What time does your alarm go off, and do you ping out of bed straightaway?

I have a new medication to take at least an hour before coffee or tea, so was feeling annoyed I'll have to set my alarm for about half an hour before I plan on getting up - but then realised I never get up with the first alarm anyway Grin so I just need to tweak my way a bit.

I have a few set over the course of 20 mins or half an hour to ease myself into the morning. Am shit at getting up really.

How do you do the morning wake up? Do you need time to acclimatise or do you leap out of bed?

I have an alarm go off at 6am and I put on the radio and put a light on. Then I have another alarm for just before 7am and I do up with this one fairly promptly

EugenesAxe · 05/11/2019 07:24

I’m rubbish and snooze. I think I’ll change as I always end up borderline late after doing all the things I’d like to get done in the house before I leave (cleaner day is the worst).

@BumbleBeee69 intrigued a bit by yours! Are you a farmer, judge, teacher or doctor or something? Sorry just being nosy.

SandAndSeals · 05/11/2019 07:25

It depends on the day. 5:15 on gym days and yes, I jump straight up otherwise I’d fall back asleep.
On non-gym days though, DP’s alarm goes off at 6:30 and I ask him to get me up once he’s finished in the shower and snooze a bit more.

Ohhellooooo · 05/11/2019 07:26

Three days a week (When I’m working) it goes off at 5.10am and I get straight up and in the shower. The other two days it’s 6.30 for DH and to get the kids ready for school. I lounge around much more on those days.

sockittome123 · 05/11/2019 07:30

6:20 on the weekdays, 7am on weekends, and yes, I have to, otherwise I'm late. I leave at 7:35 on weekdays (which means I need to get my arse into gear right about now), 8am on Saturdays and 7:45ish on Sundays. I have a strict timetable on weekdays (6:20 get up and have breakfast, 6:35 get dressed, 7am finish getting ready, have half an hour to myself, etc). I am a real tyrant to myself!

OwlBeThere · 05/11/2019 07:30

I set my alarm and then I get up within 5 mins. Nothing annoys me quite like people who set an alarm every 5 mins for an hour before they actually need to be up (looking at you ex husband!!) all it does is give you an hour of shit sleep. One or two snoozes is acceptable. Just. Grin

bathsh3ba · 05/11/2019 07:30

Set alarm for 6am, listen to three songs on radio then get up. I have to get the kids up at 6.30 so I like 15 mins to myself first. I can get straight up if I have to but I prefer to ease myself up.

Hagbeth · 05/11/2019 07:30

I get up 5:30 and straight out of bed. On weekends between 6-7 am.

Vulpine · 05/11/2019 08:07

I just wake up same time every morning. No alarm

Aposterhasnoname · 05/11/2019 08:08

6am, and if I didn’t leap out of bed immediately it would have to 5.30

DecomposingDurannie · 05/11/2019 08:12

I've never been good at leaping out of bed... I purposefully set my alarm for 6am knowing that i then have time to hit snooze once or twice and read headlines before I actually HAVE to get up.....

Beesandcheese · 05/11/2019 08:13

No alarm the heating wakes me up at this time of year. I wake around 5.30, get up at 6.00. I hate it takes that long as I used to find it easy to get up at a reasonable time!

honeyloops · 05/11/2019 08:13

If I'm in the office, my alarm goes off at 6 and I'm usually up straight away to be out the door at 6.30. If I'm working from home, I wake up to OH's alarm at 7, and spend an hour looking at the news/Twitter, making a brew, having breakfast. I actually prefer the days I get up immediately, I feel more awake - the slow starts make me feel groggier.

Penners99 · 05/11/2019 08:16

0530 every morning and I get up immediately.

slartibarti · 05/11/2019 08:22

I hated being woken up by an alarm, have to get up at 7am so kept waking from 5am to check the time.
Bought a daylight alarm clock a few months ago and problem solved Smile. I wake up gradually as the light gets stronger, don't need a sound alarm. Much less stressful.

francienolan · 05/11/2019 08:37

7.45 and I look at my notifications on my phone for 5 minutes or so before getting up.

MidnightMystery · 05/11/2019 08:58

7:20am and I have to get up otherwise I'd never get up!

It used to be 7am and the 7:20 back up alarm but I changed my routine so I can get the extra 20 mins!

Get a glass of water and a pill pot beside your bed so when your alarm goes off you can quickly take it without opening your eyes Grin

Lolwhat · 05/11/2019 09:04

7 am, puppy straight in garden, back in, get half dressed, feed puppy, take puppy for 20 min walk, snooze at 10 when he goes to sleep😂

Jeremybearimybaby · 05/11/2019 10:15

Too fucking early.
No.

Right, back to RTFT! Grin

AliDran · 05/11/2019 10:27

Depends on the day either 4.40am and a 10 minute snooze, or 3.05am with a 5 minute snooze

NowYouListenToMeFella · 05/11/2019 10:43

Alarm goes off at 7am and straight out of the bed. Most mornings I wake a few minutes before it. Use a sunrise alarm clock so that helps with the dark mornings. No alarm set at the weekends but will often wake up at work time. Get up, make coffee and back to bed to read before the gym.

JustaScratch · 05/11/2019 12:29

Alarm goes off at 7.30, but I'm often awake beforehand. I'll usually get out of bed after 5-10 minutes and, if DD is still asleep, go and make a coffee and enjoy 15 minutes peace. I wake her up (if I need to) at 7.45, and DH usually rolls out of bed at 8 so we can all have breakfast together. That's the aim, at least!

Rowgtfc72 · 05/11/2019 16:07

4am but I'm usually already up by then. Work mon to fri but usually awake by 4 on the weekend too unfortunately.

lazylinguist · 05/11/2019 16:11

Alarm set for 7 but usually wake just before it goes off. I get up straight away, no need to acclimatise myself as I don't feel sleepy and never go back to sleep, even at the weekend.
