Jeremy Corbyn

I see so many posters saying they won’t vote for Labour as they don’t like Jeremy Corbyn - why? If the Labour policies are good then why not vote for those rather than the leader?

OP posts:
BertrandRussell · 05/11/2019 19:43

“ Oh, and Bertrand, i take back what I said earlier about intelligent conversation - ”
Right back atcha- you lost me with the suggestion that Corbyn is about to engineer the violent overthrow of the bourgeoisie.....

Alsohuman · 05/11/2019 19:44

Come on, it’ll be higher taxes for anybody that pays tax

Of course it won’t. Where on earth did you get that from?

BertrandRussell · 05/11/2019 19:45

“ Come on, it’ll be higher taxes for anybody that pays tax, that’s what all these promises add up to.”

That’s certainly not what the last Labour Manifesto said- have you had a sneak preview of the latest one?

MrsDoylesTea · 05/11/2019 19:45

Read derxa's comment. And I gave examples of what I believe were the trappings of Marxist ideology. But hey, don't engage with that and instead continue sneering.

Oh, and nobody suggested you wouldn't know what proles and the bourgeoise were. I wasn't trying to put you down but that seemed to be your assumption. This is why you can't rationally discuss with Corbynites!

JustAnotherPoster00 · 05/11/2019 19:48

Betrand its as we feared I'm afraid they were right, I just got a peek at the manifesto and if you earn more than £1.50 per week, youre taxed at 98.7% Hmm Grin

bottleofbeer · 05/11/2019 19:49

I’m perfectly rational tyvm!

I just don’t take talk forums that seriously. What I will take seriously is how I vote and if someone along the way reads what I say, strokes their chin and reconsiders their conservative vote then fab!

BertrandRussell · 05/11/2019 19:49

Yes, you said you thought the abolition of private schools suggested the violent overthrow of the bourgeoisie......I disagree.

magicautumnalhues · 05/11/2019 19:50

The spending commitments are completely out of hand from both parties - whatever the manifestos day when they appear, it’ll doubtless be yet more back of the envelope calculations. Most of the economists working on public spending think the tax debate reeks with dishonesty.

The SNP put taxes up on ‘the rich’ in Scotland a year or so ago - 70 percent of Scottish people earn £30,000 pa or less, the tax hit increase hit everyone above that.

I don’t have a problem with tax rises, I do have a problem with pretence though.

bottleofbeer · 05/11/2019 19:51

Bertrand shhh, it’s a secret known only to those who are paid up members of the Labour Party remember?

Molotov cocktails through the windows of Erin.

BertrandRussell · 05/11/2019 19:52

Incidentally, corbyn supporters and labour voters are very far from being synonyms.

bottleofbeer · 05/11/2019 19:52

Poor Erin.

Eton ETON!

derxa · 05/11/2019 19:52

Girls I read your 'brainwashing' article and the BTL comments. This was a good one:
The fellow has been in Parliament a very long time and no Labour leader and some have been very good; saw anything positive in him to appoint him to a post in government or opposition. As a tax payer I am fed up paying him approx £150,000 to do nothing. He should be all over the Tories and their failed policies. He is a lazy person who needs to retire for the sake of the country and the party.

MrsDoylesTea · 05/11/2019 19:54

I think the great thing about this thread is that anyone who hadn't made up their mind and reading it will see the usual name-calling, snide behaviour from Bertrand and gottleofgeer and be more likely to be massively put off Labour. Well done!

bottleofbeer · 05/11/2019 19:55

Yeah I’m absolutely certain that our posts will make the fence sitters vote Tory.

You’ve got some mad ideas you kid!

bottleofbeer · 05/11/2019 19:56

(Remind me where I called anyone names?)

Alsohuman · 05/11/2019 20:02

I think you may be entirely wrong @MrsDoylesTea. You may wish to review some of the Tory supporting posts if you’re looking for sneering.

Justanotherlurker · 05/11/2019 20:08

Why not make the likes of starbucks and amazon, multi billion pound businesses pay tax?

You being a criminologist shows that you have little understanding of a gloablised economy.

Ignore Betrand, she has no thoughts of her own and just pretends everyone else is outraged, she has yet to offer any original or insightful political commentary despite hear years on MN.

HermioneWeasley · 05/11/2019 20:11

I am asking all the candidates in my area these questions

Jeremy Corbyn
bottleofbeer · 05/11/2019 20:11

Yeah, a crim not an economist. Lucky really, I’m crap at maths.

Now if you want to talk about white collar crime and corporate punishment (or not, because they get away with murder, literally) then I’m your girl 😁

Alsohuman · 05/11/2019 20:20

Ignore Betrand, she has no thoughts of her own and just pretends everyone else is outraged, she has yet to offer any original or insightful political commentary despite hear years on MN.

Maybe we could focus on the issues?

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 05/11/2019 20:22

Can't stand him.
He's an anti-semite or, if I were feeling extremely charitable (which I'm not) I'd say he was at least an enabler of antisemitism. That alone is enough.

bottleofbeer · 05/11/2019 20:24

The anti semitism was a smear campaign ffs.

He loves the IRA too and it planning mass genocide from his allotment.

BertrandRussell · 05/11/2019 20:25

I don’t think I’ve ever called anyone a name. I admit to snidery on occasion- sometimes the temptation. Is overwhelming.

Justanotherlurker · 05/11/2019 20:32

This may be worth reading:

www.thelondoneconomic.com/opinion/think-corbyn-is-a-danger-to-britain-heres-how-youve-been-brainwashed/12/12/

Imagine sharing a left leaning breitbart comparable blog article to tell everyone else how wrong they are, and still pretend it's only the right that is sppon fed be echo chambers and articles written with a kernal of truth and blown out of proportion.

You would have had more credibility to just link to sqwarkbox

GlitchStitch · 05/11/2019 20:36

The anti semitism was a smear campaign ffs.

Bullshit, there is plenty of evidence. Do you think people haven't looked into this issue for themselves before coming to this conclusion? It's gaslighting on an industrial scale, being told that things you can see and hear aren't true.
