meaww.com/missing-teen-adult-video-pornhub-modelhub-snapchat-periscope

A missing 15 year old girl was spotted in videos hosted by Pornhub. Those of you who are “ok” with porn - are you “ok” with this?

The sentence the man involved in making the videos is for another thread, but is shocking.

Aashna · 04/11/2019 08:38

“The whole thread is vile.”

Er no - what is “vile” is simulated rape, incest, choking, violence and extreme degradation - free for all to see and be influenced by - teens, potential paedophiles and rapists alike. You’re only ever a click away! But that’s just porn, what can you do?

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 04/11/2019 08:46

Anyone using free porn hosting sites is providing advert revenue to whoever has paid to have their clips on the home page that day/week/whatever. Even if you’re only using it to search for your “ethical porn”, by the time you find it you’ve supported other suppliers with who knows what sort of questionable ethics or practices.

I find it odd that since every MN porn user apparently only ever uses the ethical stuff, such an effort still has to go into finding it - searching out and following certain porn stars on social media? How addicted to your porn fix must you have to be to have your IG feed full of porn stars? You would think that there’d be far more demand for “ethical” porn already, since no one here dreams of using the free stuff if they can’t guarantee its provenance. Apparently. What an incredible coincidence that all MN porn consumers only use the non-exploitative stuff. There’s probably some kind of sociological study to be done there.

“ I find it odd that since every MN porn user apparently only ever uses the ethical stuff, such an effort still has to go into finding it - ”
And how shy they are about explaining to others how to find it. I would have thought they’d be delighted to share with the group.....

PencilsInSpace · 04/11/2019 09:27

Pretty much all the anti porn posters are calling for an outright ban on porn!

Really? Where? I think most of us know that's completely unrealistic.

We're just suggesting you stop using it. That's all.

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 04/11/2019 09:51

Well I kind of thought you weren't into it so would have no need for advice on how to find it. But sure I'm delighted to help you and it really is quite simple.

  1. You go to your internet browser
  2. type in 'ethical porn' or 'fairtrade porn'

You'll find many links and information. Enjoy!

See above - it really isn't rocket science. It's a simple as researching where to go on holiday or what car to buy.

Aashna · 04/11/2019 11:03

To be honest, I can’t really be bothered to search this so-called “ethical” stuff. I suspect it’s just another money-driven gimmick, masquerading as “art” aimed at those who regard themselves as more discernible. While some of it may be what it says on the tin, much of its will inevitably be yet another attempt to put an acceptable face on an industry of misery.

So, you actively want to avoid looking into anything that may disagree with your viewpoint that 'all porn is bad'. You then assume/imply that it's 'bad' anyway despite not taking a minute to actually look into it. Basically you have no interest in accepting alternative points of view or even accepting that there may be an alternative.

It's not actually - but if you 'can't be bothered' to do your research you have no real evidence to back up this claim.

While some of it may be what it says on the tin, much of its will inevitably be yet another attempt to put an acceptable face on an industry of misery

Yes you are right to a degree - there are individuals in the industry who are trying to turn the industry around and to make ethical (or fairtrade) porn for the very reason that there will always be a market for it - it's been here since the ancient world (obvs not in video format but certainly in other mediums that were familiar to their particular cultures - I've seen Viking pornographic drawings in a Neolithic burial chamber in the Orkneys) and it's here to stay - whether you like it or not.

Aashna · 04/11/2019 15:32

When I say, “can’t be bothered”, I mean it’s not something I feel the need to explore personally. Watching carefully set-up sex scenes with fixed storylines and people I’m unlikely to even find attractive, is usually quite boring for me because it’s too obvious and it’s very difficult to avoid it being naff, if that makes sense.

I accept other people may feel differently.

However, I doubt it would occur to the average porn-user to type the word “ethical” anywhere near the word “porn” in Google search. The nature of porn is that you might start watching one thing, but then “recommended for you” is stuff that’s gradually more and more extreme. Previews are flashing up all over the screen and playing out in loop. Particularly for teens or people with borderline personalities - it can be very dangerous and essentially warp their minds. They feel compelled to search for more and more extreme stuff to get their fix.

This is the reality of porn use and we all know it is. People might start off with the softer, apparently ”consenting” stuff, but what when that becomes boring? What next? It’s a slippery slope more often than not.

pinksparkleunicorns · 04/11/2019 19:38

@AashnaYes I did beat my wife, but who are you to condemn me? You once went to Saudi Arabia so you would do well to think about what goes on there. Meanwhile, I’ll just carry on punching her with no conscience because other things happen eh?”

THANK YOU for this. Genuinely. I didn't understand the 'whataboutery' thing until this. 'Whataboutery' is a very annoying term. It makes sense now though.

SmileEachDay · 05/11/2019 18:55

I reeeeeally want to go on the palm oil thread and point out that porn exploits lots of people so people shouldn’t boycott palm oil.

I won’t, because that would be a dick move. But it’s really tempting. (Apologies to the palm oil thread starter, it’s not a dig at you, I fully agree with what you’re saying)

Palm oil...I guess you mean the “AIBU to boycott Cadburys” thread? It’s running at 56% YABU, 44% YANBU atm, so pretty even. There’s some interesting info from some posters, although I see the OP there feels everyone was nasty and will probably NC before posting again.

I quite like Aldi chocolate actually - it uses sustainable palm oil, though there’s probably some reason not to eat it from an exploitation POV 🤷‍♀️

But yeah - that one is more about boycotting a company as opposed to a product or service. It would perhaps be more comparable to this one if it were about palm oil generally.

There was an interesting article about sex-for-sale recently and how to fight slavery without shutting the websites down www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/crime-agency-we-ll-help-sexforsale-websites-fight-slavery-not-shut-them-a4277766.html

PencilsInSpace · 05/11/2019 20:12

Have you read that article? They're not fighting slavery, they're giving up!

Moves to shut down websites used to sell sex have been abandoned by the National Crime Agency.

Under a new strategy, the agency will instead advise the “adult services” websites on how to “improve their standards” to stop the exploitation of slaves.

PencilsInSpace · 05/11/2019 20:15

The NCA’s aim is to persuade those who run the websites to stop them being used to promote unlawful activity.

Yes that'll work Hmm

They don't even appear to have proposed any sanctions for those sites which don't 'improve their standards'.

BertrandRussell · 05/11/2019 20:29

That is one of the most depressing articles I’ve ever read.

@SarahNade - have you actually read any of the thread at all?

PencilsInSpace · 05/11/2019 21:03

There is nothing empowering or modern about being an apologist for child rape.

hangingabout · 05/11/2019 21:09

“Us modern women” Grin

Isn’t that how they referred to themselves in the 1920s?

You go SarahNade. Woooooo !!!!!

SmileEachDay · 05/11/2019 21:19

Um what did SarahNade say? That was a super quick deletion 😳

That article is v depressing

OP posts:
hangingabout · 05/11/2019 21:23

She was kindly telling us how to be “modern” Smile. You know, nothing like a bit of PornHub over high tea in the parlour. All the rage with those modern ladies, I hear.

BertrandRussell · 05/11/2019 21:24

I wonder why that was deleted? All she was saying is what the porn apologists have been saying all thread. Porn is cool and women like it too and get with the programme you pearl clutching prudes!

SmileEachDay · 05/11/2019 21:31

Dammit. I’ve been meaning to modernise.

Although it’s getting a bit chilly to be pornificating all over the place.
