I'm in London for a few days next month and will have enough time to see 2 West End plays - hurrah!

Last time I asked on MN a few months ago someone recommended Come From Away - which was amazing and I'm so happy I took the recommendation.

Sadly Les Mis isn't on again until December and I'd love to have seen Six but it's sold out on the dates I'm going Sad have seen Matilda and Wicked. It doesn't have to be a musical but please recommend any amazing West End plays you've seen.

TIA

Hamilton and Dearh of a Salesman - both excellent!

lunasunshine · 26/10/2019 23:52

Waitress is an excellent musical!

In terms of plays, I’ve seen three recently that have all been fab!

The Play That Goes Wrong - hilarious

Witness for the Prosecution - really gripping and amazing venue!

Our Lady of Kibeho - interesting and moving

I also saw Falsettos recently which I didn’t rate at all - I fell asleep! Shock Blush

Another vote for the Play that Went Wrong

We're going to see Mary Poppin next week and very much looking forward to it.

Jellyhater · 27/10/2019 00:02

Mormon - absolutely brilliant! Much better than Hamilton in my opinion.

escapade1234 · 27/10/2019 00:06

Hamilton is the best thing I’ve seen for ages.

Eemamc · 27/10/2019 00:09

Waitress is amazing

HearMeSnore · 27/10/2019 00:10

I second The Play That Goes Wrong. My face physically hurt from laughing.

The Woman In Black if you like spooky. (But don't let them "upgrade" you to the premium seats.)

1Morewineplease · 27/10/2019 00:15

I agree... The Woman In Black
Very spooky and has been at the West End for thirty years. Seen it twice. Well worth the money.

HolyheadBound · 27/10/2019 00:16

I came on to recommend Come From Away! Glad you loved it OP.

margotsdevil · 27/10/2019 00:28

We saw 9 to 5 recently. Absolutely hilarious and even my musical hating husband enjoyed!

BalloonWhisk · 27/10/2019 00:33

Hansard at the NT.

GunpowderGelatine · 27/10/2019 07:48

I'm not sure I'd fair well in Woman in Black, I'm a screamer Blush I once went on one of those interactive scary walk-throughs at Madame Tussaud's - the kind where people dressed as zombies chase you or jump out at you - and was berated by another woman when we came out because of my screaming BlushGrin and the film scared the crap out of me 😂

Why specifically ‘West End’ plays when so much original and exciting work exists outside this label? (Can’t even say geographic area as there will be non-West End plays happening in that area.)

triptrapdollydumpling · 27/10/2019 07:54

Waitress.

Iamnotagoddess · 27/10/2019 07:54

Tina

Absolutely Incredible.

GunpowderGelatine · 27/10/2019 07:56

Surprise off-west End plays would suit too as long as they're in central London, I'm there for a 2-day conference that finished at 4pm both days so want plenty of time to change, eat, dinner, get to the venue etc

The Play that Goes Wrong is brilliant

Or what about Ian McKellen On Stage - one of the best nights I've ever had at the theatre.
