Or any terrifying TV shows would also be good. Thanks in advance!

I feel a complete wuss!
Scream and Final Destination scared the bejesus outta me!

Neron · 26/10/2019 20:21

Awesome thread! DH and I were in need of something to watch so we are trying event horizon now Grin

Trewser · 26/10/2019 20:26

Please nobody watch A Serbian Film.

It is really sick and disturbing.

I'm looking forward to watching Borderlands after seeing it recommended here. It looks great!

Trewser · 26/10/2019 20:26

I thought Ghost Stories would be crap, but it was surprisingly good and very creepy.

FadingStar · 26/10/2019 20:28

Borderlands is very creepy and one of those films you don't forget. The climax is amazing.

Kit19 · 26/10/2019 20:30

The original woman in black made for the bbc is much much scarier than the one with Daniel Radcliffe

The Haunting “stop squeezing my hand” “I’m not holding your hand” arghhhhhhh

FadingStar · 26/10/2019 20:34

Vague memory of a black and white film if anyone can help. Boy and girl sent off to live with a man who it transpires wants to kill them so he can live longer (I think it mightve been to do with their hearts?) And for some reason it has a ukele in it I dont know why that sticks in my mind . Id love to know the name of it as it creeped me out .

@Feilin the one you're thinking of is an episode from the BBC Ghost Stories for Christmas, called Lost Hearts. The full episode is in YouTube and you're right, it is very creepy.

Nogodsnomasters · 26/10/2019 20:36

The strangers really got to me too! Creepy as fuck.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/10/2019 20:45

The Vanishing original Dutch version- it doesn’t have the Hollywood remake nice ending. Very disturbing

Wolf Creek there is something very eerie about the outback (great genre of books recently been written)

The Ring I found it played on my mind for weeks after especially the horse scene

The Shinning the butler, the music playing in the empty hotel, the twin girls, the weird dressing up sex game, redrum Shock

The Sixth Sense the simple use of anticipation (when he is having a pee) really made me jump

youvegottobekidding · 26/10/2019 20:45

The Final Destination films use to get me, I say use to as I only watched 1 & 2 & saw about the first 15 mins or so of number 3. I think it’s the fact that they are about death, that it comes to us all, no matter what, we don’t know when or how and although the films are grossly exaggerated, after watching the first one many years ago at the cinema, I was shit scared for about 3 weeks after, I made sure I only crossed the road when the green man flashed, chewed my food properly, I was so aware of everything around me!

Elderflower14 · 26/10/2019 20:45

The Woman In Black for me... Watched it in the village hall with my best friend and I screamed the whole way through. I can't look at those monkey toys clapping cymbals now without shuddering!!
My other friends son went home and said it was hilarious.
I made my friend walk home with me. Our country lane has no lighting. Got to my gate arm in arm and as I went to open the bolt my then bf cycled up with no lights and called out "GOOD EVENING LADIES!"
The language directed at was quite expressive!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
A few years later I watched it again with my now late DP. He jumped a lot too. It was a boiling hot night. I went to bed before him and was asleep on top of the duvet when dp came to bed. He climbed on the bed and ran his finger down my spine... I rolled over and told him to F off.

I think I have blocked this from my mind it terrified me

Only shown once Boxing Day (I think 1990)

Atropa · 26/10/2019 20:55

The Grudge

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 26/10/2019 20:55

Creep (2004 one).

Also the Phantom of the Opera film with Robert Englund - I think it's really good but it traumatised my younger sister so much that she had nightmares after seeing the bit where he peels his face off (she was only 4, I was babysitting and she came downstairs unexpectedly).

Spaceprincess · 26/10/2019 21:03

The Descent, still scares me now

tinkerbellla · 26/10/2019 21:11

I had nightmares for weeks after Insidious Shock

nononever · 26/10/2019 21:46

I mentioned upthread that Ivan Milat the Australian serial killer Wolf Creek is loosely based on was not long for this world. He's dead.

Thanks to whoever recommended The Borderlands - we just watched it and it properly shit us up!

Neron · 26/10/2019 22:04

So many films on here I can't watch as it has animal death/cruelty in it (I get DH to check on website does the dog die Blush)

We just watched event horizon, I don't recommend it, not scary at all and boring

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 26/10/2019 22:06

Yes The Strangers was disturbing.

Pinkarsedfly · 26/10/2019 22:07

We watched Event Horizon a few weeks back. It’s like an Aldi Alien. Dull.

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 26/10/2019 22:09

House of 1000 Corpses. The Devils Rejects. The Shining.

CoolCarrie · 26/10/2019 22:11

Please don’t watch the Serbian film, it is enough to read the Wikipedia account of it, it sounds absolutely horrific

helacells · 26/10/2019 22:11

Omen, Frozen, 47 meters down, Blair witch project
