Is liam Payne co parenting?

Happy to be flamed but when you are wealthy, yet admit you don't see your baby/young child for weeks, you are not co parenting? Everyone has their own priorities and ambitions, but at least one parent needs to prioritise ambitions around their child? I'm not saying it's always the mum, but don't you are not parenting if you see your child once a month or so...

Seems like he wasn't really ready for a child, he's still like a child himself. I was a bit open-mouthed when he said he couldn't connect with his 2 year old. I feel a bit sorry for Cheryl, she's definitely the main parent, but she's got rid of the man child now and seems to get good support from her mum.

GrumpyHoonMain · 26/10/2019 23:23

He was clearly only a sperm donor.

Ginger1982 · 26/10/2019 23:29

She just wanted a baby. He was too immature for it all.

chuck7 · 26/10/2019 23:34

No, he’s a lazy father. He says Cheryl is very “understanding” but it’s not like she can force him to prioritise his child. What’s worse is he’s being public about it which tells me he is clueless as to how much of a feckless father he is

StillCoughingandLaughing · 26/10/2019 23:37

That whole relationship was weird. If a male celeb of Cheryl’s age had shacked up with someone he’d met when she was 14 and he was in a position influence, accusations would be flying.

JaniceBattersby · 26/10/2019 23:38

I’m pretty sure Cheryl’s doing all the heavy lifting here and that he is both very immature and very unrealistic about how much effort it takes to raise a child. While Cheryl is publicly amicable with him, I’m guessing that she’s not so chuffed behind closed doors.

She seems to be doing a great job herself so all power to her.

FrogFairy · 26/10/2019 23:39

I would have more sympathy if he was dirt poor and working away for long spells was the only way he could provide for his child. But he has millions, he need never work again if he didn’t want to. Or at least he could put his career on hold or try to achieve some work life balance.

Celine Dion and her husband?

sweeneytoddsrazor · 26/10/2019 23:42

No he isn't coparenting but I very much doubt if Cheryl wants him to. I suspect she wanted a baby, he wanted the fantasy. Both got what they wanted.

Iloveacurry · 26/10/2019 23:44

She wanted a baby, I think he was just the sperm donor.

Marriedwithchildren5 · 26/10/2019 23:47

Sorry. He's 26. Bear is 2. Regardless of Cheryl's intentions. What a loser dad.

jennymanara · 26/10/2019 23:49

A child himself!! FFs he is 26. He is not a child. He might be behaving like a child, but he is an adult man.

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 26/10/2019 23:49

Who??

I feel like I should know who "Cheryl" is. Are we talking about the woman who was previously married to Ashley Cole?

"Liam Payne" also rings faint bells, but not in a good way.

Oh christ, he's not Sarah Payne's brother is he?

jennymanara · 26/10/2019 23:51

@StillCoughingandLaughing Except he was not 14.

PrimalLass · 26/10/2019 23:52

He's hot but dim. And loaded.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/10/2019 23:52

She just wanted a baby. He was too immature for it all plenty of parents I ntheri early 20s who manage to prioritise their children over their own desires. If Cheryl had been 23, she'd have still had to step up. No one would give her a free pass cos she was too young

blowmybarnacles · 26/10/2019 23:53

He isn't a child, he is a grown man. Old enough for sex, old enough to man up.

I hope his career goes down the pan, the little shit.

jennymanara · 26/10/2019 23:54

I am amazed that anyone is describing a 26 year old man as a child. What age do men stop getting a free pass?

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 26/10/2019 23:55

Can't bring myself to care tbh

Upordown · 26/10/2019 23:56

Yes, I think Cheryl is the main parent and thank goodness she's prioritising Bear, I was just taken aback with Liam's remark about seeing Bear so infrequently...as thoigh it was out of his control. Yes he's young himself, but his wealth gives him the choice of being a parent. I don't know why i feel so strongly, but I think maybe it's his attitude, it seems like he's a bystander in his son's life.

Yes the openly admitting to being, well, a shit dad was a bit Hmm

But he was in that boy band dontcha know and is pretty to look at so he wont get too much stick 🤷‍♀️

WorraLiberty · 26/10/2019 23:59

EvenMoreFuriousVexation is Google not working for you?

Venger · 27/10/2019 00:01

What age do men stop getting a free pass?

Never. Never ever ever. From everything I've seen in my life there will always be someone making an excuse for feckless fathers and blaming their fecklessness on the mother on the child(ren).

I'd have thought that in his position he would have a great deal of control over his schedule, tour dates, bookings, etc and would be able to say he can't work this date or that date as it's his child's birthday or he hasn't seen him in several weeks and wants to spend time with him. The fact he doesn't appear to be managing his schedule to take into account time with his child speaks volumes.

ViciousJackdaw · 27/10/2019 00:05

You're right EvenMore and Liam Payne was a member of One Direction.

Cheryl has the child she was so desperate for, she has plenty of her own money and a family who love her. She has a roof over her head, food on the table and she sure as hell isn't walking round in holey Primark leggings because she can't afford anything else.

My sympathy is reserved for the lone parents who have no money and no support.
