"Next time I see it I'm burning it"

So I have this tshirt thats actually from quite a posh brand, it's a grey tshirt made from a really soft drapey cotton and it's dark grey and loose. I love the feel of it and how it moves, it's quite baggy and I wear it round the house.

Theres just one problem which is I left it outside in the garden for a whole winter and when I finally moved myself and brought it in last spring or something obviously I washed it, but now not only does it have a few (very small) holes on it, the fabric is damaged and staind kind of on the front almost like its rusted (if fabric could rust).

So anyway the other day I'm sitting around in it. DP has seen me wear it around before but this time he said "seriously can you not just buy another basic grey lounging tshirt? Next time I see it I'm burning it!"

Kinda lighthearted but where do you stand on wearing decrepit clothing?

Cue new thread moaning 'My Husband Called MeA Slob' or 'Husband Has Started Dressing Like A Slob' 😂

WhenPushComesToShove · 25/10/2019 17:20

Holy Bejaysus! Just seen the pic. If I ever see you in it I'm burning it myself. Have some self respect woman; even a homeless person would turn it down!

IdiotInDisguise · 25/10/2019 17:21

Are you wearing something you left in a heap outside for the whole winter??? Good grief, your poor husband!

Would you like him wearing something he took from a bin or a rubbish skip?

Actually, it doesn’t matter what you want, obviously your husband doesn’t live in your planet.

fartingrainbows · 25/10/2019 17:22

Oh ok just seen the picture and..... this is a wind up, right? Sigh!!!

gwackywacky · 25/10/2019 17:26

@fartingrainbows I thought you were an ally after your jacket story!!! #betrayed

I'm still going to wear it, just wanted to see if it was actually completely unreasonable of me and I'm sending it is from the replies. I just think that's so weird though. On one level I get it, on another level it seems totally insane to me that people actually spend like lots of money on new clothes that have been ripped and shredded and stuff and here you have a perfectly clean tshirt but that's somehow weird?

whitebowls · 25/10/2019 17:28

Nah, it needs binning. It's rank.

AnnaNimmity · 25/10/2019 17:31

I was ok with the t shirt before. But now I've seen it? Not so much...

gamerchick · 25/10/2019 17:31

How can you say you like the cut? That thing is so misshapen it will never look good again.

I'm with your bloke. Time for a new tee and that one given its burial... Or used as rags.

NoSquirrels · 25/10/2019 17:32

No one would voluntarily part with ANY cash for that rag, OP. It is seriously grim.

RaininSummer · 25/10/2019 17:35

I take away my partner's tshirts once the armpits become a hole and make tug toys for dog with them.

gwackywacky · 25/10/2019 17:40

@gamerchick trust me it looks better on

I'd say half my T-shirt collection was second hand (my favourite being a dark brown one with embroidered Japanese on that I got from the car boot!), and I would still wear it round the house even if someone else living there didn't like it - I like being comfortable when I'm at home!
I think it's fair enough if one wants to be smart even when doing nothing in particular at home, but most people don't these days and it's by no means necessary.

AntCrawley · 25/10/2019 17:49

I am really really not precious about things like this but jesus wept that t shirt is vile.
My DH is of the same opinion and valuea as you OP. I think we shoule swap DPs as if he wanted sex without having a wash first id have fallen out with him Grin

AntCrawley · 25/10/2019 17:56

Do you know you might end up killing your sex life because of it 😂

tiajon · 25/10/2019 18:02

Dye it to get rid of the stain - it's lovely!

Vulpine · 25/10/2019 18:35

Looks like something from allsaints. People happily wear jeans full of holes which i think look weird so i cant see why your tshirt is any more offensive.

TheSandman · 25/10/2019 19:20

Ah, but you see but those are DESIGNER holes. Carefully placed and selected to look like random wear by overpaid pretentious graduates from fashion design courses (and actually placed there by underpaid third world sweatshop workers).

Congrats to the OP for doing it for real! Real holes!

carolina21 · 25/10/2019 19:22

Haha I wouldn't even use it to clean toilet never mind wear but each to there own

FarAwaySheep · 25/10/2019 19:27

Wow. I wear favourite things with holes in, but even I would have given up on that one.

Respect to the skankmeister OP Grin

starfishmummy · 25/10/2019 19:37

I wear decrepit clothing. I doubt if dh would say anything as a lot of his is even more decrepit

SignOnTheWindow · 25/10/2019 19:53

OP, I have finally found my people. Keep the t-shirt!

OneTerrificMouse · 25/10/2019 20:19

That is fucking manky.

TinyGhostWriter · 25/10/2019 20:29

I think the holes look great, adds interest and character. Don’t like the stains though.

NoSquirrels · 25/10/2019 20:32

On the upside, OP, you don’t need to spend money on a Halloween outfit because your zombie costume is coming along nicely...

Horehound · 25/10/2019 20:39

That is disgusting
