OVERSLEPT AND ARE GOING TO BE LATE FOR SCHOOL' just to make sure I'm totally covered.

The DC are utterly useless at getting up in the morning, so I have to make sure I am vaguely alive before seven.

ChileConCarne · 05/11/2019 06:49

It goes off at 6. I shower, make a cup of tea and then get back into bed to drink it whilst doing my makeup. I’ve had the same routine for decades!

SimonJT · 05/11/2019 06:55

6am, get straight up, check my blood sugars then do a 45 minute work out, showered and dressed by 7am.

honeylulu · 05/11/2019 06:58

5.30, shudder! And no I don't spring out of bed. I stir and pretend I haven't heard it. Then my husband starts jabbing me and telling me to get up and I snarl at him, then I do get up (moaning).

It's my own fault. I go to bed far too late and I'm always soooooo tired. 5.30 is the latest I can get up as I have to have a shower, wash hair, dress and walk to the station for the 6.21 train so husband is trying to make sure I don't miss it.

I used to have the alarm go off at 5.20 so I could snooze it for 10 mins but I realised I actually preferred the extra 10 mins sleep unbroken.

I really love lying in bed on weekend mornings!

userxx · 05/11/2019 07:03

@PumpkinPieAlibi 4.20 😱😱😱😱. Just the thought makes me feel ill.

dayslikethese1 · 05/11/2019 07:09

Eurgh I hate mornings so much. Don't think I've ever gotten up on a first alarm in my life Blush

TheNoodlesIncident · 05/11/2019 07:12

6:10, I get up right away as any tendency to slump down after switching the alarm off might result in my dozing off again. I have a traditional analogue clock, not my phone, so no snooze function. I get up earlier than I have to, just to have a peaceful start to the day on my own. I love DS but I love a little bit of solitude to have breakfast and read quietly.

I'll have to go and wake him up in about five minutes, just enjoying the last of the calmness and silence...

The cat might wake me up earlier but I rely on the clock alarm mostly. (DH is already up and gone by 5:45, poor soul.)

Allyg1185 · 05/11/2019 07:18

I don't set an alarm my ds 8 has woke me up at 7am on the dot everyday for years. Never fails. I've now start to come round a few minutes before 7am now

testing987654321 · 05/11/2019 07:19

6am and no.

My boyfriend is weirdly bouncy at this time so he gets up and makes me a cup of tea.

Damntheman · 05/11/2019 07:22

6.45 and yes I have to get up straight away or I'll feel awful. I have 30 minutes to get me and two kids (3 and 6) out of the house of a morning, can't lie in bed as much as I would love to.. I hate snooze alarms with a passion. I do admittedly have a second alarm for 6.50 just in case, but I 100% always end up turning that off in the bathroom and have yet to need it.
