How are you voting in December?

Apologies if there’s already a thread on this - I did look and couldn’t find one.

So now it’s been confirmed that we’re having a GE in December, how are you voting? And what are your predictions on the results?

I’ve seen quite a few posts on here over the past couple months from people saying they wouldn’t vote now as they are politically homeless - wondering if these people still feel that way?

I’m voting labour - albeit in a very safe Tory area (so feel very much as though my vote doesn’t count). Reasons being I would never vote Tory and I don’t like a lot of what the Lim Dems have said recently. I also couldn’t bring myself not to vote at all.

This country's insatiable need to be f*%ked by an old Etonian and his mates continues to mystify me.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/10/2019 15:18

@formerbabe, if Labour will they'll negotiate a soft Brexit (SM and CU), but then put it back to the people for a confirmatory vote.

I think you probably align more with them as opposed to revoke (LD) and hard (right) Brexit (Cons).

I don't see a problem with checking if Brexit is actually still wanted, especially as if they did win, the referendum would probably take place around the 4 year anniversary!

Biker47 · 31/10/2019 15:19

Not Labour.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 31/10/2019 15:27

Everyone always assumes it will follow the US model, completely ignoring the fact that every other European country has a different, and better, system.

That's possibly because some of us have read Britannia Unchained, co-written by current Cabinet members, in which they quite openly extol the virtues of a US-style system.

You'd have to be wandering round with your eyes shut not to see the prevailing direction in which the Tories want to take us, and it isn't good for anyone who doesn't have a cushion of wealth - enough to fully protect them in the event of a job loss (which will be made easier for employers when the Tories remove more workers' rights - or having an accident/serious illness/disabled child. Bully for you if you have that cushion but too many of us don't - and it's not necessarily because of a moral failing, workshy attitude or poor life choices either.

Also because the US is the only country (that I know of) that the UK has discussed the future of the health service with.

not for the shagging bumbling liar, and not for the student politician who supports the terrorists.

beyond that - I'll let you know.

Ginghamricecakes · 31/10/2019 16:23

PP above has highlighted another huge issue in UK politics... We are in the UK and not the US and we do NOT vote for individuals. Our political system is based on the notion that we vote for POLICIES that will benefit the country, in the form of a political party.

This should truly be clear to all now, considering we have been whimsically changing PM's for the last few years.

SirChing · 31/10/2019 16:41

For those on here who are complaining about paying thousands a month in tax and trying to keep a "roof over their heads" whilst "working hard" - I truly feel your pain. I have been you. I know what that's like.

So if anyone wants to swap with me, not go to work, and have my disability and live on benefits, then they are more than welcome.......I am generous like that!

100% this.

Fatshedra · 31/10/2019 17:24

Labour doesn't detail how it is going to get the money to do all these wonderful things.
Oh, yes, it is going to get it from these rich bankers/ fat cats/ some other random well off people. But how - it is like a primary school what I"d do if I ran the country bollox. HOW will you get all this money to do all these wonderful things. If you raise tax to a silly amount the rich will move out. If you insist companies do away with zero hour contracts they will have to charge more and then, when no one buys from them, go out of business. Some realism would be nice.

Xenia · 31/10/2019 17:30

I thnk Corbyn has made a mistake today choosing to kick tax payers in the teeth as his first issue. Those of us who pay huge amounts of tax are being told in effect we evade it all, pay none and are not really welcome in the UK.

Excitedforxmas · 31/10/2019 17:31

SNP

MrsBadcrumble123 · 31/10/2019 17:34

Diane ‘let’s let the whole world come and live here’ Abbott as Home Secretary, IRA sympathiser and anti Semite as prime minister
Lib Dem and Labour are vile. Only reason I’m voting conservative is to stop both those parties gaining power....and I hate the conservatives - not much choice but I will cry if Swinson or Corbyn are elected

Oscarsdaddy · 31/10/2019 17:40

If someone guaranteed the revoke Article 50 if they get in then they get my vote

Yspadadden · 31/10/2019 17:44

It has to be Labour if you're in England. Scotland and Wales have issues of their own but for most of us, a Lib Dem vote, or any other minor party vote is a vote in support of the Conservatives and a continuation of Conservative govt wd be goodbye NHS, goodbye environment and austerity forever.

Jack80 · 31/10/2019 17:48

Not sure

FishandChippies · 31/10/2019 17:49

Conservative, very safe seat here anyway. I would never vote for labour, particularly not with Corbyn there, I think he’s horrible. People saying about how can you vote Tory, how you feel about Tory is how I feel about Labour

thewrinklefairy · 31/10/2019 17:49

Labour or Plaid Cymru - as a doctor, there is no circumstance under which I would vote Conservative.
Lib Dems not any sort of credible option for me, especially after the total back track at previous GEs / coalition debacle.

Iriahm · 31/10/2019 17:52

My vote is totally wasted here in Scotland. SNP will power through. They do not represent me sadly! If I was back in England I’d be voting Conservative and to get BoJo to sort out this mess - we have a deal! Let’s move on and rebuild this country

NoWordForFluffy · 31/10/2019 17:53

@Oscarsdaddy, that's Lib Dems' policy.

Bubble2019 · 31/10/2019 17:53

Conservatives all the way! Corbyn is a dangerous Man who is only out for himself. Jo Swinson is a remainder who will take Brexit off the table. The nation voted to LEAVE so how undemocratic is that!

InforaPenny7 · 31/10/2019 17:56

ABC for me too

Antigonads · 31/10/2019 17:57

Tory but in a safe labour seat.

I’d never vote for a party who thinks you can change sex.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/10/2019 17:59

I’d never vote for a party who thinks you can change sex.

Then you can't vote Tory, as they think exactly that. Your choice is BXP or UKIP.
