"Next time I see it I'm burning it"

So I have this tshirt thats actually from quite a posh brand, it's a grey tshirt made from a really soft drapey cotton and it's dark grey and loose. I love the feel of it and how it moves, it's quite baggy and I wear it round the house.

Theres just one problem which is I left it outside in the garden for a whole winter and when I finally moved myself and brought it in last spring or something obviously I washed it, but now not only does it have a few (very small) holes on it, the fabric is damaged and staind kind of on the front almost like its rusted (if fabric could rust).

So anyway the other day I'm sitting around in it. DP has seen me wear it around before but this time he said "seriously can you not just buy another basic grey lounging tshirt? Next time I see it I'm burning it!"

Kinda lighthearted but where do you stand on wearing decrepit clothing?

@MrGsFancyNewVagina hahahahaha noooooo! Maybe the stains are spider jizz!

If it's been thought the wash, it's hygienic to wear, so go for it. Having old stains doesn't mean it smells or is going to give you a disease!
Far better for the planet to wear your old t-shirt than to buy a new one.

SolitudeAtAltitude · 25/10/2019 12:28

torch it!

notso · 25/10/2019 12:28

I'm on board with wearing old clothes. I've often left clothes on the line for days, I'm finding it hard to imagine knowingly leaving good clothes to rot then wearing them. I think if DH did that I'd probably hide it.

Longlongsummer · 25/10/2019 12:29

Jesus bin it!

MitziK · 25/10/2019 12:30

Or rat shit.

Just buy a replacement and don't leave it festering outside.

I might have said this about DP's boxers when they'd deteriorated into reverse bollock hammocks. I might also have said that I wouldn't have waited until he took them off, either.

He binned them. His bollocks are now suitably (and comfortably) attired.

diddl · 25/10/2019 12:30

Stained & with holes-I don't think that I#d be wearing it any more tbh.

You can't like it that much if you left it outside for so long!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 25/10/2019 12:30

I don't think I would wear it... both because of the creosote (as someone has mentioned) and because it sounds ruined really. It's holey and stained. I'm all for DP being comfortable at home but I'd draw the line before holey, ruined old clothing really...

Can you get a new version of it? Is there enough of it that isn't ruined that it could be made into something else?

How did it end up outside for whole winter?!

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 25/10/2019 12:30

I want to know where this mythical t-shirt came from!

BillHadersNewWife · 25/10/2019 12:33

I can relate to the "couldn't be fucked" thing OP. I sometimes do things like that just because I can. :D I don't give a shit! All this "ooh what's that doing STILL there??" sort of thing is weird to me. It's done nobody any harm.

If he threatens your T Shirt again, threaten his T Shirt back.

LittleAndOften · 25/10/2019 12:34

How is it not mouldy?!

I was properly lazy and slobbish before I met DH and had to sort my act out. But this baffles me!

Jaxhog · 25/10/2019 12:34

Time for it to become a posh polishing/cleaning cloth I think!

itsmecathycomehome · 25/10/2019 12:35

Well you didn't want to wear it for a whole winter so why the sudden interest now?

I don't mind old and well worn, even bobbly, but with holes and stains - no.

gwackywacky · 25/10/2019 12:36

@BillHadersNewWife I like you. I like you A LOT. ♡ Yeah exactly. I took it off to sunbathe in the summer and threw it across the deck, and it just stayed there. The months rolled by and I sometimes thought about bringing it in but at the same time thought - who cares? Also I never imagined rain would do it any harm and I dont care if its stained.

Btw it was from and other stories, bought three years ago.

T shirt has now been repeatedly darked on.
Ritual burning is the only solution.

Longlongsummer · 25/10/2019 12:38

Old and worn. Fine.

Mould. Creosote. No get it off!

gwackywacky · 25/10/2019 12:38

@itsmecathycomehome because we moved house so I was forced to remove it from the deck and wash it and then I was like "oh yeah I forgot how much I like this tshirt".

Anyway, I've decided it's a keeper!

OP posts:
gwackywacky · 25/10/2019 12:39

@Longlongsummer when I get home I'm going to do an experiment to see whether my cats sniff at it a lot, if they do it may be mould or creosote in which case I'll reconsider

EmmiJay · 25/10/2019 12:40

Ew.

ChicCauldron · 25/10/2019 12:42

This is one of those threads you hope is a troll - if it isn't, throw the top away.

meditereb · 25/10/2019 12:44

You left a t shirt outside for months and then you just washed it and wore it ?
EW!!!

WombleishofTheThighs · 25/10/2019 12:45

You're bloody odd, OP. I like you Halloween Grin

AlexaAmbidextra · 25/10/2019 12:46

I’m on DH’s side. I got pissed off at my XH slobbing around the house looking like a fucking tramp. You don’t have to dress up and have full make-up on but there are plenty of clothes around that are comfortable but don’t look like shit. Why would you want to?

Derbee · 25/10/2019 12:46

because we moved house so I was forced to remove it from the deck and wash it and then I was like "oh yeah I forgot how much I like this tshirt

This is so hilarious @gwackywacky! I was wondering why you finally decided to bring it in. It’s so funny that it was an absolutely final resort 😂

Am I the only one that wants to see it? Grin
