"Next time I see it I'm burning it"

So I have this tshirt thats actually from quite a posh brand, it's a grey tshirt made from a really soft drapey cotton and it's dark grey and loose. I love the feel of it and how it moves, it's quite baggy and I wear it round the house.

Theres just one problem which is I left it outside in the garden for a whole winter and when I finally moved myself and brought it in last spring or something obviously I washed it, but now not only does it have a few (very small) holes on it, the fabric is damaged and staind kind of on the front almost like its rusted (if fabric could rust).

So anyway the other day I'm sitting around in it. DP has seen me wear it around before but this time he said "seriously can you not just buy another basic grey lounging tshirt? Next time I see it I'm burning it!"

Kinda lighthearted but where do you stand on wearing decrepit clothing?

Wait..... you moved house? You did house viewings with a crumpled slimy t shirt sitting on the deck? When I sold my house it was medical-grade bleached and all my possessions were placed in storage except for the occasional ottoman from Loaf.

Here it is

"Next time I see it I'm burning it"
Pedipalppywoowoo · 25/10/2019 16:10

@FastAway Hahaha mo I'm pretty sure I moved it before viewings. Your comment did make me plunge into a very disturbing memory though. When we moved (we are renters) and it was being inspected for us to give back the keys, we left our couch because we had agreed to sell it on to the new tenant moving in. We were about to shake hands and be like "ok thanks for the memories here are the keys, bye" when the landlord said "oh wait, can you just move the couch so I can inspect the floor under it?". Hadnt even occured to us to clean under there (it was a really bad day where loads of seriously disastrous shit happened). So we were like yeah, sure. So we pulled the couch out and underneath were like 15 manky cat toys (fair does) and this REALLY funky pair of pants, I'm talking red thong with leather parts. We all just stood there in horror until j bent down scooping up the cat toys and pants and shoving them into a bin bag going "haha" nervously!

I think you should have included pic on original post.

Never mind being darked on-looks like it's been ravaged by wolves

ChicCauldron · 25/10/2019 16:16

A lot of your previous threads seem to be unavailable, OP.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 25/10/2019 16:21

Your NC is going to make it hard for posters to identify you as the OP...

But that t shirt isn't just a bit holey and stained. It's ruined.

Trewser · 25/10/2019 16:22

Definitely with your dh now I've seen the pic. In fact I'd be concerned about your MH

Pedipalppywoowoo · 25/10/2019 16:22

@AnchorDownDeepBreath Dont you see my posts in green?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 25/10/2019 16:23

@Pedipalppywoowoo Not now that you've changed your name.

Cleverplayonwords · 25/10/2019 16:24

Fucking hell, it looks like it was already set on fire!

gwackywacky · 25/10/2019 16:25

@AnchorDownDeepBreath

Okay changed it back!

Well I actually think it looks cool Grin

VanGoghsDog · 25/10/2019 16:27

Looks like a Halloween costume!

Celebelly · 25/10/2019 16:27

Bahahaha it's awful, which would make me even more determined to wear it Grin You go Glen CoCo!

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 25/10/2019 16:29

That t shirt is awful. Truly. And I have extremely low standards.

shumway · 25/10/2019 16:29

“I’ve had this shirt, that’s covered in dirt, for years and years and years

It used to be red, but I wore it in bed, and it went grey, cos I wore it all day, for years and years and years

The arms fell off, in the Monday wash, and you can see my vest, through the holes in the chest, for years and years and years

As my shirt falls apart, I’ll keep the bits, in a biscuit tin, on the mantelpiece, for years and years and years.”

Preggosaurus9 · 25/10/2019 16:31

On the off chance this is real I feel sorry for your DH!

gwackywacky · 25/10/2019 16:34

@Preggosaurus9 if it's any consolation I'm actually pretty presentable the rest of the time and even the stuff I lounge around in is quite pretty like I would normally wear grey leggings and this white fluffy m&s jumper that's really comfy (and IN GOOD CONDITION), if I'm feeling more frivolous I have a silk robe thing I like to wear too. For some reason I just really like this tshirt Grin

When I’m was a student nurse I left a dress outside on the line for a year. It was on the roof of the nurses home. I would go out and see it when I was hanging out my washing. I sort of dispassionately observed it fading and disintegrating a little.
One day it had been disposed of, which I liked because I thought of it as a part of myself that I no longer needed or wanted.
I was quite a slob, but I was a shit -hot nurse. I really cared about my patients.

gwackywacky · 25/10/2019 16:36

@shumway
Great poem!

Can I encourage everyone to go and listen to this really beautiful song about an old shirt. I'm sure we can all relate to the lyrica in some way:

I love to dress like the scabbiest teenager at home but by fuck that tshirt needs binned.

BeesKnees4 · 25/10/2019 16:48

You left a shirt lying on the deck for months? I hope the house isn’t the same level of slovenly 🙄

Instatwat · 25/10/2019 16:49

Oh god I was with you until the picture.

Team Burn.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 25/10/2019 16:49

I have the same OP - except mine was my absolutely favourite pj top. It is a really soft, light material and it used to be really cute and pink ... until the day my 'D'H put anotherrrr pen in the washing machine, and now it's pink with horrible blue blobbly stains alll over it.

I still wear it, obviously. 'D'H has only dared to comment on it once...

Isitnearlyweekend · 25/10/2019 16:49

You can’t love it that much if you left it outside for months!!
