I'm in London for a few days next month and will have enough time to see 2 West End plays - hurrah!

Last time I asked on MN a few months ago someone recommended Come From Away - which was amazing and I'm so happy I took the recommendation.

Sadly Les Mis isn't on again until December and I'd love to have seen Six but it's sold out on the dates I'm going Sad have seen Matilda and Wicked. It doesn't have to be a musical but please recommend any amazing West End plays you've seen.

TIA

Hamilton was by far the best musical I have ever seen. Would highly recommend.

Mattttttt · 26/10/2019 23:06

Book of Mormon!

Chimchar · 26/10/2019 23:07

Hamilton. Fucking amazing.

Holidayaddict · 26/10/2019 23:09

Everybody's Talking About Jamie. Woman in Black. 2 very different shows but both excellent!

Dandelion1993 · 26/10/2019 23:10

Everybody's talking about Jamie is amazing!

SmilingButClueless · 26/10/2019 23:12

If you have time (as it’s actually 2 plays) and can get tickets, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is incredible.

GunpowderGelatine · 26/10/2019 23:13

Ooh great suggestions! Is Hamilton worth the £100?

Hamilton
Jamie
Cursed Child

wineoclockthanks · 26/10/2019 23:16

The play that goes wrong - so so funny.

SunburstsOrMarbleHalls · 26/10/2019 23:18

Another one to say Hamilton is the best musical I have watched. Tickets will be hard to get as they sell out months in advance but if you are lucky enough to be able to get a ticket then grab the opportunity.

Everybody is talking about Jamie is excellent and Cursed Child is also fab but is split into two parts that can can either be watched as a matinee and evening show or on consecutive evenings depending on the days you can go.

Haven't seen a play for years, though do like a musical - saw phantom again recently and loved it. Royal Opera house have just released their winter dates and have some lovely stuff on, may be worth checking out if any of it is on when you are around, some of it may be starting shortly.

LtJudyHopps · 26/10/2019 23:26

I’ve seen Matilda, lion king and 9 to 5 recently. I absolutely LOVED Matilda. Had no expectations for 9 to 5 but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would go back and see both again in future. I feel like now I’ve seen lion king there’s no need to see it again.
Download the todaytix app and see if you can get rush tickets on the day for wicked if you go - they release at 10am. This morning it had 2 stalls tickets row M for £60 for the pair!
I’ll be looking for Hamilton tickets after this thread Smile

BelgianWhistles · 26/10/2019 23:27

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. It’s wonderful!

Holidayaddict · 26/10/2019 23:28

Oh and School of Rock is excellent too!

curlycat · 26/10/2019 23:30

I'm in London just now. Saw Tina The Musical last night. Fabulous, no holds barred, leading lady is amazing.
Saw Waitress tonight. No idea what to expect but it was really enjoyable as well

ohfourfoxache · 26/10/2019 23:30

Hamilton

Just seen it for the 2nd time and I’m already planning the 3rd. And 4th!

Paddington68 · 26/10/2019 23:30

Come from Away

peachgreen · 26/10/2019 23:31

Hamilton, Waitress, Dear Evan Hansen and Everybody's Talking About Jamie would be my picks, in that order. Six is alright but it's not great.

Sooperkat · 26/10/2019 23:32

Hamilton. It’s the best show I’ve ever seen, we loved it so much we’ve seen it twice!

Shagged · 26/10/2019 23:33

There is a new show called &Juliet which is arriving in the west end in a week

I saw one of the preview showings and it was totally fabulous, I honestly cannot recommend it enough

If you search for 'Juliet Musical' on FB you read the reviews

greypetex · 26/10/2019 23:35

Hamilton

JustDanceAddict · 26/10/2019 23:36

If you’ve seen Come From Away, then Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is another uplifting show.

Fishcakey · 26/10/2019 23:37

Book of Mormon is brilliantly hilarious and they do dynamic pricing in the theatre so you can get excellent seats very reasonably (plus the rake in the circle is really steep so you can see everywhere).

Paddington68 · 26/10/2019 23:38

The Son is excellent, but harrowing.

BodenGate · 26/10/2019 23:41

Hamilton is in a different league. It’s worth every penny of the ticket price. I hated 9-2-5.
