Or any terrifying TV shows would also be good. Thanks in advance!

Not the scene in the school! Where did that come from, I meant the road!

Looking for The Witch!

Candyman. Oh my God Shock.

Wolf Creek is also terrifying.

Ylfa · 25/10/2019 14:52

Oh I have seen the Witch, watched it by accident when looking for films about white settlers in North America ! Liked it tho

The Conjuring 1
The Grudge
The Ring
Sinister
Back in the day...
The original Poltergeist
Nightmare on Elm Street
The original Carrie

BarbedBloom · 25/10/2019 14:54

Nothing scares me, have been reading and watching horror for too long. Sinister unsettled me and the music I think was a key part of that. Marianne on Netflix is creepy. The black and white Haunting of Hill House part with the knock on the door scared me as a child. Recently quite enjoyed The Ritual. I liked the old film The Changeling too.

I tend to prefer foreign horror though. REC was good. Noroi was also creepy. Tale of Two Sisters. I also loved the Del Torro horror films Devil's Backbone and The Orphanage, but they didn't scare me really. Shutter is one of my favourites but not the awful american remake.

LittleSweet · 25/10/2019 14:54

Paranormal Activity 1&2.

Furiosa · 25/10/2019 14:56

The Ritual (film) is pretty good.

The Terror (tv series) is excellent. The first season, second is pants.

LittleSweet · 25/10/2019 14:58

Rec was scary.
The Body is Spanish and really good, although I predicted the end which was disappointing, dh didn't though, so don't let that put you off.

Ironfloor269 · 25/10/2019 14:59

The original 'Ring' (Japanese version, Ringu, I think it's called). Also, other Japanese horror movies, which have inspired Hollywood to make their own versions I.e. Grudge

nilcarborundum · 25/10/2019 14:59

A long time ago I watched Salems Lot, with David Soul. It frightened me so much I slept with a crucifix next to my bed for weeks! It might be considered tame these days though 🤷‍♀️

Ylfa · 25/10/2019 15:02

I liked The Ritual, but again, the ending?

I’ll check out The Body, can’t find where to stream It Follows which is frustrating but I’m housesitting and probably can’t work their tv properly

Black Christmas ( a movie from the 70s) scared the crap out of me. It really crept under my skin slowly and i was scared for weeks after seeing it. Didn't help that i was living alone at the time i saw it even though i saw it with my partner. Best seen around christmas time.

The Innocents (1960's) - Creepy than scary

It follows

and this short film: m.youtube.com/watch?v=fcrM74s7tm4

Seen loads but cant remember most of them- the above really stick in my mind..

nononever · 25/10/2019 15:06

Wolf Creek, had to switch it off. Got the shudders just writing this.

nononever · 25/10/2019 15:09

I read the book when I was younger and was literally terrified. Then I watched the series and was even more terrified. Danny Glick at the window haunts me to this day!

Animum2 · 25/10/2019 15:10

I can't watch anything scary but dh loves anything scary or spooky and he actually laughs because to him they are not scary

Ilovemyhairbeingstroked · 25/10/2019 15:13

Definitely agree with the posters that have said sinister and insidious .

CatToddlerUprising · 25/10/2019 15:13

Dark Skies

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 25/10/2019 15:14

The Descent - scared the bejeezus out of me!

ImNotReallyAWaitress · 25/10/2019 15:15

Midsommar

Although I’m now reluctant to accept invites to summer celebrations (I live in Sweden 🤣)

FatArse123 · 25/10/2019 15:16

Another vote for It Follows. It used to be on Netflix in the UK, not sure if it still is.

Halloween is another, I know that the actors who play the 'high school students' are all in the their 30s, but it still scares the shit out of me. One of my favourites, though.

ReadyPayerTwo · 25/10/2019 15:17

Wolf Creek and The Exorcist (original from 1973) are the only horror films which stayed with me for literally two weeks after I'd watched them. I felt like I'd actually been there with the characters - would never watch again.

ActualHornist · 25/10/2019 15:19

Insidious was rubbish.

If you really want to be terrified, get yourself a console and play Silent Hill 2 Grin I had that game for over a year before I could get more than ten minutes in. It’s truly scary. Not just jump scares either which are so lazy.

Black Christmas gave me nightmares. The original one.

Ylfa · 25/10/2019 15:19

I was just looking at Midsommar, anything Nordic makes me cream (so to speak) but I’ve finally found It Follows so starting there

Hopefully I’ll return to the thread later, only want to nearly die of fright - thanks so much once again, lots of brilliant ideas on here so far!

Thirteen ghosts. Still terrifies me to death I don’t even know why. It must be the actual ghosts. They terrify me.
