AIBU to worry that the (almost certain) delay in Brexit will give rise to civil unrest?

Yes there were quite a few asians who voted for brexit because they thought it would be easier for their families to come here than it is now. I suspect they are right, as there were always job vacancies in the nhs for example for uk born people to do. There is no j0b shortage due to immigration from the EU but there is now and will be an even bigger, labour shortage. Our fastest growing population group is the over 85's, with no one to care for them.

😮 What do you mean no one to care for them. All these unemployed Brits (lowest unemployment in history, but hey ho) are taking these jobs. That's what we've been told. We are stealing jobs and when we fuck off all these jobs will be taken by locals and that's why locals voted for Brexit😮

😂

To be fair, I have worked with unemployed people in fairly rural areas who feel pushed out of their jobs by huge unskilled migration into horrible jobs like chicken plucking factories etc. I do feel sorry for them and the stories were consistent in that they felt their wages were suppressed and they were made to feel unwelcome where they worked by polish supervisors employing a completely polish workforce, only speaking in polish etc. They were in their 40s and 50s with minimal education and no chance of retraining. My job was to help them with their cvs but they knew it was pointless. They were very polite about it and weren't racist (I'm Indian descent and worked in white rural farming communities as part of my job. I never felt any hostility) My friend voted remain but would now vote leave (London based Ugandan Asian former refugee, not Priti Patel Grin) because she has to walk past huge banks of homeless Romanians on her way to work in the City. However, the EU had provision to stop this happening. It was the UK Government that caused these problems by not implementing the 7 year hiatus which would have helped distribute Eastern European migration more evenly across Europe. The one benefit of leaving the EU will be that politicians wont be able to blame the EU for their own crap decisions.

I get what you mean. It is sad when locals can't go to work because of the reasons you mentioned. I would be furious myself The wage suppression is more complex. Yes, cheap unskilled labour has a part in it, but it's also in a combination with people demanding the cheapest prices, supermarkets screwing smaller suppliers etc.

UK gov always had a chance to control EU immigration. But gov never bothered to implement it! Theoretically that camps you mentioned shouldn't be there because the said immigrants wouldn't have a right to reside. You are absolutely right about this! The one benefit of leaving the EU will be that politicians wont be able to blame the EU for their own crap decisions.
