AIBU to worry that the (almost certain) delay in Brexit will give rise to civil unrest?

There is no why, arguement, I dislike various things about the EU, all added together mean when I got asked if I wanted to go I voted yes.

BertrandRussell · 22/10/2019 14:40

Could you say some of the things you dislike?

mummmy2017 · 22/10/2019 14:46

To take such a massive salary and the pass laws to lower the tax they pay.
The expenses, they refuse to have examined.
The massive waste of moving head quarters, and the cost.
The private plans, the limo service, the payments for attending the you see the empty chambers.
Too pay farmers so much money to do nothing.

MustardScreams · 22/10/2019 14:49

All of those reasons could be true about the UK government also...

mummmy2017 · 22/10/2019 14:52

We can change our Govenment.
Now we get to leave the EU.

MustardScreams · 22/10/2019 14:54

And how do any of those reasons affect you personally? Or your family?

And how is leaving the EU going to affect you personally, or your family?

You’ve voted to leave because of a few quite banal reasons, that are true of most governing bodies. And you’ve voted yo make yourself poorer, with less rights and regulations because the EU use private planes? Slightly mad really.

mummmy2017 · 22/10/2019 15:00

Why do you refuse to accept that others are allowed to have different views.
That Millions of people dislike the way the EU is.

MustardScreams · 22/10/2019 15:03

I honestly just don’t understand it. I don’t! I’ve been asking people for 3 years to explain to me why the EU is so bad, but no one does. And people are still emphatically supportive of leaving even though time and time again it’s been proven to be the worst thing for this country and the people that live in it.

It just honestly baffles me that you’re willing to live a shitty life for the sake of leaving the EU. I can’t get my head around it.

mummmy2017 · 22/10/2019 15:06

Ok imagine you are with a bloke, married and everything is ok, but not perfect.
You decide to leave him, everyone tells you that you are crazy, but nothing makes you change your mind and you divorce him.

BertrandRussell · 22/10/2019 15:11

“Why do you refuse to accept that others are allowed to have different views.”
I do accept that absolutely. But I do like to try and understand other people’s views. And I haven’t got enough information yet to understand yours.

MustardScreams · 22/10/2019 15:13

So I divorce my husband and go live on the streets with no money and no food because I don’t want to change my mind?

I still don’t get it!

noodlenosefraggle · 22/10/2019 15:21

I'm annoyed that delay wont help anything. Just cause more upset. Parliament is still as deadlocked as it has been for the past 2 other extensions. I suspect most mps want to remain, they just don't want to admit it. Why are they just delaying and delaying? They know full well that no 'deal' will be better than the deal we have. I don't understand why if they want to remain, just say so and vote to revoke a50. It would cause much less upset and disruption to us and the rest of Europe if we just revoked and then had an election. Then people could elect the government that did what wanted. Tories would say 'we will have a referendum on the BJ negotiated deal' The lib dems could say they wanted to stay and Labour could offer a referendum on whatever desl they think they will get within 3 months of winning an election.

mummmy2017 · 22/10/2019 15:33

In this divorce you kept your own home bank accounts and jobs.
In fact you were subbing him to have a talk factory with his mates, at a hotel....
All the mates wife's work and pay all the bills.

Shit- wrong thread.

MustardScreams · 22/10/2019 17:01

@mummmy2017 you’re confusing the benefits of leaving the EU. YOU aren’t going to see a single one. You are personally going to lose out. That’s a given now, you just need to looks at financial projections and what experts say (I know expert is a dirty word to leavers).

Unless you’re in the top 1% or a right wing politician. Both of which seem unlikely.

madeyemoodysmum · 22/10/2019 18:05

Noodle nose. It’s now looking more and more likely we are getting an election. Bring it on.

noodlenosefraggle · 22/10/2019 18:15

We'll have to have an election one way or another as even if this bill is passed, we have a minority government. The worry I have with an election during another delay is that it will be about Brexit. BJ will win because Labour are bloody useless on Brexit and because he can say he tried to get Brexit done but Labour were playing silly games and thwarted him. No other policies will be scrutinised effectively. We need to revoke or pass the WA before an election. If Johnson gets a majority, all hopes of any sensible negotiation will be over.

Alsohuman · 22/10/2019 18:33

There’s no way the Tories will get a majority. We’ll end up with another hung Parliament and this will go endlessly on until the EU gets completely pissed off with us and slings us out.

MarshaBradyo · 22/10/2019 18:38

They couldn’t call one earlier how can they now? Will Labour say yes to it

FloatingObject · 22/10/2019 18:40

The Tories will win a GE I'm afraid

BertrandRussell · 22/10/2019 18:41

Yep. We are going to have a Tory government for the foreseeable future.

FloatingObject · 22/10/2019 18:45

Agree. The left vote is just too split. This could have been avoided by putting a charismatic, very clearly pro Remain politician at the head of the labour party back when the results came through in 2016.

The only possible way for labour to win now is for them to somehow miraculously find THE most charismatic person possible. Thats not going to happen though.

MarshaBradyo · 22/10/2019 18:46

Corbyn is too extreme for many to win
