Or any terrifying TV shows would also be good. Thanks in advance!

I like films that are well done in their own right rather than just genre.
So the Ring.
But also Keane Reeves films like Constantine and Devils Advocate. Bit creepy, good story and interesting to watch ( non predictable)

I recommend would you rather on Netflix its very disturbing but quite gripping. Different to all the other horrors out there

I recall seeing Jane Eyre on TV when I was small, it was in black and white, and being terrified at the scene where Jane is locked in, I think, the Red Room. It must have been thirty years before I could bear to watch it again!

Following for inspiration as I’ve found nothing to scare me as of yet! Hubby thinks I’m a robot 🤣

Tried watching Halloween last night, not the original (which I’ve never seen) but the most recent remake. Fell asleep, woke a few times when it got noisy and slashy but eventually gave up and went to bed leaving it running. So it must be fairly shit.

Watched Don't be afraid of the dark last night and can honestly say it's a long time since anything scared me that much!!!!

JAPAB · 04/11/2019 21:13

Totally agree, Silent Hill 2 was really tense and scary, and oddly emotional in places. Then I played the third one in the dark and nearly had kittens at the part with the recording of someone singing Happy Birthday in the freakiest voice.

I was also so scared I screamed aloud (never happens) playing Outlast in the dark with headphones on, but the problem with that game is you get used to the tension so it loses its power. Silent Hill 2 had a proper story, and is still one of my favourite video games ever.

If we are doing computer games then The Shalebridge Cradle mission from Thief Deadly Shadows takes some beating. Also Return To The Haunted Cathedral from the first Thief.

As for films, have seen a lot of these and sadly most left me unmoved. Can only remember a handful of films that have given me that creepy feeling, and they've been mostly mentioned. Rec, Paranormal Activity & The Conjuring. The last was more about jump scares but the first two had a great atmosphere.

Another one I found creepy was The Fourth Kind.

Candyman gave me nightmares.

PineappleLumps · 05/11/2019 06:56

@Ylfa I was disappointed by the new Halloween. I’m a wimp!! even I was bored and more scared by a Netflix documentary I watched after.

SimonJT · 05/11/2019 06:57

We watched don’t be afraid of the dark on Friday night, I didn’t think it was scary, my boyfriend however managed to chuck three glasses of wine around the living room, so scary for some!

Ylfa · 05/11/2019 08:46

Glad I’m not alone there @PineappleLumps !!

Candy man, creep, nightmare on elm street - all older films but ones that stick in my mind of scaring the living daylights out of me!!

Newmumatlast · 05/11/2019 14:28

Agree with Eden Lake because it genuinely could happen. Otherwise I find that alot of horrors people find terrifying - many of which have been cited here - dont touch the sides for me

notfromstepford · 05/11/2019 16:08

I agree with Eden Lake too. I love a good horror or thriller, but Eden Lake stayed with me for a long time because as others said it could happen.

LabellaChicca · 15/12/2019 02:33

Watching the Candyman because of you lot. I am so scared!!!

dottiedodah · 15/12/2019 09:50

Your title made me laugh

I can’t watch bloody stuff

The Exorcism of Emily Rose terrified me

The Haunting of Hill House saddened me

Ghost Stories on stage - absolutely go, but be prepared for extra grey hairs after.
