meaww.com/missing-teen-adult-video-pornhub-modelhub-snapchat-periscope

A missing 15 year old girl was spotted in videos hosted by Pornhub. Those of you who are “ok” with porn - are you “ok” with this?

The sentence the man involved in making the videos is for another thread, but is shocking.

“ I love porn and watch a lot of it”

How do you make sure that the women involved are fully consenting, well paid and neither exploited or trafficked?

Bodyposiftw · 29/10/2019 19:35

Serrafina Pekkola how do you make sure actresses in regular films have not been exploited/ sexually harassed, as highlighted by the Weinstein case?
How can you ever know, and at what point do horrible things become statistically more likely/ significant?

Finchy19 · 29/10/2019 19:36

'How do you make sure that the women involved are fully consenting, well paid and neither exploited or trafficked?'

How you make sure that every product you use is not made by someone who is not well paid and neither exploited nor trafficked?

Morgan12 · 29/10/2019 19:36

Exploitation exists everywhere, in every industry, worldwide.

Whatisthisfuckery · 29/10/2019 19:37

Porn is disgusting. The acts that are performed on women in the vast majority of porn are violent and/or abusive. I don’t want to watch it because of this. If people are fine with watching violent/abusive acts perpetrated on girls and women then I’m not really surprised they couldn’t give a fuck about the girls/women involved in making it, are you?

SmileEachDay · 29/10/2019 19:41

using a horrific case involving a child to shame people who watch adult porn is not going to go down well...

I’m bringing a case of a child who has been filmed being raped on a mainstream porn platform to wider attention. Particularly to the attention of people who support porn and either don’t think very critically about it or who trot out the line “mainstream porn isn’t exploitative”.

ForalltheSaints · 29/10/2019 19:45

Think about how a teenage young woman is expected to see certain behaviour towards or from a man as a result of his watching porn. Many of those supposedly consenting are probably making the choice because of poverty or some addictions.

Far far worse if a participant is under age.

frostedviolets · 29/10/2019 19:48

I think you’ll find that people had sex before PornHub....

Indeed.
And I think you will also find that a large proportion of couples watch porn together, it can be helpful for ED/low sex drive, a large proportion of people watch it to satisfy a basic instinct when their partner can't like mismatched sex drives.

Not all Porn is not the devil.

Violent porn is vile and should not be allowed I agree.
Porn depicting lack of consent is also vile and should not be allowed I agree.

But plenty of the porn out there is non violent, perfectly normal sex.

I have never watched anything remotely violent in my life and never anything 'extreme'.

frostedviolets · 29/10/2019 19:51

You can't.
What do YOU do to ensure the people serving your coffee or making up your hotel room or making your clothes or picking your vegetables or driving your taxi aren't exploited?
Exploitation is everywhere.
It's awful but you can't avoid it

You can try. How do you try with porn?

Bodyposiftw · 29/10/2019 19:54

So OP, are you interested in earning people against PornHub specifically then, as something that claims to feature more ethical porn but actually doesn't monitor things closely?
Or are you lecturing people who watch mainstream porn , because they don't think properly about it etc?
We all know from your posts that it is clearly the latter.
Raising awareness has some value, but it really isn't what you are doing here.
You are not trying to help women, you are just interested in shaming.
And I say this as someone who doesn't use porn.

I have watched a LOT of porn.
The sort of porn you describe is very easily avoided.

I have been watching for years and never ever watched anything depicting violence/abuse. Ever.

Porn sites have plenty of videos of what appear to be (as you can nevertheless be 109% sure I guess) consensual, regular couples complete with regular, average figures doing perfectly normal, average sex.
It isn't all violent and degrading at all.

Bodyposiftw · 29/10/2019 19:55

Warning, not earning

frostedviolets · 29/10/2019 19:58

100%

I saw recently the age confirmation is no longer going ahead.

I have a friend who was in porn a few years ago, I’ve asked various questions about it and been largely satisfied with the answers I have received. I don’t really watch porn, I occasionally watch it with my boyfriend, but not a great deal. I have however watched one of my friends videos.

SmileEachDay · 29/10/2019 20:08

I’d be interested to know how you have reached that conclusion from anything I have posted.

"If you watch porn on a mainstream channel, you may well be watching a child or a woman who is being exploited"

This is the exact same argument for chocolate, coffee and any of our goods from all third world countries.

AHobbyaweek · 29/10/2019 20:09

I find it very telling that people keep talking about "men's rights" as if only men watch/enjoy porn.
You cannot tar all porn with the same brush and it is such a diverse area as quite a lot of fetish porn has absolutely no sex/penetration etc at all.

frostedviolets · 29/10/2019 20:10

You can try. How do you try with porn?

How do you try to avoid exploitation with anything exactly?

We know exploitation is everywhere so how would you actually try to avoid it in your life?

We know it's present in takeaways/restaurants/food factories/farms/clothing factories/Films (and I don't mean the erotic kind)/music/the beauty industry/retail...

The treatment that some of these groups of people will have had will be comparable or worse to the treatment of these women.

So, what are you doing to avoid exploitation in your life?

Lockheart · 29/10/2019 20:15

"Porn" is an extremely varied medium with myriad different forms, and I think it's very unhelpful to consider it as a single entity and make sweeping statements.

I doubt anyone would put drawings, amateur porn made by couples, or dirty fanfic stories (all porn) in the same category as a hardcore video, for example. I'd say there are vast differences.

The problem is the lack of moderation around sites like Pornhub, and others, where anyone can upload anything with no checks and balances. That's the issue, not pornography itself.

RebornFlame · 29/10/2019 20:18

I love sex, I hate porn and the dehumanisation of women who are reduced to fuck holes.

It’s a horrible culture that’s shaping the next generations of young adults who won’t have a clue about how sex can be a mutual, awesome experience.

Bodyposiftw · 29/10/2019 20:21

AHobbyAweek, no one is mentioning gay men in porn either. Surely if they want to approach this from a human rights perspective they should include men too?

RebornFlame · 29/10/2019 20:21

We all just do what we can. I’m a vegan who only buys second hand clothes and toys. However I use a fungi of petrol and car miles ferrying my son to a school that meets his SEN. I think avoiding watching rape and exploitation is quite an easy one.
