to let my daughter wear this dress as a wedding guest?

Or does it look too much like a bridesmaid/flower girl dress?

This isn't the exact dress, but it's similar. I've read threads on here about parents dressing their young daughters as bridesmaids because they're offended that they weren't chosen, and it's occurred to me I'm not really sure what the difference between a child's party dress and a bridesmaid dress is! I'm guessing it's fine because it's blue rather than white, but I just wanted to make sure.

It looks like a bridesmaid dress to me

chocolatebuttonsandcheese · 22/10/2019 20:35

You absolutely cannot let your daughter wear that

iwantavuvezela · 22/10/2019 20:36

How old is your daughter? As a guests dress that feels more like been part of the wedding party. Does your dad want to wear this?

isseywith4vampirecats · 22/10/2019 20:36

no you know thats far too much like a bridesmaids dress find her a pretty but normal dress if shes not a bridesmaid at my daughters wedding a friend of hers had dressed her girls in almost identical dress to my grandaughters who were bridesmaids and almost everyone commented on it

PumpkinP · 22/10/2019 20:38

Cinderella springs to mind. 😂 my 8 year old would go crazy for that

Bringmewineandcake · 22/10/2019 20:38

Total wannabe bridesmaid outfit Grin

PumpkinP · 22/10/2019 20:40

Funnily enough I just showed it to her and she said “cinderella” and I didn’t say it to her beforehand.

It’s abit much.

Sexnotgender · 22/10/2019 20:40

I probably wouldn’t put my daughter in that for a wedding. It’s a bit Disney princess.

WatchoutfortheROUS · 22/10/2019 20:40

Oh god OP, don't, you'll make a fool of yourself dressing her in that!

Velveteenfruitbowl · 22/10/2019 20:40

That’s not a party dress. That’s a mini ball gown.

Soontobe60 · 22/10/2019 20:42

It’s awful! And is also a bridesmaid dress. How old us your dd?

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/10/2019 20:42

Nooooo. It looks like a dress up outfit, bot suitable at all.

Janaih · 22/10/2019 20:42

no. have you got her a tiara to go with it? Grin

DramaAlpaca · 22/10/2019 20:42

No, it's too bridesmaidy.

Expressedways · 22/10/2019 20:43

Way too OTT. It looks like a Cinderella fancy dress costume.

BigFatLiar · 22/10/2019 20:43

@iwantavuvezela - I think it would be even more out of place if her dad was to wear it.

NearlyGranny · 22/10/2019 20:44

What if... thoughts would stop me! You presumably don't know what colour the bridesmaids are wearing. You don't know whether their style is simpler. I agree with PP saying choose something special but not shouting occasion at everyone. A print would be safe. You don't want her mistaken for one of the wedding party, after all.

Save that level of special for when she is a bridesmaid.

Theresnobslikeshowbs · 22/10/2019 20:44

OTT!! That’s bridesmaid material! Please don’t put her in this!!

CAG12 · 22/10/2019 20:45

How old is she? Id allow this for a young girl but no older

Lightsabre · 22/10/2019 20:45

Fine if she's 6 years old but too fussy otherwise.

MarshaBradyo · 22/10/2019 20:45

How old is she? It’s a bit much

DDiva · 22/10/2019 20:45

I would go for something with a pattern to look less like a bridesmaid

Tojigornot · 22/10/2019 20:46

Nooo

Gillian1980 · 22/10/2019 20:47

I think it’s too bridesmaidy

BubblesBuddy · 22/10/2019 20:47

Zara have some excellent sparkly dresses for girls and River Island have party outfits too. Both way better than this dress. It looks cheap and nasty by the way.
