A missing 15 year old girl was spotted in videos hosted by Pornhub. Those of you who are “ok” with porn - are you “ok” with this?

The sentence the man involved in making the videos is for another thread, but is shocking.

OP posts:

I hate how women have been brainwashed into thinking porn is cool.

No brain washing and I don't think it's cool, I do enjoy it though.
HTH.

Awful for this girl though, I have a 15 year old dd.

CAG12 · 29/10/2019 17:59

@SmileEachDay not to speak for the other poster, but it come across as if you hate ALL porn because of instances like this, and take the moral high ground

SerafinaPekkola · 29/10/2019 18:00

Well I have an agenda. My agenda wanting to stop the exploitation of women and girls, and to challenge the damage that the increasing pontification of our society is doing to young people’s perception of sex and relationships. Happy to wear it on a t shirt.

And when I’m not wearing that t shirt, I’ll wear one decrying the insidious brainwashing that is turning us all into porn apologists. It is heartbreaking to see women defending a man’s right to wank over the image of an exploited woman or girl.

TheDarkPassenger · 29/10/2019 18:00

I hate how women have been brainwashed into thinking porn is cool.

Lol my partners have always denied watching porn (I do believe they do watch it though) and I still watch it, zero brainwashing here!

I’m so very far from cool though

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 29/10/2019 18:00

I don’t know how anyone can bang one out to porn, knowing that women and girls are trafficked and exploited and abused and injured in the making of it. It is dehumanising.

Doobigetta · 29/10/2019 18:08

Ok, so we know that some underage girls are shown in porn films, and that some of them might have been coerced, and aren’t old enough to give informed consent, and it isn’t legal. But we don’t know how many, and it might only be a really small number. What we definitely do know, for a fact, is that lots and lots of people really like porn, and some of them are definitely women.

Just be cool, guys. We can’t stop doing something that hurts an unknown, unknowable number of women if we definitely know that lots of men (AND SOME WOMEN) definitely get off on it. That would totally be fucked up priorities. So not cool.

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 29/10/2019 18:14

YABU

Annabk · 29/10/2019 18:19

YANBU. Horrible industry with some willing participants but also a lot of exploitation.
Sadly a majority of people do not care about the exploitation of others, be that women in porn, workers in developing countries or animals in entertainment. It’s the nature of our consumer society.

CAG12 · 29/10/2019 18:23

@SerafinaPekkola are you also going to throw out all your vegetables because SOME workers have been made to work on farms as slaves? Are you going to burn your clothes because SOME workers are underpaid for horrendously long hours? No?

Then why would you say ALL porn is terrible because some girls/women are under aged or abused?

Arnoldthecat · 29/10/2019 18:32

I dont think its a matter of whether or not you are "ok" with porn. This is a simple matter of the current evolution of technology. Anyone who can operate a device can now film or photograph stuff often without consent and/or agreement and either keep it on the device or unleash it into the public domain using a multitude of different software packages where essentially, the subject achieves digital immortality.

frostedviolets · 29/10/2019 18:55

I think the post near the top asking If we should stop wearing clothes because most are the product of child labour had it pretty much spot on.

There will be exploited women on porn sites no doubt, but they aren't ALL exploited women and it is ridiculous to suggest they all are.

Exploitation is all around us.

Many of the workers in nail bars are modern day slaves.
Should we all never get our nails done?

Many hospitality workers are immigrants being overworked and underpaid.
Should we all boycott hotels?

Ditto for farm work and cleaners of big corporations.

Many of our clothes are made by child workers.
Should we stop wearing clothes?

The list just goes on and on and on and on....

There is nothing wrong with porn using people who fully consent.

Ban it and it'll go underground and it'll get a great deal worse for those women who are trafficked and exploited.

The answer is surely to tighten up the regulations around the porn industry.

SerafinaPekkola · 29/10/2019 19:02

I do my absolute best to minimise the number of exploited people who provide products or services for me. I realise that it is impossible to completely eliminate the possibility, but I do try.
What do the porn apologists on here do to try to eliminate the possibility that the women in the porn they watch are trafficked/exploited?

SerafinaPekkola · 29/10/2019 19:04

And anybody who is suggesting that the necessity to wear clothes and rhe need to use porn are in any way comparable has a very strange set of values.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 29/10/2019 19:10

I can't think of any industry that does not have some element of trafficking. It's an entirely unacceptable but unfortunate fact of life.

I'll still watch porn though. Just as plenty of women will still go to nail bars, car washes, takeaways and restaurants staffed by workers getting paid a pittance and living in terrible conditions.

StreetwiseHercules · 29/10/2019 19:14

“ And anybody who is suggesting that the necessity to wear clothes and rhe need to use porn are in any way comparable has a very strange set of values.”

Nobody has equated them, but they have drawn parallels based on the arguments you are putting forward.

Are you going to throw your telly in the bin?

frostedviolets · 29/10/2019 19:18

And anybody who is suggesting that the necessity to wear clothes and rhe need to use porn are in any way comparable has a very strange set of values

You don't see any similarities at all between children as young as 3 or 4 being forced to work in unsanitary, dangerous conditions against their will, sometimes beaten, often injured and women told to go for the promise of a job only to be forced to work in often unsanitary conditions against their will, sometimes beaten and often injured?

The majority of clothes bought are made by exploited people, often children.

But their suffering seems to go unnoticed.

Bodyposiftw · 29/10/2019 19:19

When are you going to start a thread targeting meat-eaters OP? Just make sure you post the most extreme example of horrific animal cruelty.
You will feel superior for having a point and convince exactly zero people to stop eating meat.

NoFun21 · 29/10/2019 19:21

I hate porn. I hate the fact that my kids will be introduced to this nasty, violent synthetic version of intimacy.

spanglydangly · 29/10/2019 19:22

Why are you asking for people in support of porn to read this, surely you're going to get people that are going to argue with you?

You want an argument or do you honestly think you're going to change everyone's opinion?

PositiveVibez · 29/10/2019 19:23

It’s quite a diverse and complex thing

You what????

It's the least complex thing ever.

It's women getting fucked in every orifice, every which way, for people to wank over.

You actually can't get any more base than porn.

frostedviolets · 29/10/2019 19:25

And anybody who is suggesting that the necessity to wear clothes and rhe need to use porn are in any way comparable has a very strange set of values

And another thing.
The instinct to have sex is a very powerful one.
Most adults would agree it is of sufficient importance to them that their relationships suffer, sometimes irreparably without it in high enough and good enough quality.
Women like sex, we are sexual beings and Porn will always be a thing for that reason whether you like it or not, best to regulate it better to try and reduce (because unfortunately you'll never remove entirely in any business) the risk of exploitation.

StreetwiseHercules · 29/10/2019 19:26

⬆️That’s just base ignorance.

frostedviolets · 29/10/2019 19:27

I hate porn. I hate the fact that my kids will be introduced to this nasty, violent synthetic version of intimacy.

Not all porn is like that.
I love porn and watch a lot of it.
I have never watched it anything violent nor anything depicting 'nasty' things like 'fucking in every orrifce'.

SerafinaPekkola · 29/10/2019 19:29

I think you’ll find that people had sex before PornHub....

Bodyposiftw · 29/10/2019 19:30

SpanglyDangly I don't watch porn, ever, and even I am annoyed at the title of this thread.

Using a horrific case involving a child to shame people who watch adult porn is not going to go down well....
